Development and Validation of Prediction Model for 02 and CO2 Concentration of Fresh Vegetables under Modified Atmosphere Packaging
A mathematical model was developed to predic O2 and CO2 gaseous concentration for fresh vegetables under modified atmosphere packaging Mathematical models were developed by assump that the slides basin packing it permaeble and the bottom package is imperable.Verification of the model were done by using the experimental data of read chilli, carrot and tomato, the models were generally significant enough to predict the gaseous condition of inside package for fresh vegetables products under MAP.Key words : MAP, prediction models, shelf life, permabilitas, laju respirasi
Groundwater Level Control with a Simple Fuzzy Control System
This paper proposes a method for controlling groundwater level in order to maintain a certain desired height by using a simple fuzzy control system. The control signal is determined by evaluating the state of water surface height deviatioh from the desired height on a 4 quadrant phase plane. The control signal is then used to determine the number of drainage or irrigation pumps, which must be operated. Simulation using actual datafrom the jield shows that the proposed method is very effective to maintain the desired height of water surface. This method is very simple, therefore it can be easily implemented using a personal computer or a microcontrol/er, or up-loaded to a P LC (Programmable Logic Controller)
Rice fields are considered to be among the highest sources of atmospheric methane, an important source of global warming. In order to meet the projected rice needs of the increasing world population, it is estimated that the annual world\u27s rough rice production must increase to 760 million tons (a 65% increase) in the next 30 years. This will increase methane emissions from rice fields if current technologies are kept (Minami and Neue, 1993). Indonesia, a country of which rice is one of its staple foods, produces 43.2 M tons of rice per year (Indonesia\u27s Central Bureau of Statistics, 1992). It is produced from wetland paddy of 9.2 M ha and 1.2 M ha dry land paddy.

Vacuum Freezing Characteristics of Passion Fruit
The Design of Baby Fish Counter with Parallel Sensors
This paper describes the design of baby fish counter with parallelsensors to enhance the speed of counting process. This design is developed from the previous baby Jish counter with a single sensor. The counter with 0 single sensor has only one outlet channel through which baby fishes are being $own and counted. The new baby fish counter is designed to have multiple outlet channels, each of which is equipped with a sensor to enable uparullel counting process, and thus increasing the counting speed
Study on the Influence of Anasthesis Temperature and Time on Tiger Shrimp Survival Rate in Dry Transportation System
The objective of this research is tojind out the best temperature, lime and handling method for black tiger shrimp transportation with dry system. Anesthesis method was applied in this research by adopting gradual cooling ut the rate of 5"Cper hour. Anesthesis was done at various temperatures ( I Y, 17, and 15°C) and time (10, 15, and 20 minutes) with temperature in puckuge 17°C. The result showed that the survival rate of black tiger shrimp was affrcted by anesthesis temperature, but not by the time of cooling at the criticaltemperature. The optimum temperature for anesthesis was 15°C with the optimum length of time was I0 minutes. Meanwhile the optimum temperature for transportation was 17°C. gave the highest survival of the black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon Fab.).Key words : Black Tiger Shrimp, Dry Transportation Syste
Measurement of Transfort Properties for The Dried Layer of Several Food Materials Undergoing Freeze-Drying
The transport properties of several food materials have been presented as fundamental information to determine the drying rate of freeze-drying process. As an example, the measuring method of thermal conductyvity and permeability has been demonstrated for the sample of slices and mashed aplles undergoing freeze drying. Both samples were freeze - dried at constan surface temperatur ranging from -10 to 70 under the usual pressure range of commercial operation. A mathematical model, based on quasi-steady state analys, was formulated and then apllied to the drying data to determine these transport properties for the dried layer of the sample undergoing freeze drying. Values of thermal conductivity were found to be almost the same between sliced and mashed samples. However , the permeability data of mashed aplles were more than 4 timer greather than that sliced aplles
Modelling Characteristic of Respiration on Artificial Ripening System of Climacteric Fruit Based on Logistic Equation
As perishable products, fruit have limited shelf life that could disturb the supply continuity on the market. A system consists of Cold storage and artificial ripening chamber could be a solution to this problem. Then, a mathematical model overcome the limited experiment time, expenses and technique.Over the past years, respiration models were built mostly by eksponential type of equations or air diffusion. This paper describes respiration models based on logistic growth model. The logistic model described a population growth in a sigmoid curve, which show slow increase at first, then sharpen until it slowed down to certain position influenced by inhibition factor. The accumulation of carbon dioxide of respiration in closed chamber showed the same symptoms. The inhibition factor used in the models is adapted from inhibition constant of Lee et al. (1992) respiration model, which based on enzyme kinetics. The model has successfully estimated climateric peak of Mas banana under three different length of cold storage, compared to secondary data
Water Use Efficiency of Trickle and Sprinkle Irrigation on Chrysant Plants (Chrysantemum sp)
Chrysant plants (Chrysantemum, sp.) as a horticulture vegetation has an estetical and economical value. Irrigation system which is used for Chrysant plants in PT Tecsuco Nusasemesta\u27s green house are sprinkle and trickle irrigations. The water supply has to be equal with the water consumption of the plants in order to get higher water use eflciency. This research tries to calculate water use eflciency of trickle and sprinkler irrigation and its irrigation cost for chrysant plants. Water economical value is higher than before, so water consumption as one of production factor have to be planned in order to get proper benefit for every comodity. One of the methods to get the higher eflciency of water use is irrigation scheduling
