EFFECT OF TIME DRYING ON THE PROCESSING OF COW SKIN CRACKERSThis study aims to determine the effect of drying time in the processing of cowhide into crackers. The main material used is cow skin obtained from stomach. This research was conducted through an experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and 5 replications. The research variables observed included moisture content, development volume, color, aroma, crunchy, and taste. Analysis of variance showed that the effect of drying time on the process of making cowhide crackers had a significant effect (P <0.05) on moisture content. While the effect of drying time on the process of making cowhide crackers on the volume of development, color, aroma, crispness, and taste had a very significant effect (P <0.01). The average value of moisture 2.84-2.31%, development volume 177.22 -1801.65% and the average value of cowhide crackers consisting of colors 3.87 - 5.05, aroma 3.80 - 4,92, crunchy 3.00 - 5.25 and taste 3.25 - 5.05. The conclusion of this study is that the processing of cowhide crackers with a drying time of 36 hours at 60 ° C can produce good quality and preferred cowhide crackers.Keywords: Cowhide, Drying time, Cowhide cracker

ANALYSIS OF MARKETING MIXED FACTORS ON BROILER MEAT PURCHASING DECISION AT  PRESHMART SUPER STORE BAHU, MALALAYANG DISTRICT OF MANADO CITY. Broiler meats were categorized into popular high nutrient food product to supply protein needs of human being. The activities applied by the super store to overcome the high competition supplying consumers were to define the marketing strategy. A certain important strategy was mixed marketing. Strategy of mixed marketing was only applied to obtain the satisfaction wanted by consumers. The objective of this study was to evaluate factors affecting consumers to decide their decision on broiler meat purchasing at the fresh-mart super store Bahu, Mando. A total of hundred purchasers were chosen to be samples using accidental sampling method. Analysis was done by SPSS program for Windows version 23. Data were analyzed by factors analysis model, continued by multiple regression to define the effects of factors of mixed marketing on purchasing decision by consumers. The factors affecting purchasing decision by consumers were meat color (X1), reached price (X2), strategic location (X3), and advertising material (X4). The dominant factor affecting purchasing decision was meat color (X1) with the highest regression coefficient of 0.725
PENGARUH PENGGANTIAN JAGUNG DENGAN MOLASES TERHADAP PERFORMA TERNAK KELINCI
THE EFFECT OF REPLACEMENT OF CORN IN RATION WITH MOLASSES ON RABBIT PERFORMANCE. This study conducted to determine effect of molasses use replacing corn in ration on the performance of rabbits. The study used 25 weaned rabbits at age of 6 weeks old under individual cages. Each cage unit was occupied by 1 rabbit. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications was applied in this study. Rates of giving molasses in feed were as follows: Ration containing corn without molasses (R0), Ration replacing corn of 25% with molasses (R1),  Ration replacing corn of 50% with molasses (R2), Ration replacing corn of 75% with molasses (R3), and Ration replacing corn of 100% with molasses (R4). The measured variables were including feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion and energy consumption. The results showed that the averages of feed consumption were 78.07 to 95.20 g/head/day, weight gain were 9.7 to 12.02 g/head/day, feed conversion were 7.90 to 8.71 g/head/day and energy consumption were 2732.54 to 3076.10 Kcal/Kg. Based on the results analysis, the use of molasses substituting corn had a significantly different effect (P <0.01) on feed consumption, weight gain and energy consumption. Based on this research it can be concluded that molasses can replace corn up to the level of 75% or 35.25% in rabbit animal feed ingredients. Keywords: Molasses, corn, rabbit, feed intake, weight gai
KUALITAS SEMEN SAPI PEJANTAN SIMMENTAL DAN LIMOUSIN YANG DIPELIHARA DALAM TIPE KANDANG YANG BERBEDA DI BALAI INSEMINASI BUATAN LEMBANG
SEMEN QUALITY OF LIMOUSIN AND SIMMENTAL BULLS MAINTAINED IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF PENS AT THE INSTITUTION OF LEMBANG ARTIFICIAL. The intensive maintenance of bulls included animal house and pens protecting animals against sunlight, cool effect, rain, high speed of win and other predators. Objective of this study was to evaluate effects of single bull in a pen (SB) and double bulls in a pen (DB) on semen quality of Limousin and Simmental bulls at the Institution of Lembang Artificial Insemination in West Java. Primer and secondary data of both bulls reproduction were used in this study and analyzed by t test method. Results showed that average volume of semen in both bulls of Limousin and Simmental under SB (9.54 ± 2.19 mL/ejaculation) was significantly higher of 7.67 percents than those of bulls under DB (8.86 ± 1.79 mL/ejaculation). The average of percentage of spermatozoa motility in both bulls of Limousin and Simmental under DB (71.00 ± 2.67) was not significantly differ with