The Effects of
Tea mistletoe (Scurrula atropurpurea) and mango mistletoe (Dendrophthoe pentandra) (SADP) are parasitic plants that are widely utilized as folk medicines due to the presence of some active flavonoid compounds. However, there are no scientific reports regarding the effects of SADP on platelet and leukocyte profiles in humans. Therefore, we studied the impact of SADP on healthy human subjects. This single-blinded clinical trial involved 15 days of oral administration of SADP capsules and enrolled 28 residents of Malang. They were then divided into two groups: a placebo group (n=13) and a treatment group (n=15). The treatment group received 560 mg of S. atropurpurea and 187 mg of the D. pentandra leaves powder. After 15 days, subjects were measured for platelet, leukocyte counts, platelet distribution width (PDW), and leukocyte differential count. Our findings showed no significant differences between the placebo and treatment groups in platelet and leukocyte counts, PDW, or leukocyte differential counts. It can be concluded that SADP administered orally for 15 days was safe in healthy human subjects
Biological Activities of Endophytic Fungi from Mango Mistletoe
Endophytic fungi represent a valuable source of bioactive compounds, with their metabolite production often shaped by host plants. Notably, endophytic from parasitic plants, such as mistletoe, remain relatively underexplored. This study aimed to isolation and evaluation the antioxidant and antibacterial potential of endophytic fungi associated with mango mistletoe (Dendrophthoe pentandra) and tea mistletoe (Scurrula atropurpurea). A total of 11 fungal isolates were obtained from mistletoe organs, including leaves, stems, flowers, and petioles. All isolates underwent liquid fermentation for 14-21 days to yield fungal extracts. Antioxidant activity was measured using the DPPH radical scavenging method with ascorbic acid as a standard, while antibacterial effects against Escherichia coli were assessed by the disc diffusion method with chloramphenicol as a positive control. Five isolates EFPM 1, EFPM 2, EFPM 3, EFFM, and EFSM 2 exhibited antioxidant activity, though relatively weak compared to ascorbic acid. In contrast, EFSM 2, EFPM 1, EFLT 1 & 2 displayed measurable antibacterial activity, with inhibition zones ranging from 6.26 to 11.95 mm, lower than chloramphenicol. These findings collectively demonstrate the value of bioprospecting endophytic fungi from mango and tea mistletoe, highlighting their potential as a natural source of therapeutic compounds for the discovery of new drugs
County Economic Regeneration through Cultural Economic Geography: The Case of Rongjiang's “Village Super League”
Amidst the weakening of traditional growth drivers, the cultural economy has emerged as a vital pathway for urban regeneration in China’s county-level cities. Focusing on the “Rongjiang Village Super League (VSL)” in Guizhou, this study adopts a cultural economic geography perspective to construct a “cultural capital transformation–industrial response” framework. We use a mixed-methods approach that integrates interrupted time series analysis of panel data (2012–2024) with in-depth interviews, we examine how localized cultural capital drives economic regeneration. Results show that the VSL, as an endogenous form of behavioral cultural capital, significantly transforms into economic value: accelerating tertiary sector growth and spurring a surge in cultural and sports enterprises. Three mechanisms—emotional activation of local identity, convergence of external resources, and industrial cross-boundary integration—underpin this transformation, collectively reshaping the county’s socioeconomic space. This study empirically validates the role of behavioral cultural capital in county-level regeneration, offering a grassroots Chinese case for culture-driven development
Data-Driven Optimisation of Supply-Demand Balance for Shared Bicycles
With the rapid proliferation of shared bicycles in urban transport, the imbalance between supply and demand distribution has become increasingly pronounced. The coexistence of vehicle shortages in high-demand areas and idle bicycles in low-demand zones is particularly evident during morning and evening rush hours. Existing research typically treats hotspot identification, demand forecasting, and dispatch optimisation as independent tasks, hindering the formation of a unified decision chain and constraining improvements in dispatch efficiency. To address this, this paper constructs an operational optimisation framework integrating spatial clustering, demand forecasting, and intelligent dispatch. First, irregularly distributed hotspot areas are identified through grid processing and DBSCAN density clustering. Second, a high-precision short-term demand forecast is achieved using an XGBoost model that integrates spatio-temporal features with historical data. Finally, based on the forecast results, an ant colony optimisation algorithm generates dispatch plans that balance both path efficiency and utilisation rates. Experiments using five days of real-world cycling data from Xiamen demonstrate that DBSCAN captures hotspot structures more accurately than K-Means, XGBoost achieves a 34% reduction in RMSE compared to the baseline model, and the ant colony algorithm reduces dispatch distances by 18% relative to a greedy strategy. These findings validate the framework's effectiveness in mitigating supply-demand imbalances and enhancing operational efficiency
Complete Convergence for the Maximum Partial Sums of
In this paper, the author obtains complete convergence for the maximum partial sums of m-widely orthant dependent (m-WOD) random variables sequences under some general conditions. The results extend the complete convergence for m-WOD random variables to a much more general type complete convergence. As the sequences of m-WOD random variables represent a very broad class of dependent sequences, the results improve and generalize the corresponding ones in the literature
The Role of Digital Green Campaigns in Shaping Willingness to Pay for Carbon Accounting: The Mediating Effect of Green Awareness among Gen-Z
This study confirms that digital green campaigns can significantly foster students’ willingness to financially support carbon accounting mechanisms beyond simple green product purchases through the mediating role of green awareness. The findings clarify how digital exposure translates into internalized pro-environmental values that drive demand for transparency in carbon emissions reporting. These insights offer both theoretical and practical implications for sustainability communication, particularly in emerging economies such as Indonesia. Future research should explore how WTP for carbon accountability evolves across age groups, under different digital campaign designs, and in alignment with national carbon policy instruments. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 324 university students in Indonesia using validated scales. Data were analyzed using PLS-SEM to examine direct and indirect relationships. The findings indicate that both green awareness and digital engagement have a significant and positive effect on WTP. In particular, digital engagement, measured by the frequency of interactions with environmental content on social media, shows stronger predictive power. These results suggest that increasing digital exposure to sustainability issues could enhance support for carbon accountability programs. The study offers practical implications for sustainability campaigns targeting Gen Z and contributes to the literature on sustainability accounting
Molybdenum and ruthenium in the Galactic disk: A closer look at their nucleosynthesis components
Context. The stellar origin of the elements molybdenum (Mo, Z = 42) and ruthenium (Ru, Z = 44) is still a matter of debate. Studying their abundances provides valuable insights into nucleosynthesis processes and the broader evolution of neutron-capture elements.
