MEDIA SOSIAL SEBAGAI PENDUKUNG JARINGAN KOMUNIKASI POLITIK
Communication and information technology development makes it easier for interaction between individuals and groups. Message and news traffic are not fully controlled by the state, but are free to flow to public. Therefore, social media that have power to disseminate information, be an option to influence, motivate, and perform actions desired by message spreaders. At the same time, dominance of mainstream mass media is fading away. This study aims to: (1) describe social media users without socioeconomic and political differences, (2) analyze social media and mass media efforts to reach audiences, (3) observe social media as a supporter of political communication networks in democracy state. This study, using qualitative methods to provide a holistic picture of social media in relation to the political communication network utilized by individuals, groups and various political entities. The results of this study are, users of social media are not bound by social, economic and political status; Social media and mainstream mass media have different characters in spreading messages to audiences; And social media is a supporting of political communication network in democracy of the state.
Model Komunikasi Interpersonal Generasi Muda Suku Batak Karo di Yogyakarta Melalui Tradisi Ertutur
Karonese Batak tribe has ertutur tradition. It is communication of someone when meet people for the first time to get position in the custom and family relationship (pertuturen). When someone meets people for the first time, he or she reduces uncertainty by information seeking. This paper aims at analysing ertutur Karonese tradition as interpersonal communication model for Karonese young people living in Yogyakarta using uncertainty reduction theory. Using qualitative method, data were collected by in-depth interview and participatory observation to Karonese young people living in Yogyakarta. The research found that many young Karonese people living in Yogyakarta have difficulties in starting communication. Ertutur tradition can be one way to start communiation

This research aims to analyze communication strategies of public services through family empowerment program (Posdaya). It uses qualitative descriptive method with interactive analysis techniques to analyze data. Data collection was done by interview, observation and document study. The result shows that communication strategy of public services in the community has improved public service aspects on basic needs of society. Posdaya program is one of the programs as a part of empowerment and that generates basic services to community

Komunikasi Corporate Social Responsibility untuk Pemberdayaan Peternak Sapi Perah
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices performed by companies in Indonesia have not shown significant results in term of community empowerment. This study aims to analyze the influence of effectiveness of CSR communication factors conducted by Dairy Processing Industry on dairy farmer’s empowerment on Pangalengan, West Java. Survey and simple regression analysis were used as research method. This research had sampled 220 dairy farmers as respondents that received CSR program. The result indicates: a) factors that significantly influenced the knowledge and attitude of the farmers were: farmer’s characteristic, external factor, CSR communicator’s capacity, information quality, and communication channel; b) CSR communicator’s capacity, information quality and communication channel have significant influence on the dairy farmer’s empowerment in Pangalengan, c) the effectiveness of CSR communication has significant influence on the dairy farmer’s empowerment in Pangalengan
Kampanye Bahaya Rokok dan Pendekatan Rasa Takut (Fear Appeal)
This research aims to assess whether campaign on dangers of smoking have been appropriate as good persuasive message using Extended Parallel Process Model (EPPM)theory by Kim Witte. Persuasion message should contain two aspects: to provide threat on dangers of smoking and at the same time to give a way out in the form of a recommendation that a person could avoid dangers of smoking. The research method used is evaluation research. It evaluated to two campaigns based on Public Service Announcement (PSA) of the Ministry of Health of RI titled “Suara Hati Anak” and PSA of the Ministry of Health Malaysia titled “Smoking Destroys Lives”. The result shows that PSA created by the Ministry of Health of RI doesn’t fully contain elements of good persuasive message compared to PSA made by the Ministry of Health of Malaysia
Media Massa dalam Situasi Konflik: dari Bandwagon Effect Sampai Peace Narrative
Conflict occurs between two or more parties with different interests. Media related to conflict. The ability of the media to influence public opinion is the biggest element in the relationship between media with conflict. The media in this context can be a party that sparked the conflict but could also act as resolutor conflict. Media as a provocateur when play became an arm of one of the conflicting parties, while a conciliator conflict when showing neutrality and information that tends to peace (peace narrative). And theoretical studies should be conducted searches empirical facts on this subject, to clarify the position, the position and role of media in conflict situations. The results can also be used to see the extent to which the media contribute to creating conditions of public space and democratic deliberative. Against this, the choice to stick with journalism be the most appropriate choice for the media in an effort to maintain its position as an agent of democracy in society

This paper aims to analyze the discourse of motto used by Silet, the most favorite infotainment programs of Panasonic Gobel Awards. The research found that Silet has used language that can transform reality. Using language, Silet has constructed meaning to audiences that information presented has changed from original form. Something that is taboo now can be worthy to discuss it after broadcasted by Silet. Silet gives suggestion and ‘false consciousness’ to audiences that everything presented by Silet is good and right. The use of words and motto is a tactic to make proper banality of news content presented by Silet

This article is based on research into intercultural communication competence Bangka ethnic Chinese business relations with ethnic Malay Bangka. Interesting phenomenon of the existence of ethnic Chinese Bangka and business activity is related to the reaction shown by an ethnic Chinese as willing as this ethnic group dominant culture that is ethnic Malay Bangka like learning a language, dress etiquette, talking, hanging out with the group leaning Malay culture, thereby minimizing differences in cultural backgrounds brought by minority individuals. What was achieved ethnic Chinese and Malays Bangka Bangka be seen as something that is formed from the learning process, from the longexperience, delivered and learned through interaction in the family and the environment