those of bulls under SB (70.10 ± 2.37). The average of spermatozoa mass movement in both bulls of Limousin and Simmental under SB (1.84 ± 0.37) was significantly more aggressive of 5.43 percents than those of bulls under DB (1.94 ± 0.24). Finally, the average of pH of semen in both bulls of Limousin and Simmental under SB (6.66 ± 0.11) was not significantly differ with those of bulls under DB (6.64 ± 0.10). Correlation between reproduction variables of both Limousinand Simmental bulls in SB and DB was not correlated between one and another variables indicated by correlation values ranging from -0.29 to 0.18. Based of the result of study can be concluded that semen quality of Limousin and Simental in single pen was better than that in double pens. The correlations among reproductive veriables of Limousin and Simmental in both sigle and double pens had no correlation between one and another variable. Keyword: Type of Pen, Semen Quality, Simmental Bull, Limousin Bull

THE PRODUCTION OF BENGAL GRASS (Panicum maximum cv. Jacq) GIVEN BIO-SLURRY FERTILIZER OF PIG. This research aimed the role of bio-slurry fertilizer on the production of Bengal grass (Panicum Maximum Cv. Jacq). The study was conducted for 3 months in the greenhouse of the Sam Ratulangi University Manado Faculty of Animal Husbandry. North Sulawesi. The experimental design used in this study was a completely randomized dsign (CRD) with four treatments, that: without fertilizer (B0), 10 tons / ha (B1), 20 tons / ha (B2), and 30 tons / ha (B3). Each treatment replicated 4 times and gave 16 experimental units. The variables were the production of fresh weight of leaves, the production of fresh stem weight, the production of leaf dry weight, production stem dry weight. The results of this study concluded that 30 tons/ha (B3) bio-slurry had highest fresh weight of leaves, fresh weight of stems and the dry weight of leaves, and dry weight of stems.  Keywords: production, bengal grass, bio-slurr

PHENOTYPE CHARACTERISTICS OF SOME QUANTITATIVE TRAITS OF NATIVE CHICKEN IN MINAHASA. This study aims to obtain a measure of the phenotypic character of the quantitative traits of native chickens in Minahasa, North Sulawesi. This research was useful as additional information about the quantitative character of native chickens in Minahasa as a reference in efforts to preserve genetic resources (SDG) both for the development of native chickens and other breeding purposes. The material used was 291 male and female native chickens that had been separated by age (6 months and above) and had reached adult sex in the Minahasa Regency. The research method used was descriptive analysis (average, standard deviation, coefficient of variation and correlation) and continued withT-test. Retrieval of data by direct observation and measurement of quantitative properties based on the observed parameters. The results of this study illustrate the phenotypic character of quantitative traits of male and female native chickens in Minahasa where the size of the FL (femur length) and WL (wing length) were not different or the same in both sexes. SC (shank circumference) and CL (comb length)  were    significantly different (P<0.05), while the trait of TL (tibia length), SL (shank length), TFL (third finger length), CH (comb height) showed differences very significant (P<0.01). It can be concluded quatitavive characteristics of native chicken in Minahasa were diverse and correlate from high to low.Keywords: native chicken, phenotype, quantitative characteristics
ANALISIS KELAYAKAN USAHA BROILER DI KELURAHAN TARATARA I KECAMATAN TOMOHON BARAT KOTA TOMOHON
FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS OF BROILERS IN TARATARA I VILAGE WEST TOMOHON DISTRICT TOMOHON CITY. Broiler business which is run by partnership pattern, is one of the suppliers of food products that source animal protein. Increased demand for broiler meat, needs to be followed by business development that has previously calculated the level of business feasibility. This study aims to determine the feasibility of a broiler business based on Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), R/C, Net B/C. The study was conducted by taking a case in a broiler business with a capacity of 3.000 animals, with 6 maintenance periods per year, which has been undertaken since 2015, located in Taratara I Village, Tomohon Barat District. The results showed that the average cost wasIDR. 91.784.947/period while income was IDR. 99.873.539/period, and profit wasIDR 8.088.592/period. The NPV value was IDR 26.837.471 which had a positive number, an IRR value was 19,03%, and both of R/C  and Net B/C was higher than 1, so that the broiler business can be implemented and developed
PEMANFAATAN ISI RUMEN TERFERMENTASI CELLULOMONAS Sp SEBAGAI CAMPURAN PAKAN KOMPLIT TERNAK KELINCI
