Comparing the Postoperative Sore Throat Incidence and Hemodynamic Changes after Using Macintosh and GlideScope Laryngoscopes and Laryngeal Mask Airway
Background Studies have shown that postoperative sore throat (POST) is the most common complication
of tracheal intubation; however, its actual incidence and extent are not well documented.
Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the incidence of POST and hemodynamic
changes after using macintosh laryngoscope (MCL), glidescope laryngoscope (GSL), and laryngeal mask
airway (LMA) for elective surgery.
Methods This randomized double-blind clinical trial was conducted on 90 patients undergoing elective
surgery in Shahid Rajaee Hospital in Qazvin, Iran. Patients were randomly divided into three groups
based on the used intubation techniques including MCL, GSL, and LMA. The incidence of POST, hemodynamic
changes, laryngoscopy duration, intubation duration, and number of attempts were compared in
three groups and analyzed by ANOVA, independent t-test and chi-square.
Findings POST incidence was significantly higher in the MCL group compared to other two groups
(P<0.05). Duration of laryngoscopy was significantly longer in the MCL group compared to the GSL group
(8.2±2.4 vs. 6.8±1.7; P=0.02). Regarding hemodynamic variables, only heart rate in the LMA group 3
minutes after intervention was significantly lower compared to other two groups (P=0.02).
Conclusion POST incidence was higher after using GSL and hemodynamic changes were less by using
LMA. The preferred method for older people or cardiovascular patients is LMA. Further studies are needed
to confirm these results
TheEffectofUsingOliveOilandFishOilProphylactic Dressings on Heel Pressure Injury Development in Critically Ill Patients
Introduction and Aim: Prevention of pressure injuries in patients hospitalized in intensive care units is significantly important. Therefore, in the present study, the effect of using olive oil and fish oil prophylactic dressings on the development of heel pressure injuries was investigated. Methods: The present study was a clinical trial conducted in the intensive care unit of Shahid Beheshti Hospital, in Yasuj. Fifty patients, who were at moderate to high risk of pressure injuries development, were randomly divided into two groups based on the mean score of the Braden scale. In one group, patients’ heels were dressed using olive oil prophylactic dressing, and in the other group, patients’ heels were dressed using fish oil prophylactic dressing. The dressings were changed 3 times a day. Collected data were then analyzed using SPSS v16. Results: No significant difference was determined in demographic variables among the two groups (p<0.05). In terms of the development of heel pressure injuries, none of the patients in the olive oil and fish oil groups had pressure injuries. Conclusion: Therewerenostatisticallysignificantdifferencesineithertreatmentgrouprelated to heel pressure injuries outcomes during the 7 days observed in the study. Additionally, both dressings had the same effects. Further studies are recommended in this regard

Effect of Perineal Massage with Ostrich Oil on the Episiotomy and Lacerations in Nulliparous Women: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
Background: Perineal lacerations resulting from vaginal delivery may cause short and long
complications, which lead to some problems in women after the delivery. Ostrich oil is safe for use in
skincare and beauty products. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of perineal massage with
Ostrich oil on the episiotomy and lacerations in nulliparous women. Materials and Methods: This
single‑blind randomized controlled trial was conducted on 77 nulliparous women referred to Razi
Hospital in Qazvin (Iran) from May to December 2018. After screening of potential participants,
80 out of 105 pregnant women were selected by convenience sampling and were assigned into
the intervention and control groups by block randomization technique. In the intervention group,
participants received a perineal massage with Ostrich oil in the active phase and the second stage of
labor. The rates of episiotomy and perineal laceration were compared between the two groups. Data
were analyzed using Chi-square, t-test and Mann-Whitney. Results: Perineal massage with Ostrich
oil in the intervention group significantly decreased the rate of episiotomy compared to the control
group (2 = 18.32, df = 1, p < 0.001). However, there was no statistically significant difference in
perineal lacerations between the two groups. Conclusions: The results revealed that perineal massage
with Ostrich oil could be recommended as an effective, safe, and inexpensive method to improve the
rate of episiotomy in vaginal delivery. Perineal massage can be performed by midwives in the first
and second stages of labor

Evaluation of the Selfitis Behavior Scale Across Two Persian-Speaking Countries, Iran and Afghanistan: Advanced Psychometric Testing in a Large-Scale Sample
Selfitis—which started off as a hoax but has now been investigated empirically—has been
defined as the obsessive–compulsive desire to take photos of oneself and post them on social
media. Furthermore, a scale to assess selfitis, the Selfitis Behavior Scale (SBS), has been
developed. This study applied advanced psychometric testing methods, including confirmatory
factor analysis (utilizing classical test theory) and the Rasch model (utilizing modern test
theory), to examine the psychometric properties among Persian speakers (in Iran and
Afghanistan). The participants (3163 Iranians and 1100 Afghanistani) completed an online
survey posted on Instagram pages. The SBS showed promising properties, including
satisfactory reliability (e.g., internal consistency and test–retest reliability), excellent construct
validity (e.g., good fit in the CFA and Rasch models), and acceptable measurement invariance
across Iranian and Afghan samples. Consequently, the SBS is a valid and reliable instrument
for assessing selfitis among Persian-speaking samples
Delayed Pneumomediastinum and Subcutaneous Emphysema in Covid-19 Patients: Two Case Reports
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a severe respiratory disease initiated on December 2019. Genome
sequence analysis shows that the pathogen is a complex beta-coronavirus RNA, known as Severe
Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Spontaneous Pneumomediastinum and
pneumothorax are rare clinical and radiological conditions associated with COVID-19. This study is case
report of pneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema in two patients with COVID-19, while
investigating the clinical and paraclinical symptoms and the treatment process of two cases. Finding
factors related to the severity of COVID-19 for improving the final outcome in patients is very important
