De la robòtica a la Intel·ligència artificial generativa
Aquest article analitza l'evolució tecnològica des de la Revolució Industrial fins a l'actualitat, fent especial èmfasi en la diferenciació entre robòtica, intel·ligència artificial (IA) i intel·ligència artificial generativa. S'explica com la robòtica, centrada en tasques físiques automatitzades, s'ha complementat amb la IA, capaç de prendre decisions basades en dades, i com la IA generativa suposa un nou salt tecnològic amb la capacitat de crear contingut nou. L'article destaca la importància de no confondre aquests conceptes, alhora que es posa de relleu la seva complementarietat i es pregunta sobre el seu impacte futur en la societat i el treball
Aspectes econòmics i financers del servei d'abastament urbà d'aigua
En la seva configuració actual, el servei d’abastament d’aigua te el seu origen en l’Estatuto Municipal promulgat l’any 1924. En relació a l’aigua, establia la competència municipal en abastament d’aigua -que era declarada servei públic-, aigües residuals, safareigs, abeuradors i serveis anàlegs. Així es van configurar els aspectes urbanístics que van permetre la generalització de l’abastament domiciliari de l’aigua i la regulació dels seus aspectes econòmics i financers. L’economia de l’abastament d’aigua ha estat molt protegida. En la seva qualitat de servei d’higiene urbana fins fa ben poc s’ha estimulat el consum d’aigua amb polítiques d’oferta i abundants ajuts públics. Així s’ha observat que tot i tenir un valor molt superior al seu cost, el preu al que s’ha subministrat ha estat inferior al cost. Avui tenim la consciència de que l’aigua és un recurs escàs i vivim la situació com una contradicció. El funcionament d’una societat moderna requereix la garantia dels subministraments essencials com ho són l’aigua i l’energia, que és un component d’importància creixent en el cost de l’aigua. La necessitat d’un ajust econòmic d’aquest servei afecta també a l’estructura de costos i ingressos, amb importants asimetries entre els fixes i els variables, que ens han dut a la paradoxa de l’estalvi, és a dir a la inevitable conseqüència de que el resultat d’estalviar aigua és que s’han d’augmentar les tarifes per equilibrar l’economia del servei. En conseqüència cal un replantejament de l’estructura tarifària del servei que garanteixi aquest equilibri i millori la comprensibilitat de la factura per als usuaris. Altres aspectes regulatoris a revisar afecten a la corresponsabilització dels concessionaris en les polítiques de reducció de pèrdues d’aigua del servei, l’encaix econòmic de les polítiques de protecció social que garanteixin el dret d’accés universal a l’aigua o l’adopció de sistemes tarifaris equitatius per a municipis turístics. Review on Developing Critical Thinking, Empathy, Self-awareness, and Emotional Self-Regulation on Smartphones
Future business leaders must possess digital competence and soft skills like critical thinking, assertiveness, and emotional self-regulation. Traditional training methods lack flexibility, hindering adaptability. Smartphones are ubiquitous, personable, and provide digital equality among m-learning platforms, playing a crucial role in education. The global learning mobile app market (online courses, languages, academic disciplines, etc.) is forecasted to grow at a compounded growth rate of over 20% until 2030. However, it remains unclear if user-generated interactions in mobile apps can develop soft leadership skills. This article reviews studies on mobile apps as an adult learner-driven, flexible, universal, and fast alternative to traditional training methods for leadership skills such as critical thinking, self-awareness, empathy, and emotional self-regulation. Four databases were searched using subheadings and terms related to mobile learning, education, and soft skills. The included studies were mapped according to the types of mobile learning platforms, adult subjects, specific 21st-century leadership skills, and outcomes. The search was limited to articles published between 2014 and 2024. The main findings indicate that while there is extensive research on m-learning platforms for PK-12 education, there is a significant lack of primary data on the use of mobile apps for developing leadership skills in adults. The few existing studies primarily evaluate critical thinking as a crucial business skill. These results reveal a notable gap between scientific research and market practices in the context of mobile learning for adult leadership skills

Study on the Mechanical Characteristics of Concrete Pavement Corner Detachment and Grouting Rein forcement Using the FEMDEM Coupling Approach
Cement concrete pavements have significant advantages in the construction of transportation infrastructure. However, the disease of slab bottom voids affects their performance and service life. In this study, the Finite Element Method-Discrete Element Method (FEM-DEM) coupling method was used to deeply explore the mechanical characteristics of concrete pavement corner voids and grouting reinforcement. First, a discrete element model for corner voids was constructed, and uniaxial compression simulations were carried out to calibrate the mesoscopic parameters of the concrete surface layer and the base course. Subsequently, an FEM-DEM coupling model was established to simulate the mechanical responses of the pavement slab under different working conditions. The research found that when there is a corner void, the cracking load is 75 kN, and the peak load is 96.8 kN. After exceeding the peak load, the cracks expand rapidly. When the strain reaches 0.2, the crack growth slows down. The displacement expands in a triangular shape, and the failure mode is shear failure. After grouting reinforcement, the peak strength increases by 53% to 150 kN, the cracking pressure is 75 kN, the cracks expand rapidly first and then stabilize, and the failure form is rectangular. In addition, the load transfer, crack distribution, force chain distribution, etc., show different laws in the void and reinforced states. The FEMDEM model overcomes traditional numerical limits, precisely simulating structure-void interactions and reinforcing mechanics. HDAug: Optimizing Medical Image Segmentation through Hyperparameter-Driven Brightness and Contrast Augmentation for Deep Learning Models
Traditional data augmentation methods, which employ static hyperparameters, often lead to model overfitting. To address this limitation, a novel hyperparameter-driven data augmentation approach (HDAug) is introduced in this study. Training images that simulate a plethora of lighting and exposure conditions are synthesized by HDAug through the stochastic sampling of augmentation hyperparameters, within predefined ranges. Additionally, HDAug does not rely on prior knowledge of specific datasets, endowing it with superior generalization capabilities. The Dice coefficient was utilized as the primary evaluation metric. Experimental results demonstrate that HDAug achieves significant performance improvements in two challenging cross-modality medical image segmentation datasets, with average Dice coefficients of 86.77%, 88.08%, and 84.11%, respectively. The superiority of HDAug lies in its ability to substantially enhance model robustness across diverse imaging conditions while circumventing the overfitting issues inherent in conventional methods. Approximate Solutions for Fractional Gas Dynamics and Convection-Diffusion Equations via the Temimi-Ansari Method
In this paper, a new analytical iterative method is used to obtain the fractional analytical solutions of the nonlinear gas dynamics and convectiondiffusion equations. The paper’s novelty appears in its specific application of the Caputo fractional operator to conventional equations while achieving highly accurate solutions. Numerical outcomes for various cases of the equations are represented via tables and graphs. The convergence analysis for the present approach was completed. The methodology is very capable of reducing the size of the analytical steps and is convenient and efficient for solving nonlinear fractional equations.
