    Get PDF

Segmenting and Profiling Online Shopping Consumers: How Do They Differ in Hedonic Shopping Motivations?

    Get PDF
The purpose of the study is to cluster online shopping customers on their loyalty levels and profile them with regards to their hedonic shopping motivations. To this end, a self-administered online survey was conducted, and 226 usable answers were obtained. First, cluster analysis was performed to segment online shoppers on their loyalty values. Later, the final three-cluster solution was profiled according to hedonic value motivations using Generalized Ordered Logit (GOLOGIT) Regression. The two-step cluster analysis revealed three clusters of online shoppers (non-loyals, moderate loyals, and true loyals). The GOLOGIT results indicated that an increase in idea shopping, role shopping, and value shopping of consumers in their online shopping experience would increase their loyalty levels (from non-loyal to moderately loyal, and from moderately loyal to true loyal). With regards to social shopping value, an increase in this dimension would be significantly affective only for non-loyal consumers, increasing their odds of being in the second (moderately loyal) or third (true loyal). This finding would help in the differentiation of marketing strategies for each segment, which would advance business competitiveness. Considering the increasing importance of online shopping among consumers, findings of this study is expected to contribute to the literature

    Get PDF
Human capital is a one of the essential components in the economic growth and development. Also, the belief that education and health level, which are the main components of human capital, are main features of a happy and healthy society, is getting stronger. But there is a fact that crime is a destructive notion that affects a society’s human capital.  In this context, this study aims to create an alternative social welfare measurement method that includes crime rates as a component to human capital on Euro Zone countries. In this regard, first, a general crime index was generated by using 13 different crime categories of the Euro Zone countries, and then this index was adapted to the Human Capital Index. As a result, the Crime-Adjusted Human Capital Index (CAHCI) was obtained. It was observed that the country rankings we obtained based on the CAHCI differ significantly from the rankings made based on the Human Capital Index. Significant number of countries, which ranks high in the Human Capital Index, ranks lower when crime rates are considered, indicates that the reliability of social welfare measures based on human capital should be questioned

Investigating the Relationship Between Brand Experience Dimensions and Brand Resonance Through Two Different Brands Selected from the Cosmetics and Food Sectors

    Get PDF
In today's global competitive environment, where the functional benefits of products and services converge, the concept of experience has become increasingly important for brands in creating customer loyalty. In the present study, the effects of sensory, affective, behavioral and intellectual dimensions of brand experience on brand resonance, which represents a high level of active loyalty and interaction in the brand-customer relationship, were examined through two brands selected from two different sectors. The research was carried out using the survey method by reaching a total of 465 people who are users of the relevant brands. In the analysis of the collected data, it was aimed to determine the effect of different dimensions of brand experience on brand resonance separately, and to compare the results by repeating the analysis for both brands. The results obtained in the study show that affective, behavioral and intellectual experiences had a significant effect on brand resonance in both selected brands, while sensory experience dimension did not make a statistically significant contribution to explaining brand resonance

Revisiting The Exchange Rate Pass-Through in Turkey Economy: Evidence from Structural VAR Model

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article is to examine the pass-through of exchange rate fluctuations on the domestic price level in Turkey. To this effect, the interaction between exchange rate fluctuations, producer price index, and the consumer price index was analyzed using the SVAR model. The degree of exchange rate pass-through was examined with the help of cumulative ERPT elasticities based on impulse response functions. Besides, the monetary policy interest rate variable is also included in the model to make inferences about the CBRT's policy stance against the exchange rate and price fluctuations. Study findings reveal that exchange rate pass-through is incomplete in Turkey, however, there is a high degree of pass-through of exchange rate fluctuations to producer prices than there is to consumer prices. Study results also point that the CBRT’s policy interest rate is not an important determinant of the exchange rate and price levels. However, Central bank policies with stable and reliable commitments are recommended

    Get PDF
Considering the recent growth pattern of the digital world, this paper investigates the impact of technological progress on economic growth based on endogenous technological change models by using patent applications, mobile phone and internet users, research, and development expenditures as an independent variable to economic growth in BRICS-T countries from 2004 to 2018. Panel data set with various tests is used to provide the relationship between the dependent variable (economic growth) and independent variables for these countries. The existence of long-run relationship between economic growth and technological variables concludes that technology usage has significant and positive impact on economic growth in the long term. And it reveals the motivation for governments to adopt specific policies by accelerating investments against the productivity paradox. Based on these empirical findings, further policy implications for economic growth and technological development are discussed
