Although it is seen in the literature that defense expenditures are associated with various macroeconomic variables, it can be foreseen that there is no consensus on the relationship between defense expenditures and inflation. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between defense spending and inflation in NATO countries for the period 1990-2018. For this purpose, horizontal cross-sectional dependence test was examined by the bootstrap panel causality analysis developed by Kónya (2006) following the heterogeneity tests of Pesaran and Yamagata (2008). The analysis results indicate that there is a one-way causality relationship from inflation to defense spending in the United States, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, England and Latvia.           &nbsp

    Get PDF
Given that corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been affected by various factors within or around the organization, this study focuses on the interaction of CSR with various environmental dynamics. In Turkish literature, however, this interaction has not been studied comprehensively while organizations’ CSR relationships, especially with their external environment, have remained uncertain. The study first aims to reveal the magnitude of the problem in Turkish literature related to CSR/CSR-environment interactions by reviewing the literature. Second, it seeks possible remedies for overcoming this problem by examining organizations’ relations, especially with their external environment within the scope of stakeholder theory. To achieve these aims, the study firstly provides a systematic literature review (SLR) based on the Ulakbim Social Sciences Database after some discussion about CSR-organizational environment-stakeholder relationships. This relationship landscape is then examined within the context of stakeholder theory through a traditional review of the international literature. From this analysis, a conceptual model is proposed to explain these relationships. Finally, some suggestions are presented for future studies

The study aims to uncover “environmentalist predispositions” based on the Big Five Personality with support of the theory of planned behavior and examines the effects of environmentalists’ predispositions on the recycled product preferences. Based on the big five personality traits, this paper proposes a typology on the environmentalists’ predispositions for conscious consumption studies, which consists of concern, pleasure, consciousness, beliefs, and norms. The method of the empirical study is a self-reported survey with a sample of 256 participants from a developing economy. The results of the factor analyses confirm the five-dimensional theoretical construct of individuals’ predispositions towards environmentalism. Furthermore, multiple regression analyses for testing the associations of the environmentalist predispositions on recycled product preferences disclose that among five of the dimensions, environmentalist consciousness, environmentalist beliefs, and environmentalist norms have joint effects on preferring a recycled product. This study is one of the preliminary attempts that examines the effects of environmentalist predispositions on a conscious consumption choice, specifically on preferring the recycled products, as a green purchasing behavior type
