PENGARUH INOKULASI CENDAWAN MIKORIZA ARBUSKULA (CMA) DAN BERBAGAI TARAF PUPUK P TERHADAP KADAR P DAUN DAN KUALITAS BmIT KELAPA SAWIT (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) DI PEMBIBITAN PENDAHULUAN
Glasshouse experiment was conducted to study the effect of mycorrhizae inoculation and it\u27s interaction with P supply on P leaf content and quality of oil palm seedling. Factorial experiment was arranged in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The first factor were mycorrhizae inoculation : without inoculation, mixed mycorrhizae, Acaulospora sp, Glomus manihotis, Glomus sp.1, Glomus sp. 2, Glomus sp. 3, The second factor were level of Roch Phosphate fertilizer : 0 g/seedling, 2 g/seedling, 4 g/seedling and 6 g/seedling. Mycorrhizae inoculation affected the P leaf content and percentage of infection significantly, Glomus sp decreased P leaf content. Acaulospora sp. gave the best quality of seedling, but Glomus sp. 3 gave the bad one. The Rock Phosphate application did not affect on P leaf content absorption efficiency and inoculation percentage due to high soil phosphorus content
STUDI FENOLOGI DAN PENGARUH POSISI BUAH SERTA UKURAN BENIH TERHADAP VIABILITAS BENIH GMELINA (Gmelina arborea Roxb)
The objective of this research was to study the development of the flower and fruit, to enable determining physiological maturity (PM) and the effect of fruit position and seed size on seed viability of Gmelina. Gmelina seed reaches physiological maturity at the age 32 days after anthesis to have maximum potential viability, vigor and seed dry weight. Fruit position has significant effect on germination potential. Seed size do not affect parameter observed, and so is the interaction between seed position and seed size. Fruit from the middle part of the tree\u27s stand has the highest germination potential and those from the top has the lowest. Seed having small (size 15-20 mm) has better viability compared with the big ones (> 20 mm) and seed from the fruit of the top and below which size 15-20 mm and > 20 mm
PEMILIHAN BAHAN PEMULIAAN JAGUNG UNTUK PEMBENTUKAN VARIETAS UNGGUL DISKRIMINATIF TUMPANGSARI: PADI + JAGUNG + UBIKAYU DI LAHAN KERING.II. STABILITAS RELATIF BASIL BIJI PIPILAN KERlNG
Intercropping of maize, rice and cassava is commonly practiced by subsistent farmers on rainfed agriculture in Indonesia. In general, grain yield (if maize in intercropping is lower than in monoculture sole crop. This due to the fact that maize varieties planted in intercropping was bred and selected under elite, monoculture crop environment. Field experiments to evaluate grain yield relative stability (if the three selected maize breeding materials planted in association with rice and cassava were carried out In Pekalongan (Lampung), December 1994 - September 1995. All three breeding materials are relatively stable in respect to grain yield. Individual selection in MC-1 population will be practiced in association with rice and cassava
PENGARUH DOSIS FUNGISIDA DAN PERIODE PENYIMPANAN TERHADAP VIABILITAS BENIH KAKAO (Theobroma cacao L.)
The experiment of seed treatment and storage longevity on cacao seed valiability was. conducted at Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Departement of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agriculture University since March to July 1995. The objectives of this experiment were to find out the optimum dosage of fungicide treatment and storability on cacao seed. Split plot design was used in this experiment; main plot were storage periods i.e. I, 3, 5, 7, and 9 weeks and .sub plots were dosages of fungicide (active ingredient carbendazim + mankozeb) 0, 2, 4, 6, g/kg of ,seed with 3 replication. Each unit consisted of 40 seeds. Result (the experiment indicated that control seed (without fungicide) were infected by fungi 90.67 % on the first week and its germination capacity was only 57.33 %. Fungi infection increased rapidly after 1 week and its caused the viability lost. Application of 2, 4, 6 g fungicide/kg of seeds inhibited fungi growth and that treatments maintained seed viabilility until 9 weeks of storage periods. There are no significant difference among fungicide dosage, except on index vigor; application of 4 and 6 g (of fungicide result lower index vigor. Better fungicide dosage was4 .21g/kg of seeds based on quadratic regression Y = 20.80 + 43.10 X - 5.12 X2 (Y = germination capacity, X = dosage fungicide). Dominant fungi infected on seed storage were identified as Fusarium sp and Aspergillus sp. The storability of cacao seed with fungicide treatments on 9 weeks of storage period were still relatively high, the germination capacity more than 80% and the seeding vigor were not different among of all storage period
PENGARUH HIDROGEN SIANAMIDA TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN PRODUKSI TANAMAN TEH (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze) SETELAH PEMANGKASAN
The experiment was aimed to study the effect of hydrogen cynamide on tea growth and production after pruning. The experiment was conducted at Goalpara Tea Plantation (1100 m above sea levels) from September 1994 to March 1995. Clone TR12025 planted in 1976 with 29 months pruning cycle was pruned a week before application of hydrogen cynamide. Randomized Complete Block Design was used in this experiment with four treatments and four replications. Treatments consist of hydrogen cynamide 0.00 % (control), 0.50 %, 1.25 % and 2.50 %. An experiment unit consists of 20 tea plants. The results showed that treatments of hydrogen cynamide was not significantly increase the number of shoots and weight of "tipping" (shoot tipped on first plucking). The production was not significantly increased by the treatments. However, hydrogen cynamide at 0.50 % could increase 11.5 % fresh weight (equivalent 0f 9.9 % dry weight)
