Exploring the role of moderation in shaping the subjective experience of Genshin Impact players in the Indonesian Facebook group
This research examines the subjective experiences of Genshin Impact players in Indonesia, focusing on interactions within Facebook groups. It explores how group dynamics and moderation influence toxic behavior. By interviewing moderators from two Facebook groups, the study compares toxic behavior and moderation strategies, revealing that active, effective moderation reduces toxicity, while less oversight leads to increased negativity. The findings highlighted the crucial role of community management in shaping player interactions and online group culture. Beyond presenting practical implications for moderators and community managers, the study also contributed conceptually to understanding the relationship between moderation practices and online social behavior. It suggested that future research should involve broader and more diverse player groups to validate and expand these insights

In addition to interviews, observation and document analysis are also conducted. Research findings reveal that Palugada implements six content management stages, including determining target audience characteristics, establishing objectives through 4 content pillars, setting an editorial plan, formulating KPIs, executing content management strategies, and distributing content. The fifth phase involves specific strategies, including research, curation, content production, collaboration, and media monitoring
Communication management in the sister village program: Mount Merapi disaster mitigation efforts with a participatory approach
The 2010 eruption of Mount Merapi led the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Magelang Regency to implement the Sister Village Program as a participatory disaster mitigation strategy. This study aims to examine how communication was managed to support this initiative, focusing on audience identification, goal setting, message planning, and channel selection. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with BPBD officials, village leaders, and residents from both disaster-prone and buffer villages. Findings show that the integration of local knowledge, structured dialog through the three plano papers, and inclusive stakeholder engagement played a critical role in enhancing preparedness and response. The study highlights that communication strategies rooted in community-driven practices foster trust, coordination, and timely evacuation. These results suggest that participatory communication management is essential for effective disaster mitigation and should be adapted to other disaster-prone areas in Indonesia
Midwives’ therapeutic communication to treat antenatal depression
The maternal mortality rate (MMR) and child mortality rate in Indonesia are among the highest in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), ranking 7th out of 10 ASEAN countries. One of the contributing factors is complications during pregnancy and childbirth, in addition to economic, social, and psychological conditions. This situation leads to antenatal depression during pregnancy, highlighting the crucial role of midwives in providing holistic support. The current research investigates the role of midwives in pregnancy using therapeutic communication in tackling the phenomenon of maternal and child mortality. Results indicated that in the pre-interaction, orientation, working, and termination phases, the informants experienced different outcomes that further affected their self-efficacy about those stages
Mate Taon seasonal calendar, ethnographic communication study of Semende Darat community
The Mate Taon calendar is a seasonal calendar typically used by the Semende Darat community, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. This calendar serves as a reference for the agricultural activities of the community established by their ancestors. The aim of this research is to understand the characteristics of mate taon as well as the current knowledge and understanding of the community. The meaning of universality in the Indonesian Idol television program format
Competition between television in Indonesia encourages the existence of a television program planning strategy, mainly to buy the concept of a television format that has been successful in other countries by adopting its success. Of course, the adoption that is carried out requires adaptation to the culture that exists in a country, in this case, through research on the Indonesian Idol event. When adaptation occurs and there are local factors such as the cultural, psychological, and physical factors of the audience, it is at that point that it is questionable whether it is about the meaning of the universality of an adopted show program. With case study methods and constructivism paradigms, as well as data collection through interviews with key informants from Freemantle, RCTI, and the audience. From the data processing, it was found that the meaning of universality is divided into three categories, namely, competition, narrative, and participation, and the meaning of emotion has two categories, namely, as a response and as an effect of contagion
When local virtues meet national policy: Adaptation communication strategies of the Kasepuhan Citorek comunity in the Bayah Dome Geopark
The Kasepuhan Citorek Indigenous Community preserves natural equilibrium through its unique agriculture techniques. The establishment of the Bayah Dome Geopark Program offers hope for sustainable tourism, but it also raises worries about disrupting the previously preserved environmental balance. This research investigates the Citorek community's response to policy and environmental changes using the ideas of development communication, participation, adaptation communication, and populism. The case study technique, which includes in-depth interviews and participant observation, exposes a populist narrative from the government or local elites about the geopark. Collaboration among the government, academics, and local people is critical to sustainable geopark development, with social capital and community engagement playing major roles. The key proposal is to improve the synergy of local-national policy and promote tourism that protects environment and culture
The popularity of political persuasive messages among beginner voters about the 2024 election content on social media posts
This study aims to map what social media is popular among beginner voters as a political reference for the 2024 election. Furthermore, this study will examine persuasive political messages that appeal to novice voters so that it will illustrate what message formulas are popular among novice voters. This research will use a qualitative approach with data collection methods through open questionnaires to explore informants' social media use habits, mandala interviews, and Focus Group Discussions. Informants will be selected using purposive sampling techniques, namely first-time voters who have not been used to vote in regional elections, aged 17-18 years in 2023, and who actively access political information on social media. The results of the menu research show that the message formula that gets the attention of novice voters is in a way that is not pushy or persuasive. Use slang that is easy to understand and not rigid (implicitly does not contain the candidate's vision, mission, and program). Message packaging in videos and photos is more beautiful to novice voters than text because it aligns with social media, which is generally interested in Instagram and TikTok
AI and communication research: Reassessing theory and methodology in the age of automation
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) marks a fundamental shift in communication science, positioning AI not only as a research tool but also as an active entity in the communication process. This paper argues for a paradigm shift from conventional human to human interaction toward beyond human communication, where AI functions as communicator, medium, and message producer. Such transformation requires re-examining communication theories in interpersonal, mass, and technological contexts within a convergent framework. At the theoretical level, communication must be repositioned to address new ontological and epistemological questions. Methodologically, AI offers opportunities through big data and automated analysis while raising ethical challenges such as algorithmic bias and the risk of reducing communication to technical processes. This paper proposes a reflective critical approach that emphasizes adaptive, convergent, and contextual communication theories, ensuring the discipline remains relevant in the era of artificial intelligence
