Development of volumetric adsorption system for multicomponent gas capture: Utilizing bio-metal organic framework for CO
A novel three-chamber volumetric multicomponent gas system is developed to monitor CO₂ adsorption for carbon capture systems. Using ultrasonic-synthesized Bio-MOF Co-Glu adsorbent, a water bath and coil heaters has been maintained isothermal conditions for CO₂ adsorption in an 85:15 CO₂/N2 at 27°C and pressures of 12 bars. Both measuring cells (Main Chamber-1 and Main Chamber-2) showed a maximum CO₂ adsorption capacity of 0.12 g/g. X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller confirmed, biological metal organic framework doped Cobalt Glu gas capture capabilities with its crystalline structure, functional groups, and wide surface area. Advanced volumetric methods for multicomponent gas adsorption estimate partial pressures and individual gas uptakes in mixtures based on a volumetric framework, with non-ideal gas behaviour, The results show that the biological metal organic framework doped Cobalt Glu adsorbent coupled with volumetric equipment may advance multicomponent gas adsorption research
Novel compact and efficient electromagnetic switching system for controlled wave propagation
This study proposes a novel electromagnetic switching system designed to control wave propagation in the MHz frequency range. The proposed configuration consists of two input channels and one output channel. Each input channel includes a resonator of height strongly influences electromagnetic waves through the system. By adjusting the resonator height in each input channel, the switching process is efficiently controlled. We use the transfer matrix method (TMM), which provides a clear understanding of how change in the geometrical parameter of the resonator affect the transmission rates in the output channel. The obtained analytical results are validated through Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations performed in COMSOL. Our results show that waves traveling from input channel 1 to the output channel (ON state) with a transmission rate T13 =1, while waves from input channel 2 to the output channel (OFF state) are almost completely annulled, with T23 approaching zero. When the resonator heights are modified, the propagation path is reversed, demonstrating a clear and reversible switching effect. These findings confirm that the proposed photonic device enables precise and stable control of electromagnetic waves transmission
Flood Hazard Detection in Data-Scarce Regions: A Case Study of a Semi-Arid River in Northeastern Morocco
Forecasting flood hazard areas often presents substantial challenges in data-scarce regions. In our case study, we used HEC-RAS model to identify flood risk zones for various return periods along an ungauged river in a semi-arid region. Our focus was on the densely populated area surrounding the Larbaâ River in Taza City. The model inputs comprise peak flow estimates derived from the GRADEX method, physical parameters approximated using standardized tables (Manning coefficient), and other measurements taken directly in the field. During the calibration phase, critical adjustments were made to ensure the model’s stability and its ability to generate results within an acceptable range. Our findings indicated that the numerical model successfully identified vulnerable areas. The floodplain closely aligns with the extent of the 100-year flood, highlighting all regions susceptible to flooding. The results were also consistent with flood events from the past two decades, underscoring the model’s predictive accuracy regarding the river’s behavior. These insights will inform future urban planning initiatives, enabling local authorities to implement effective mitigation strategies. This study demonstrates that the model is a valuable tool for comprehensive flood risk assessment, particularly in areas lacking monitoring
Shikshaagrama: An Offline-first Multilingual Digital Learning Platform
The Shikshaagrama platform aims to address the persistent lack of accessible and standardized educational resources in rural India, where unreliable connectivity and limited digital infrastructure continue to restrict the learning experience of students. Existing digital learning systems often depend on stable internet access and fail to provide multilingual content suited for low-resource environments. This study introduces an offline-first, multilingual mobile learning solution offering NCERT textbooks, audiobooks, career guidance, news updates, and a discussion forum in English, Hindi, and Kannada. The platform was developed using the Flutter framework and optimized through local storage management and Firebase integration. Functional testing, offline usability evaluation, and pilot testing were conducted among learners in rural and semi-urban areas. Results show an average loading time of 1.8 seconds, 90.8% speech recognition accuracy, and 92% user satisfaction. These findings demonstrate the potential of lightweight, multilingual, and offline-capable platforms to enhance digital learning accessibility. The system aligns with Digital India and NEP 2020 goals and provides a scalable foundation for inclusive education
Sustainable Wastewater Management: Learning from Vedic Practices and Modern Innovations
Awareness and practice of sustainable wastewater management is increasingly important owing to high population growth, high urbanisation and need to reclaim resources from the waste streams. These contemporary engineering techniques have opened up creative technologies for sewage treatment and even circular economy paradigms, but these systems tend to resemble ancient precepts in the Vedic texts as well as Indian traditional philosophies. This will be a cross between new scientific developments and the philosophical and practical frameworks introduced in ancient Vedic literature. By examining classical works, hydrologist, modern-day processes and case studies, an integrated plan based around a heritage technology-integrated management is recommended for future water resources
Trends and insights in cannabis sativa-based wastewater treatment: A systematic review
This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of peer-reviewed articles published between 1994 and 2024, extracted from Web of Science and Scopus databases and analyzed using the “bibliometrix” tool in R, to examine advances in wastewater treatment technologies using hemp (Cannabis sativa) and hemp-based materials. Data visualization, conducted using “biblioshiny” and “VOSviewer”, revealed a steady increase in research output over the past three decades. The analysis details key patterns in scientific output, including the leading research fields, contributing countries, institutions, core journals, prolific authors, highly cited papers, and most frequent keywords. Environmental Sciences and Engineering were the most prominent fields, with China identified as the leading contributor. Among the authors, Crini G was recognized as the most influential, serving as the first author of the publication with the highest scholarly impact. The findings present valuable insights into the evolution, current state, and emerging trends of research on hemp-based applications in wastewater treatment
Roomify: A Real-time Space Allocation System
Inefficient room management is a major concern for academic institutions, often resulting in inconsistent venue bookings. Issues such as double bookings, unrecorded cancellations, and underutilized spaces complicate campus operations. To address these challenges, this project presents 'Roomify', a campus-wide, interactive, real-time room booking system. Unlike existing legacy systems which often lack real-time synchronization and fail to prevent double-bookings effectively, Roomify provides a comprehensive solution featuring user registration, conflict-free booking reconciliation, administrative oversight, and automated notifications. The system intervenes to update real-time asset availability, ensuring rooms are utilized efficiently. Roomify is designed as an extensible application, setting a new standard for resource management through integrated data analytics and a user-friendly interface accessible across devices. Finally, the system includes a feedback mechanism that analyzes historical booking data to improve future reservation efficiency
