The Cornell NanoScale Science & Technology Facility (CNF) is a national user facility that supports a broad range of nanoscale science and technology projects by providing state-of-the-art resources coupled with expert staff support. 2007 marks our 30th year in operation. Research at CNF encompasses physical sciences, engineering, and life sciences, and has a strong inter-disciplinary emphasis. Over 700 users per year (50% of whom come from outside Cornell) use the fabrication, synthesis, computation, characterization, and integration resources of CNF to build structures, devices, and systems from atomic to complex length-scales

6.002 Circuits and Electronics is designed to serve as a first course in an undergraduate electrical engineering (EE), or electrical engineering and computer science (EECS) curriculum. 6.002 is in the core of department subjects required for all undergraduates in EECS. The Snap-O-Lantern is a robotic mini-pumpkin. Normally, it just sits there, in disguise as a boring old pumpkin. But, every twenty seconds he comes to life. His LED eyes turn on, his jaw slowly opens, and then SNAPS shut-- and he goes back into stealth mode.What's inside? A small hobby servo motor, driven by an AVR microcontroller. This is a minimal microcontroller project, and is very straightforward if you happen to already have a setup for programming one. We'll walk through the carving, setup, programming, and electronics. This module is the third in the Fire Ecology and Management Series. The module is designed for courses that support natural resource disciplines such as Forestry, Wildlife and Environmental Science. Although the module can be taught independently, faculty should consider teaching as part of the series. Specifically, the modules The Ecological Role of Fire and Historical Fire Regimes and their Application to Forest Management are designed to prepare students for the activities in this Anatomy of a Wildfire â B&B Complex Fire module. In this lecture-based module the B&B Complex Fire in central Oregon is examined as a case study to introduce the basics of wildfire behavior in the context of historical fire regimes.
