    Investigating Suitable Multiple Access Techniques for Harbor Wireless Communication Systems

    The multiple access communications for harbor environment are suffering from both low quality transmission due many metallic obstacles and overloaded networks due to the huge number of users/devices of logistic monitoring. This paper proposes a coded random access (CRA) scheme with a degree distribution suitable for harbor environment to serve many devices and provide communications with high reliability. The degree distribution is optimized using extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts by keeping that two EXIT curves  do not intersect at low mutual information points. Since we are working on the network level, of which the benefit of broadband communications is kept for the fairness with the narrowband transmission, we convert the gain of broadband transmissions into an equivalent gain to the narrowband transmissions based on the Shannon channel capacity and coding theory. We then compare CRA to carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA), because CSMA/CA has better performance compared to other techniques, such as ALOHA and Slotted ALOHA.  We evaluate the performance of the proposed CRA and CSMA/CA using a series of computer simulation in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and multipath Rayleigh fading channels in terms of throughput and packet-loss rate (PLR). The results confirmed that CRA with the proposed degree distribution is more suitable than CSMA/CA as a multiple access technique for harbor wireless communications, indicated that the proposed CRA has higher throughput and lower PLR. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of future harbor communication systems

    M.L. Estimator for Fuzzy Survival Function to the Kidney Failure Patients

    The dependence of traditional statistical methods in finding estimators and testing hypotheses depends on data that take specific values. However, uncertainty (Fuzzy) appears in most data, including survival time data, which requires researchers to apply Fuzzy methods in general when finding estimators, particularly the estimators of a survival function. In this research, the experimental method (simulation) was used to compare Fuzzy methods (definition of fuzzy logic, cut level -δ, Buckley) at three fuzzy degrees (0, 0.5, 1), for selected survival times (t = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) in days. To determine the best fuzzy method used to find the Maximum Likelihood Estimators of the fuzzy survival function depends on the Avery Mean Squares Error (AMES) for the lower and upper bound estimators of the fuzzy survival function for each method. From the experimental method, we came to an advantage of defining fuzzy logic for the maximum likelihood estimator for the survival function of Weibull distribution (distribution of survival times data in the research). The maximum likelihood estimator calculated according to the method of defining fuzzy logic for patients' survival times with kidney failure collected from sections of the dialysis department in educational hospitals (Baghdad, Al-Kindi, Al-Karama, Al-Kadhimiya). This research found that the probability of fuzzy survival for two days to the patients with kidney failure reaches 0.7504 and this probability decreases with an increase in the time of stay until it reaches 0.07704 the probability of staying for a month

    The Effect of ANFIS Controller on The Performance of Induction Motor Drives in Low-Speed Operation Based on IFOC

    The performance of the low-speed operation of induction motor (IM) drives has been discovered to be degrading and the performance of indirect field-oriented control (IFOC)-based IM drives depends on the efficiency of the inner loop Stator Current Regulator (SCR). Therefore, this research proposed the use of the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) SCR to enhance the performance and optimize the operations of IFOC-based IM drives. It also compared the controller with PI SCR to analyze and evaluate the differences in how they perform. The results showed PI and ANFIS produced the same dynamic speed response trend and the use of ANFIS was able to reduce integral absolute error (IAE) up to 0.481% and phase current consumption from 2.78A – 6.32A both in peak and RMS value. Furthermore, there was a 29.29% - 45.58% reduction in the phase current total harmonic distortion (THD). This means the application of ANFIS SCR on IFOC-based IM drives enhanced the performance in the current constraint for high-performance purposes and low-speed applications

    Effect of Undegraded Dietary Protein, Probiotic, and Premixes in Complete Rations on Fat-Tailed Sheep Productivity

    Low ration efficiency and Average Daily Gain (ADG) are the key issues that sheep breeders face nowadays. This is because the quality of rations provided is still low, resulting in livestock productivity that is not optimal with its genetic potential. One of the efforts that can be done is by supplementing protected protein (Undegraded Dietary Protein) and probiotics to improve the quality of sheep rations. The aim of this study is to know the effect of administration UDP, Probiotic, and Premix on the fat-tailed sheep productivity. This study used a completely randomized design method (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely R0 (Standard Complete Feed), R1 (Standard Complete Feed with UDP Protein Source), R2 (R1 + Premix), R3 (R1 + Probiotics), and R4 (R1 + Premix + Probiotics). The statistical test used was ANOVA and then it would be followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test if the results were significant. According to the research, all treatments have no real effect (P < 0.05) against the Digestibility of Dry Matter (DDM) and the of Organic Matter (DOM). However, when compared to the control, almost all treatments have a higher value than the control. Whereas in the parameters of body Weight Gain (WG) and Dry Matter (DM) consumption, all treatments had significantly different effects (P > 0.05) with P4 (R1 + Premix + Probiotics) providing a value higher than all other treatments. As a result, the provision of rations containing UDP and Probiotics has the potential to increase sheep productivity