SALT TOLERANCE OF TURF GRASS Puccinellia distans: I. GROWTH RESPONSE AND ION ACCUMULATION
The aim of this study was to see the salt tolerance of turf grass Puccinellia distans in term of ion accumulation and ionic interactions under salt stress condition. Plants were grown hidroponically in culture solution with addition of NaCI (0, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mM). High concentrations of NaCI brought about growth reduction; the decrease of shoot dry matters was in the range of 30-84% and 30- 70% for root dry matters. Although the yield of plants decreased so much in the presence of 200 mM NaCI, but plants were able to remain alive without showing any visible symptoms of injury. Much more Na was accumulated in the roots than in the shoots. Exposing plants to salinity result in the decrease of K, Ca, and Mg contents
PENGARUH PUPUK FOSFOR DAN KALIUM TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL BENIH KENAF (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) PADA TANAH LATOSOL
The experiment was aimed to study the effects of phosphorous and potassium fertilizers on growth and seed yield of kenaf on Latosol. The experiment was carried out at Tajur Experimental Station, IPB Bogor, from January 1991 to July 1991. The seed germination test was held in the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology IPB, Bogor. Kenaf variety Hc-48 was used in this experiment. The two factor factorial experiment was arranged in Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. The first factor was 4 levels of phosphorous fertilizer: 0, 30, 60 and 90 kg P2O5/ha. The second factor was 3 levels of potassium fertilizer: 0, 60 and 120 kg K2O/ha. Phosphorous and potassium fertilization each increased significantly plant height, stem diameter, the number of mature and total fruit per plant, seed yield per hectar: however there were no significant effect on percentage of mature fruit, number of seeds per fruit, weight of 1,000 seeds and seed germination. The dosage of phosphorous fertilizer until 90 kg P2O5/ha still increased yield linearly, otherwise the optimum dosage of potassium fertilizer was reached on 69.31 kg K2O/ha with seed yield 2,036.48 kg/ha. There was no interaction effect between P and K fertilization
PENGUJIAN PERTUMBUHAN DAN PERKEMBANGAN EMPAT JENIS TANAMAN LEGUMINOSAE PADA TANAH BE:KAS PERTAMBANGAN TIMAH (TAlLING) DI PULAU BANGKA
An experiment to test the growth and development of selected legumes, i.e. Peltophorum pterocarpus DC Heyne (soga), Cassia multijuga Rich. (kasia), Cassia surattensi Burm. f. (galenggang) and Caesalpinia pulcherrima Swartz (kembang merak), on tin tailings was conducted at Tambang Terentang 25, Pangkal Pinang Production Site, Bangka Tin Miningfrom mid March 1989 to January 1990. The four legumes were selected for the facility in obtaining seed, their ability to improve soil fertility, and their ornamental value. The experiment on four legumes on tin tailing, compared to those grown on yellowish brown Podzol association and Bangka podzol, consisted of four parallel trial units based on the randomized block design with three replications. The tests results of 14 weeks of growth indicate the legumes tested, with the exception of Cassia surattensi Burm.f possess an adequate potential to be grown and developed on tin tailing for the improvement of visual quality, vertical and horizontal structure, and ecological function of the lanscape tailing on Bangka Island.
Induksi dan Proliferasi Kalus Embriogenik pada Beberapa Genotipe Kedelai
The successful of gene transformation on crop plants depends on the ability of explant to develop somatic embryos. The effect of medium composition on induction and proliferation of embryonic callus was analyzed on several soybean genotypes, including low irradiance (LI) tolerant genotype (Ceneng, Pangrango C6-30-10 and C6-76-10) and two LI sensitive genotypes (Godeg and Slamet). Immature cotyledons (14 DAA) were cultured in induction medium including MSIA (MS, vitamin B5, 30% sucrose, 0.2% gelrite, 10 mg L-1 2,4-D and 10 mg L-1 NAA) and MSIB (MS, vitamin B5, 30% sucrose, 0.2% gelrite, and 40 mg L-1 2,4-D). Embryonic calli was subcultered one month after initiation onto proliferation medium including MSIIA (MS, vit. B5, 30% sucrose, 0.2% gelrite, 5 mg L-1 2,4-D and 5 mg L-1 NAA) and MSIIB (MS, vitamin B5, 30% sucrose, 0.2% gelrite, and 20 mg L-1 2,4-D). The result showed that percentage of callused explant was 76-94% and the highest initiation obtained on Pangrango genotypes. The average of calli diameter at 1 month after initiation was 0.5-1.2 cm. Calli which was obtained on MSIA medium showed yellow, tranparent, and friable, whereas calli was obtained on MSIB medium showed yellow-brown, transparent, and friable. Increasing calli diameter and structure were obtained on proliferation medium. The combination of 2,4-D and NAA on MSIA and MSIIA both are induction and proliferation medium respectively were better than MSIB and MSIIB which were contain only 2,4-D. Ceneng genotype showed best performance of somatic embryogenesis than others, and Slamet genotype showed lowest response both on callus induction and proliferation.
