The goal of this study was to determine the efficacy of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) initiative by determining whether participants' food selection behavior has changed since calorie information has been listed on restaurant menus, as well as to look into the relationships between calorie information on restaurant menus, body weight, and weight perception in Saudi Arabian women. To carry out a quasi-experimental design, this study used a convenience sample of 333 undergraduate female students with an average age of 20.38±1.77 years. The control group (non-calorie listed menu169, 50.7 %) and the experimental group (calorie listed menu169, 50.7 %) were divided into two groups based on the type of menu used (calorie listed menu164, 49.3 % ). When compared to the control group's mean calorie intake, the experimental group's mean calorie consumption reduced by 59 calories, showing a significant difference between the two groups. The presence of calories impacts a greater number of people in the experimental group (64.6%), who have a significantly higher mean weight concern (7.94±3.13) and mean behavioral intention (11.82±4.65) than the control group. Participants in the experimental group who were classed as obese or overweight had the highest level of weight perception and concern, despite significant changes in calorie consumption.  In adults, calorie counting has a considerable influence on calorie reduction and weight maintenance. This effort is a useful, low-cost, and easy-to-understand tool, as well as a great place to start for people and communities interested in obesity prevention and reduction

Biodegradation of Some Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons by a Bacterial Consortium Isolated from the Red Sea of Jeddah

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are considered organic pollutants, which are stable, highly toxic, and carcinogenic. Therefore, it was necessary to find an environmentally friendly way to degrade these compounds and remove them from polluted environments. Water samples polluted with petroleum hydrocarbons were collected from the coast of Jeddah on the Red Sea - Saudi Arabia. The results of the current study showed the ability of bacterial consortium that was enriched from the coast of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to degrade petroleum hydrocarbons wastewater, which proved its ability to degrade PAHs in saline conditions. The bacterial union degraded BENZ compound by more than 95% at the concentration of 100 and 250 mg/L, while the degradation of this compound at the concentration of 1000 mg/L was recorded about 83% while the ANT degradation rate was recorded at more than 90% at different concentrations. In addition, this study revealed the ability of bacterial consortium to treat petroleum hydrocarbons wastewater in bioreactor (CSTR) with 92.7% of COD removed under saline conditions. Hence, this study recommends the investment of bacterial consortium in the treatment of petroleum hydrocarbons wastewater in marine environments and to remove pollutants from them

Forensic linguistics is used to clarify a legal process, including the Religious Courts system. The Religious Courts are legal institutions in Indonesia and meet the criteria in the focus of forensic linguistics because they have a court process involving the use of specific languages (language in legal context). The research was conducted at the Watansoppeng and Pekanbaru Religious Courts with three different trials. The primary data of this research is the transcription of the trial speech. Olsson's (2008) forensic linguistic statement analysis concept is the primary tool used to observe the legal discourse of the Religious Courts. The use of narrative statements was analyzed with the theory of narrative statement analysis, which was divided into five categories (time, place, sequence, description, & other words). The panel of judges, petitioners, and witnesses in the trial of the Religious Courts tend to use the technique of using certain narrative statements. Culturally, narrative reports are used to exert influence in the trial process. These narrative statements have cultural aspects, both produced by the Panel of Judges and the trial participants. These cultural aspects are cultural evidence, cultural information, and cultural considerations. The percentage of cultural factors involved is 3.7% cultural evidence, 37% cultural information, and 59.3% cultural considerations. This research shows that the Religious Courts tend to use judgment in the case settlement process. Thus, forensic linguistics is not only used for advocacy purposes but also restoration purposes. Based on the results of forensic linguistic analysis in the legal context of the Religious Courts, a generalization can be obtained that cases that have legal implications can be prevented by providing an understanding to the public regarding the use of language and the resolution of cases involving cultural aspects