    Formulation Model of Power Based Technopreneurship in the Digital Technology Era

    The advancement of digital technology today has driven innovation in various aspects, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) related to cybersecurity. The formulation of this problem is how to develop a manpower-based technopreneurship model by looking at the use of technology in empowering innovative resources. This research aims to analyze how to design a power-based technopreneurship formulation model in the era of digital technology. This research analyzed the literature using analytical techniques from journals and related news about energy-based technopreneurship in the digital technology era. This study indicates that power-based technopreneurship in small and medium enterprises is motivated to develop their business to take advantage of the times accompanied by advances in digital technology. This rebuilds the understanding of power-based technopreneurship in the era of digital technology to strengthen the business and potential of existing resources through technological updates that generate economic benefits. This condition shows a reference that contains considerations in the business environment in technological competition, especially in the international field. The results of this study indicate that there are three potential strength-based technopreneurship, namely thread starter, private message, transactions via virtual accounts (internet banking), delivery services, and “UKM Go Digital.†The first challenge in strength-based technopreneurship is cybersecurity with solutions, namely mapping threats, strengthening laws, and maintaining good coordination between institutions. The second challenge is a global competition with solutions, creating innovations, adopting products by local companies, and making policies according to the government’s competitive environment

    Mapping Land Use and Land Cover in the Upper Ciliwung Watershed Using Landsat Tree Cover (TC) Data

    Land use and land cover (LULC) mapping using Landsat Tree Cover (TC) data that we employed was digital classification by converting Landsat TC raster data into Landsat TC vector data and determining LULC classes in the attribute table based on percent TC criteria (interval TC- min - TC-max). The classification was adapted from the LCCS classification and partially modified. Compared to conventional digital image classification (supervised and unsupervised classifications), our digital classification method is easier and faster because Landsat TC data does not require pre-processing and reclassification to improve classification accuracy. Landsat TC classification accuracy was assessed against the interpretation of a very high spatial resolution (VHSR) image available in Google Earth (GE). The purpose of the study was to determine the ability of Landsat TC data paired with percent TC criteria of LULC adapted from the LCCS classification and validated with VHSR in GE for mapping LULC in the tropics. This study was conducted in the Upper Ciliwung watershed, which is located in Bogor Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia. LULC mapping using Landsat TC data paired with percent TC criteria of LULC adapted from the LCCS classification and validated with VHSR in GE provided a useful tool for producing LULC map in the Upper Ciliwung watershed. This study classified LULC in the Upper Ciliwung watershed consisting of settlements, closed forests, medium forests, opened forests, mix gardens, tea plantations, shrub lands, grasslands, and rainfed croplands paddy fields, fish fonds, and bare lands with overall accuracy of 91%

    Physicochemical Properties of Duck Feet Gelatin Powder Extracted with Acetic Acid

    Physiochemical properties such as colour, amino acid composition, melting temperature and hydroxyproline content determines the quality of gelatin. In this study, 4% of acetic acid was used to produce gelatin powder from Pekin, Muscovy and Khaki Campbell duck feet. The duck feet gelatin powders were analysed for their physiochemical properties and compared with commercial bovine gelatin. For colour analysis, Pekin duck feet gelatin (PDFG) had the highest L* value (21.41), followed by Khaki Campbell duck feet gelatin (KCDFG, 20.57) and Muscovy duck feet gelatin (MDFG, 17.85). KCDFG and PDFG had the same a* values (redness) which was -0.05, while the a* value of MDFG was -1.49. Lastly, the b* values of duck feet gelatin powder were 6.17, 8.47 and 9.47 for PDFG, MDFG and KCDFG, respectively. Duck feet gelatin powder had a melting temperature value of 61.91°C, 48.62°C and 44.81°C for KCDFG, MDFG and PDFG, accordingly. PDFG had the highest hydroxyproline content, which was followed by KCDEG and MDFG with the values of 9.15, 8.00 and 7.63 g/100g, respectively. The main amino acids present in the duck feet gelatin powder were glycine (21.73%, 13.62%, 13.46% and 15.33%), proline (13.08%, 8.71%, 8.39% and 9.34%), hydroxyproline (12.57%, 8.05%, 7.84% and 9.39%) and alanine (8.79%, 5.77%, 6.03%, 6.65%) for CBG, KCDFG, MDFG and PDFG, respectively. Furthermore, the lowest amino acids observed were tyrosine, histidine, methionine and isoleucine. No trace of cysteine was observed. Pekin duck feet produced the best quality gelatin compared to Khaki Campbell and Muscovy duck feet

