The Association of Sleep Quality with Dietary Intake and Rate of General and Central Obesity among Young Female Students in Qazvin City, Iran
Background: Insufficient sleep duration and unhealthy diet are associated with
weight gain. However, little is known about the association of sleep quality
with dietary intake and obesity. The aim of the present study was to compare
dietary intake and anthropometric indices between good and poor sleepers.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 260 females youth aged 18-30
years were recruited among the students of Qazvin University of Medical
Sciences. The evaluated variables consisted of sleep quality, dietary intake, and
anthropometric indices. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version
21.0. Results: Participants in the poor quality sleep group had higher intakes of
calorie (P < 0.001) and carbohydrate (P < 0.001), and lower protein intake
(P < 0.01) in comparison with good sleepers. Regarding food groups, poor
sleepers had higher intake of bread-grains (P = 0.02) group, but lower intake of
meat-alternatives (P < 0.001), vegetables (P < 0.001), and fruits (P < 0.001) in
comparison with the good sleepers. Participants in the poor quality sleep group
had higher weight (P < 0.001), body mass index (P < 0.001), waist
circumference (P < 0.001), and fat mass (P < 0.001) in comparison with good
sleepers. Conclusion: Our findings emphasize the relationship of poor quality
sleep with unhealthy dietary intake and obesity in young female women

Optimization of the Forward Osmosis Process Using Aquaporin Membranes in Chromium Removal
Due to the lack of affordable and feasible wastewater treatment technologies, various industries in developing countries are discharging chromium (Cr) without meeting the environmental standards. Here, the aim was to employ forward osmosis (FO) using aquaporins (AQP)‐based biomimetic membranes and optimize the Cr rejection through response surface methodology (RSM). The initial concentration of draw solution, feed solution, and time was selected as independent variables in order to optimize Cr rejection and water flux. A high Cr rejection efficiency and water flux were achieved under the optimal conditions. These results revealed that the FO process applying an AQP membrane beside the RSM could be considered to treat wastewaters containing heavy metals
The Role of Pre-hospital and Hospital Emergency Staff in Time Management of Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Review.
According to the latest guidelines, in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) cases, the best
intervention to restore blood flow in the occluded coronary arteries is angioplasty at a time less than 90
minutes. Delay in timely implementation of reperfusion is one of the key problems in the management
of STEMI. In this review study, the aim is to investigate the role of pre-hospital and hospital emergency
staff in time management of STEMI. For this purpose, the articles published 1999-2019 with available
full texts in ProQuest, SID, Science Direct, Google Scholar and Scopus databases were searched using
the keywords: Pre-hospital Emergency, Hospital Emergency, Primary Angioplasty, Time Management,
Ischemia, and Acute Myocardial Infarction. A total of 59 articles in Persian and English (from 10 different
countries) covering both qualitative and quantitative studies were initially yielded. Those which were
not a review paper and their full texts were unavailable were excluded from the review. Faster reperfusion
reduces the cardiac necrosis area, resulting in reduced morbidity and mortality. Early ECG recording
by the pre-hospital emergency team followed by the activation of the code STEMI by the emergency
team can increase the speed of diagnosis, decision making, and transfer of the STEMI patient to receive
the best treatment
Expression and Methylation Pattern of hsa-miR-34 Family in Sperm Samples of Infertile Men
Production of high-quality spermatozoa is necessary for male fertility. In this regard, post-mitotic stage in spermatogenesis is very
important which posttranscriptional microRNAs (miRNAs) playing a key role at this stage. In this research, we evaluated the
expression and methylation of hsa-miR-34 family in sperm samples of infertile men. We recruited 102 infertile men (asthenozoospermia, teratozoospermia, asthenoteratozoospermia, and oligoasthenoteratozoospermia) and 52 fertile men as control. The
expression of hsa-miR-34a,b,c was determined by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) technique. Methylation of hsa-miR34b,c promoter was evaluated by methylation-specific PCR (MS-PCR) method. Our data indicated under-expression of three
miRNAs (hsa-miR-34a,b,c) in the sperm samples of infertile men in compared to their fertile counterparts. The highest rate of
expression reduction was observed in hsa-miR-34c-5p and in oligoasthenoteratospermic patients (P = 0.011, F = 4.01). The
results revealed that the frequency of methylation of the promoter region of hsa-miR-34b,c in infertile men was higher than that
of fertile men (82.4% versus 23.3%), and the highest frequency of methylation was observed in patients with
asthenoteratospermia (92.9%) and oligoasthenoteratospermia (93.8%). In conclusion, our results indicated lower expression of
hsa-miR-34a,b,c and hypermethylation of hsa-miR-34b,c promoter in sperm samples of infertile men. Aberrant under-expression
of these miRNAs could be duo to the hypermethylation of the promoter region and indicative of a defect in spermatogenesis
Urtica Dioica Root Extract on Clinical and Biochemical Parameters in Patients with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, Randomized Controlled Trial
Background and Objectives: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a common urological disorder as men get older. BPH can cause
uncomfortable urinary tract symptoms. Given the high incidence of the disease, further research is an undeniable necessity for its better
management. In this research, the efficacy of Urtica Dioica root extract (UDE) on clinical and biochemical parameters were evaluated in
this type of patients. Materials and Methods: Participants were 60 men with BPH that randomly allocated to two equal groups
(Intervention = 30 and Comparison = 30). Block balanced Randomization method was performed using a computer by a trained nurse.
Intervention and comparison groups received 450 mg dayG1
UDE and placebo as tablets for 12 weeks, respectively. The main
outcome was changes in International Prostate Symptoms Score (IPSS) from baseline to end of treatment. Data were collected by
completing a standard questionnaire and performing relevant tests based on common laboratory methods. Results: UDE had an
intermediate effect on IPSS, a small effect on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), intermediate to large effect on
malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and intermediate effect on superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity. The magnitude of the effects of UDE on
other parameters was overall negligible compared to the comparison and not significant. No side effects were seen in these patients
following tablet usage. Conclusion: UDE consumption for 12 weeks among BPH patients had clinically significant effects on IPSS, serum
hs-CRP, MDA and SOD activity

The effect of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing on the fear of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetic patients: a randomized clinical trial
Background: The fear of hypoglycemia leads to psychological symptoms in patients with diabetes type 2. In this research, the effects of EDMR on the fear of hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes type 2 were examined.
Methods: A clinical trial study was carried out with participation of 72 patients who had diabetes type 2 in Velayat Hospital. The participants were randomly assigned into control and intervention groups. The intervention group received EMDR. The required information was gleaned using a questionnaire of fear of hypoglycemia, intensity of hypoglycemia, and demographics filled out before the intervention, and 1 month and 3 months after it. The data
were analyzed using descriptive statistics on SPSS Version 23. For comparison of fear of hypoglycemia in intervention and control groups, repeated measure ANOVA and Cohen d test were used.
Results: The mean age of the participants in the intervention group was 43.17 ± 10.55 and in the control group was 45.86 ± 13.6. In this study, without considering the potential disruptors in the incorrect model, the intervention caused a reduction of 15 points 1 month after the completion of the intervention and a reduction of 17 points 3 month after the completion of the intervention on the scale of fear of hypoglycemia; but post-correction of
potential disruptors, intervention caused a reduction of 19.5 scores 1 month after the completion and a reduction
of 20.3 scores 3 months after the intervention .
Conclusions: The EMDR can be used as a non-pharmaceutical treatment method to treat and alleviate the fear of
hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes patients
