Predicting the incidence of brucellosis in Western Iran using Markov switching model
Objective: Brucellosis is a zoonosis almost chronic disease. Brucellosis bacteria can remain in the environment for
a long time. Thus, climate irregularities could pave the way for the survival of the bacterium brucellosis. Brucellosis
is more common in men 25 to 29 years of age, in the western provinces, and in the spring months. The aim of this
study is to investigate the efect of climatic factors as well as predicting the incidence of brucellosis in Qazvin prov‑
ince using the Markov switching model (MSM). This study is a secondary study of data collected from 2010 to 2019 in
Qazvin province. The data include brucellosis cases and climatic parameters. Two state MSM with time lags of 0, 1 and
2 was ftted to the data. The Bayesian information criterion (BIC) was used to evaluate the models.
Results: According to the BIC, the two‑state MSM with a 1‑month lag is a suitable model. The month, the average‑
wind‑speed, the minimum‑temperature have a positive efect on the number of brucellosis, the age and rainfall have
a negative efect. The results show that the probability of an outbreak for the third month of 2019 is 0.30%
Current Global Status and the Epidemiology of Entamoeba gingivalis in Humans: A Systematic Review and Meta‑analysis
Abstract
Purpose : Entamoeba gingivalis (E. gingivalis) is one of the members of the wide range of oral resident pathogens in humans, particularly found in dental plaques, surfaces of gingiva or teeth, interdental spaces and carious lesions. The purpose of the current review and meta-analysis was to determine the global prevalence of E. gingivalis infection and its association with oral diseases based on published literatures.
Materials and Methods : Multiple English databases (PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Science and Google Scholar) were explored for papers published until August 2020. A total of 52 studies (including 7596 participants) met the inclusion criteria.
Results: The overall prevalence of E. gingivalis was estimated to be 37% (95% CI 29–46%). With regard to different countries, the highest and lowest pooled prevalence of E. gingivalis infection were related to Jordan with 87% (95% CI 81–92%) and Portugal with 3% (95% CI 0–10%), respectively. Based on WHO regions, the highest prevalence was related to the region of the Americas with 56% (95% CI 31–79%). The infection was most prevalent in 46–55 mean age groups [61% (95% CI 21–94%)]. Among different diagnostic methods, the highest rate of the pooled prevalence was related to the molecular [53% (95% CI 24–81%)] and the direct methods [36% (95% CI 25–47%)], respectively. Our analyses revealed that E. gingivalis infection was associated with 4.34-fold increased risk of oral diseases (P < 0.05).
Conclusion: Our findings revealed a high prevalence rate of the infection among periodontal disease patients with 37% (95%CI 20–57%). To conclude, it must be considered that E. gingivalis can be a risk factor associated with oral diseases and a wide range of research is needed to specify its role in the pathogenesis of these disorders.

Immunoinformatic Analysis of Calcium-Dependent Protein Kinase 7 (CDPK7) Showed Potential Targets for Toxoplasma gondii Vaccine
ABSTRACT
Apicomplexan parasites, including Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), express different types of calcium-dependent protein kinases
(CDPKs), which perform a variety of functions, including attacking and exiting the host cells. In the current bioinformatics study, we have used several web servers to predict the basic features and specifications of the CDPK7 protein. The findings showed that CDPK7 protein has 2133 amino acid residues with an average molecular weight (MW) of 219085.79 D. The aliphatic index with 68.78 and grand average of hydropathicity (GRAVY) with -0.331 score were estimated. The outcomes of current research showed that the CDPK7 protein included 502 alpha-helix, 1311 random coils, and 320 extended strands with GOR4 method. Considering the Ramachandran plot, the favored region contains more than 92% of the amino acid residues. In addition, evaluation of antigenicity and allergenicity showed that CDPK7 protein has immunogenic and nonallergenic nature. The present research provides key data for more animal-model study on the CDPK7 protein to design an efficient vaccine against toxoplasmosis in the future
Positive environmental effects of the coronavirus 2020 episode: a review
The outbreak of COVID-19 has made a global catastrophic situation that caused 1,039,406 deaths out of 35,347,404 infections, and it will also cause significant socio-economic losses with poverty increasing from 17.1 to 25.9%. Although the spreading rate of COVID-19 is very high on October 6, 2020, the death rate is still less than 2.94%. Nonetheless, this review article shows that the lockdown has induced numerous positive impacts on the environment and on energy consumption. For instance, the lockdown has decreased the electricity demand by 30% in Italy, India, Germany, and the USA, and by 12-20% in France, Germany, Spain, India, and the UK. Additionally, the expenditure of the fuel supply has been decreased by 4% in 2020 as compared to the previous years (2012-2019). In particular, The global demand for coal fuel has been reduced by 8% in March and April 2020 as compared to the same time in 2019. In terms of harmful emissions, the lockdowns reduced the emissions of nitrous oxides by 20-30% in China, Italy, France, Spain, and by 77.3% in São Paulo, Brazil. Similarly, the particulate matter level has been reduced from 5-15% in Western Europe, to 200% in New Delhi, India, which in turn has enhanced the air quality in a never-seen manner in recent times. In some places, such as New York, USA, CO2 emission was also reduced by 5-10%. The water quality, in several polluted areas, has also been remarkably enhanced, for example, the dissolved oxygen content in the Ganga River, India, has increased by about 80%. Traffic congestion has also been reduced worldwide, and in some areas, it has been reduced by 50%, such as New York and Los Angeles, USA. Overall, while the COVID-19 pandemic has shrinked the global economy by 13-32%, the pandemic has also clearly benefited to other sectors, which must be considered as the spotlight for the permanent revival of the global ecosystem.

Comparing Fear of COVID-19 and Preventive COVID-19 Infection Behaviors Between Iranian and Taiwanese Older People: Early Reaction May Be a Key
This study assessed fear of the novel coronavirus-2019 (COVID-19), preventive
COVID-19 infection behaviors, and the association between fear of COVID-19 and
preventive COVID-19 infection behaviors among older people in Iran and Taiwan. Older
people aged over 60 years (n = 144 for Iranians and 139 for Taiwanese) completed the
Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) and two items on preventive COVID-19 infection
behaviors (i.e., hand washing and mouth covering when sneezing). Iranian older
people had a significantly higher level of fear of COVID-19 than did Taiwanese older
people. Moreover, Iranian older people had significantly lower frequencies of preventive
COVID-19 infection behaviors than did Taiwanese older people. Different timings in
implementing COVID-19 infection control policies in Iran and Taiwan may explain why
Iranian older people had greater fear of COVID-19 and lower preventive COVID-19
infection behaviors than did Taiwanese older people