    Study of Two-Phase Flow Behavior around Chute Aerator Using OpenFOAM

    Aeration devices are installed on chute spillways to prevent cavitation damage in high-velocity flows. Large quantities of air-entrained characterize bottom aerators along with the jet interfaces and a strong de-aeration process near the impact of the water jet with the spillway bottom. Appropriate prediction of the air entrainment process, flow characteristics, and two-phase flow pattern at the aerator would contribute to reliable spillway operation. The mathematical formulation of two-phase flow at an aerator remains a challenging issue for spillway design due to its complexities. In the present study, 2D numerical simulations are performed to predict the distribution of air concentrations, flow velocity, turbulent intensity, and water surface profile along the chute aerator using open-source OpenFOAM software and RNG k-ε turbulent model. The correlation coefficients obtained between the numerical and experimental results indicate that a proper agreement exists between the relative cavity length and velocity profile results. The research results show that the turbulent intensity of flow passing over the aerator ramp is significantly increases. It means that the ramp acts as a turbulent generator on the spillway chute. The maximum value of turbulence intensity occurs at the 6-8% of flow depth(h) from the tip of the ramp, and it is raised as the Froude number increases. It is concluded that the intake air flow rate and air-entrainment coefficient (ð›½) are linearly increased concerning the Froude number

    The Growth Performance, Heterosis Value, and Crossbreeding of Selected Japanese Broiler and Malon Quail

    This research aims to address the scarcity of broiler quail chicks with relatively large bodyweight. The present study that involved crossbreeding is expected to produce quality broiler DOQ with relatively large body weight, high efficiency, and adaptability. The crossbreeding between two different strains is often used in a production system to utilize hybrid (heterosis). This study aims to determine the growth performance and heterosis value of selected Japanese broiler quail and crossbreeding. The experiment distributed 480-day-old quails (DOQ) to four treatments and six replicates (20 DOQ each) in a Completely Randomized Design. The treatments included selected Japanese quail ♂ x selected Japanese quail ♀ (JJ), Malon♂ x Malon♀ (MM), Malon♂ x selected Japanese♀ (MJ), and selected Japanese ♂ (JM) x Malon♀. The statistical analysis employed SAS’s PROC GLM (General Linear Model) for Duncan’s test. The observed changes were feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion, and heterosis effect. This study found significant differences in feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion across treatments. The best performance was observed in the Malonx selected Japan (MJ) crossbreeding with a high weight gain (246.737 grams) and the lowest feed conversion (2,87) and feed (707.93 g)

    Evaluation of Attention and Concentration Using Mobile Computing

    The educational trend toward personalized learning requires the teacher to monitor the learning process continuously. This article presents mobile computing to administer a battery of cognitive tests based on a standard neuropsychological assessment of attention and concentration derived from Neuropsi ©. Currently, specialists perform this test by observing, measuring time, and taking notes of the process to obtain the final scores. Considering the use of this test as an assessment of students' cognitive abilities in a class, the time required for application and evaluation is a challenge itself. As for overcoming this difficulty, the process has been automated through the development of software. The goal is to provide the test to several users simultaneously on their own mobile devices. Then, it is evaluated both attention and concentration on the subject during the solution of the exercises. Variants of the exercises were provided to extent the Neuropsi options. All the collected information is stored on a server. Moreover, the system provides individual and group profiles to the evaluator, such as a teacher or instructor. Likewise, the provided compendium allows the specialist to identify changes in attention and concentration performance and supports their additional recommendations, as well as to go in deep in the research of the cognitive process providing an initial condition evaluation. This work proved that the concept raised by software specialists, designers, and psychologists is feasible into an interdisciplinary team
