Ivermectin-Induced Clinical Improvement and Alleviation of Significant Symptoms of COVID-19 Outpatients: A Cross-Sectional Study
Although several drugs have been proposed and used to treat the COVID-19 virus, but recent clinical trials have concentrated on ivermectin. It appears that ivermectin can potentially act against COVID-19 and stop the development in its
infancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ivermectin on the recovery of outpatients with COVID-19.
In this cross-sectional study, we compared the symptoms reduction in COVID-19 disease in two groups of patients by
administering ivermectin. A total of 347 mild outpatients in the Iranian provinces of Qazvin and Khuzestan with a
conrmed PCR were enrolled. The symptoms of outpatients with COVID-19 were analyzed using SPSS (V23). In this
cross-sectional study, the sex ratio was 0.64 (female/male: 37.9/59.8) and most patients were under 50 years old (72.8%).
The results of this study demonstrated a signicant decrease in several COVID-19 disease symptoms, including fever,
chills, dyspnea, headache, cough, fatigue, and myalgia in the group administered ivermectin compared to the control group.
In addition, the odds ratio of the above symptoms was signicantly lower in patients who received ivermectin than in
patients who did not receive the drug (OR = 0.16, 95% CI = 0.09, 0.27).

COVID‑19 associated rhino‑orbito‑cerebral mucormycosis, risk factors and outcome predictors; a multicentric study
Background Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic,
an increase in mucormycosis cases has been
observed in many countries, including Iran. However,
the role of covid-19 and associated risk factors have
not been thoroughly investigated.
Objective This study is designed to identify epidemiologic
characteristics, risk factors, and outcome predictors of Covid-19-Associated Rhino-Orbito-Cerebral
Mucormycosis (C-ROCM).
Methods Data of pathology proven Covid Associated
ROCM cases were retrospectively obtained from
7 tertiary care centers throughout Iran from February
20, 2021, to July 22, 2021. Univariate and multivariate
analyses were performed using binary logistic
regression to assess the effects of various factors on
the outcome.
Results A total of 132 patients with C-ROCM were
included in the study. The mean age of patients was
61.6 ± 13.9 (60.6% male). In 12 patients (9.1%),
both eyes were involved. Diabetes was the mostcommon comorbidity (94.7%). The mortality rate was
9.1%, higher in males (12.5%) than females (3.8%).
Severe vision impairment was seen in 58 patients
(43.9%). Main factors that had a negative impact on
the outcome in the univariate analysis include older
age (P < 0.001), higher steroid dosage (P < 0.001),
higher HbA1c level (P < 0.001), Covid-19 severity
(P < 0.001), and brain involvement (P < 0.001). However,
in the multivariate analysis, the effects of age
(P = 0.062), steroid dosage (P = 0.226), and Covid-
19 intensity (P = 0.084) decreased, and the difference
was no longer statistically significant. CRAO
was a predictor of mortality in the univariate analysis
(P = 0.008, OR = 4.50), but in the multivariate analysis,
this effect decreased and was no longer significant
(P = 0.125).
Conclusion The risk of C-ROCM and its complications
may increase in patients with more severe
Covid-19, steroid over-prescription, ICU admission
due to Covid-19, and poor glycemic control during
and after Covid-19 treatment

Attitude of parents towards oral health and dental treatment of their children during the COVID-19 pandemic
Objective: Increased rate of dental caries among children necessitate regular pediatric dental treatments; however,
the COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges for dental visits of children, compromising their oral
health. To assess the attitude of parents towards oral health and dental treatment of their children during the
COVID-19 pandemic. Material and Methods: 232 eligible parents presenting to the Pediatric Dentistry Department
of Qazvin Dental School during March and April 2021 seeking dental care for their children were requested to
fill out a questionnaire included data regarding demographic information, child’s dental history, attitude about
the COVID-19 and risk of dental treatments. Data were analyzed using independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and
Pearson’s correlation coefficient (alpha=0.05). Results: One-third of the parents reported that fear of contraction
of COVID-19 was the reason for not seeking dental care during the pandemic. The majority of the parents
stated no change in oral hygiene behavior or consumption of sugary foods during the pandemic. Cancellation
of previous dental appointments (P=0.038) and unwillingness to seek dental care at present (P=0.015) were
significantly correlated with the susceptibility score. The susceptibility score of the parents was also correlated
with their psychological status (P=0.016). A significant correlation was noted between the susceptibility score
and attitude as well (r=0.287, P<0.001). Conclusion: High level of concern regarding the COVID-19 prevents
parents from seeking dental care for their children. It is imperative to take measures to reassure the parents
regarding the safety of dental care for their children during the pandemic to ensure continuation of dental care