UTILIZATION OF FERMENTED RUMENT CONTENT WITH CELLULOMONAS SP IN MIXED COMPLETE FEED FOR RABBIT. Research conducted to learn how to use cattle rumen content by using fermentation processing techniques to enable this rumen to be used as rabbit feed. The material used in this study consisted of cattle rumen contents, starter Cellulomonas sp, rabbits, complete feed. This research consisted of two phase. The first study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design 4 preparations and 6 replications. The fermentation time consists of 0 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours. For the second study using an experimental method with randomized block design  based on the initial body weight of rabbits. The treatment given is the level of use of the best fermented rumen contents in a complete feed ration. Variable which is translated as feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion. Research results The first stage of the P4 study sample (72 hours) as the best guideline is seen from the parameters of crude protein and crude fiber. The results of this study indicate that the use of feed using rumen fermentation (IRF) can increase feed consumption and weight gain. The conclusion of this study is the provision of 30% mixture of fermented rumen contents of Cellulomonas sp in complete feed produced the best results seen from the parameters of consumption, weight gain and feed conversion of rabbit.Keywords: Rumen contents, fermentation, Cellulomonas sp, complete feed, rabbit
EVALUASI NILAI BIOLOGIS PAKAN LENGKAP BERBASIS TEBON JAGUNG DAN RUMPUT CAMPURAN TERHADAP KINERJA PRODUKSI SAPI PERANAKAN ONGOLE (PO)
EVALUATION OF BIOLOGICAL VALUE OF COMPLETE FEED BASED ON CORN COB AND MIXED GRASS ON PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF ONGOLE. This study was aimed to obtain the feed formula, which is effective on the productivity of beef cattle (PO). This study consisted of two experimental stages, namely: 1). In vitro experiment, and 2). Biological (in vivo) experiment. t-test two sample assuming unequal variance was used as the statistical analysis on both experiments. The treatments of this research consisted of RA feed = 50% concentrate + 50% corn forage and RB feed = 50% concentrate + 50% mixed grass, and it was repeated 10 times. In vitro test was used to measure dry matter and organic matter digestibility and NH3 concentration (NH3). The biological experiment (in vivo) was used 20 PO cattles, 12-18 months of ages, with 120 - 180 kg of body weight to measure feed intake, nutrients digestibility DMD, OMD, Protein and energy digestibility, live weight gain (LWG) and feed conversion (FCR). The results showed DMD and OMD in vitro of RA were 67.88% dan 66.06%, respectively, lower than the DMD and OMD obtained in RB, i.e 71.15% dan 69.08%, respectively. Meanwhile, NH3 of RA was higher than RB, i.e: 3.20 vs 2.50 mM/L. The biological experiment showed the DMD, OMD, CPD, and DE (in vivo) of RA were 77.05%, 78.64%, 82.13%, and 83.48%, respectively, while the results obtained at RB were higher, i.e. 80.15%, 83.44%, 85.55%, and 87.46%, respectively. On the liveweight gain (LWG) of PO cattle, the RA ration produces 0.60 kg per head per day, lower than RB which produces 0.65 kg per head per day. The FCR of both ration was 0.11. It is concluded, complete feed based on forage corn and mixed grass can be used as standard feed for fattening of local beef cattle because it is able to give high nutrient digestibility and good feed conversion value Keywords: Complete feed, in vitro and in vivo digestibility, liveweight gain, feed conversio
PENGARUH PEMBERIAN SUMBER SERAT BERBEDA DALAM PAKAN TERHADAP KECERNAAN SEMU SERAT KASAR DAN HEMISELULOSA PADA AYAM PEDAGING STRAIN COBB
THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT FIBER SOURCES IN THE FEED TO DIGESTIBILITY OF CRUDE FIBER AND HEMICELLULOSE IN COBB STRAIN OF BROILERS. This research was carried out with the aim to determine the effect of providing different sources of fiber in feed on the apparent digestibility of crude fiber and hemicellulose in cobb strain of broilers. This study used 20 cobb strain of broilers 35-day-old. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with the treatment of 4 different fiber sources in the feed which was repeated 5 times. The treatments consisted of: R0 (commercial feed),R1 (commercial feed with coffe skin), R2 (commercial feed with rice bran), R3 (commercial feed with coconut pilp). Variables measured were: apparent digestibility of crude fiber and hemicellulose. Apparent-digestibility measurements using the total collection method. Data were analyzed using general linear model (MINITAB version 16), then differences between treatments were tested with Tukey’s simultaneous test. Apparent digestibility of crude fiber feed has a very different (P<0,01) with treatment R2 and R1. The treatment of R2 was not significantly different (P>0,05) from R1. Apparent digestibility test for hemicellulose shows that R3 is the same as R0, but it is significantly different (P<0,01) with treatment R2 and R1. The treatment od R2 was not significantly different (P>0,05) from the treatment of R1. It was concluded that coconut pilp as a source of fiber in the feed of strain cobb of broilers provides better digestibility of coarse and hemicellulose fibers than coffe huks and coffe branKeywords: Apparent digestion of crude fiber, Apparent digestion of hemicellulose, strain cobb of broile
