    No full text
The indicator (key figure) presented here is part of the Diabetes Surveillance indicator set (research project at the Robert Koch Institute 2015 – 2024) with a total of 40 defined indicators or indicator groups. In addition to the indicator results, the methodological approach and the data source are described and the data are provided in aggregated form. All indicators are categorised into four fields of action: (1) Reducing the risk of diabetes, (2) Improving the early detection and treatment of diabetes, (3) Reducing the complications of diabetes, and (4) Reducing the burden and costs of disease. There are indicators for children and adolescents as well as for adults. The results of the Diabetes Surveillance at the end of the project in 2024 are published on the publication server of the Robert Koch Institute (https://edoc.rki.de/handle/176904/12467). In future, some diabetes indicators will be regularly updated with new data as part of the extended surveillance of non-communicable diseases at http://www.gbe.rki.de

    No full text
Decision and scientific justification for expanding the STIKO recommendation on indicated vaccination and post-exposure chemoprophylaxis against Haemophilus influenzae type b Since 1990, the STIKO has recommended vaccination against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) with a conjugate vaccine for infants and young children under the age of 5 years. For children aged 5 years and over, Hib vaccination is only indicated in exceptional cases. Due to an acute Hib outbreak among adults in northern Germany, the STIKO has re-evaluated and adjusted its recommendations on indicated vaccination and post-exposure chemoprophylaxis.Peer Reviewe

Investigation of a possible spatial-temporal cluster of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease by the National Reference Center for CJD Surveillance and the Public Health Services Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is by far the most common human prion disease. Although the incidence of sporadic CJD cases recorded in Germany by the NRZ-TSE has remained stable over the years at approximately 2 per 1 million inhabitants per year, spatial-temporal sporadic CJD clusters have been observed in the past, and their relevance and statistical significance could not be clearly determined. The article describes the detection and investigation of such an unusual cluster in three districts of the greater Stuttgart area at the beginning of 2025