Aims. The aim of this work is to present new observations of Mo and Ru, together with nearby neutron-capture elements strontium (Sr) and zirconium (Zr) for a new sample of 154 giant stars, located in the Galactic disk with metallicities −1 < [Fe/H] < +0.3.
Methods. The abundances were determined under the assumption of the local thermodynamic equilibrium by fitting synthetic spectra. The abundances of Mo were derived from the Mo I lines at 5506 and 5533 Å, while the abundances of Ru were determined from Ru I lines at 4584, and 4757 Å. The abundances of Sr and Zr were measured using lines of Sr II at 4077 and 4215 Å and lines of Zr I at 5385, 6127, and 6134 Å.
Results. We derived Sr, Zr, and Mo abundances for all stars in our sample, and Ru for 110 stars. For most of the giant stars observed in this work, Mo and Ru abundances were determined for the first time. We compare our observations with the signatures from different nucleosynthesis processes.
Conclusions. Both the [Mo/Fe] and [Ru/Fe] in our stars show a decreasing trend with respect to increasing [Fe/H]. This pattern is similar to that of [Zr/Fe], whereas [Sr/Fe] exhibits a relatively flat trend with metallicity. These results are compatible with our previous measurements obtained for dwarf stars over the same metallicity range. Compared to the s-process ratios, all stars show a lower [Zr/Mo] and a higher [Ru/Mo], as expected from classical nucleosynthesis. Still, it is unclear if additional contributions from neutrino-wind components or the i-process is needed to explain the observed scatter of [Zr/Mo] and [Ru/Mo] in the Milky Way disk. Indeed, such a dispersion is consistent with the variations also seen in r-II stars at low metallicity and could therefore result from the combined contributions of r-process and s-process to galactic chemical evolution. The observed [Zr/Mo] and [Ru/Mo] scatter in r-II stars should be constrained by future investigations to define if any contributions of additional nucleosynthesis components are needed

Avec ce numéro 61(1), Radioprotection, la revue internationale de la société française de radioprotection (SFRP), fête son 60eme anniversaire. De nombreuses évolutions marqué ces décennies depuis le premier bulletin de la SFRP. Entre changements d’éditeurs, de couverture, de politique éditoriale et transformation de ’édition scientifique, le journal Radioprotection a profondément évolué. Dans cet article anniversaire, nous nous sommes attachés aux évolutions récentes du journal, essentiellement portées par la révolution numérique et l’apparition du concept de science ouverte
Integration of green open spaces in regenerative housing development: Developer and government policy
The integration of Green Open Spaces (GOS) within regenerative housing development is increasingly recognized as essential for achieving sustainable, livable, and climate-resilient urban environments. However, in many developing regions, economic constraints, fragmented regulations, and limited policy coordination continue to hinder effective implementation. This study aims to address this research gap by systematically reviewing global and regional approaches to GOS integration, emphasizing the interaction among governments, developers, and communities. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework was conducted, analyzing 22 peer-reviewed studies published between 2019 and 2024 from databases including Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The analysis focused on four variables: environmental and social benefits of GOS, existing barriers, policy and developer strategies, and best practices from international case studies. Findings reveal that GOS significantly enhance ecological resilience, public health, and social cohesion, yet remain undervalued in market-oriented housing systems. Effective governance, financial incentives, and participatory design emerged as critical success factors. This study contributes a conceptual framework linking ecological restoration, socioeconomic equity, and policy mechanisms under a regenerative paradigm. The results provide actionable insights for policymakers and developers to integrate GOS as a core component of regenerative housing, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advancing cities toward net-zero and restorative futures
A Comparison of compressed air and steam soot blowers in steam boilers
Ash and soot fouling of boiler tubes impairs heat transfer, elevating fuel consumption and emissions while reducing overall plant performance. Soot-blowers clean boiler tubes on-line. This study presents a comparative analysis of steam and compressed air soot-blowing systems on coal-fired industrial boilers in South Africa. This work quantifies the capital, operational, maintenance, and emission costs. The report addresses the technical performance and practical application such as pressure stability, moisture-related erosion, and cleaning effectiveness. For similar capital costs, the compressed air soot-blowers have a 60% lower operation cost, 80% lower carbon emissions and save eighty-five cubic meters of water annually. This analysis supports soot blower selection to optimise economic, and environmental outcomes
