Abstract: The ability of cooperation is an important aspect of personality and needs to be owned by everyone, especially in group learning. Based on the preliminary results of the learning in the fourth grade of CST SDN shows that the ability of student cooperation is still low. This is because the teacher does not give clear instructions about learning in groups, how to learn in groups, how to divide the tasks for each member of his group, and the teacher does not motivate the students to be able to work with friends of his group. This study aims to describe the application of the conferencing approach to improving the ability of cooperation of fourth-grade elementary school students. The research method used is the research of the class action model of Kemmis and Mc Taggart. The subjects of this study were 38 students of grade IV SDN CST. Data collection techniques used were observations and field notes. Qualitative data were taken using techniques from Miles and Huberman which consist of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion, and verification. While the quantitative data is taken using the statistic average and percentage. The results show that the application of the conferencing approach can improve students' cooperative ability, especially on group learning in the classroom

This paper aims to describe integrated learning as a learning approach, which is suggested to be applied in order to develop multiliteration and higher order thinking skills. Multiliteration and higher order thinking skills are needed and must be mastered by the community so that they can actively participate in the 21st century civilization. In this context, education or in its operation is learning to be challenged to be able to develop skills. Based on the literature study, it was concluded that to develop multiliteration and higher order thinking skills, one approach that needs to be applied is the integrated learning approach. There are two things that need to be considered in the application of integrated learning. First, the teacher should formulate learning objectives to develop cognitive process skills at levels C2 through C6. Second, in implementing integrated learning, the teacher ideally applies learning models such as: discover, inquiry, problem based learning, project based learning, cooperative learning models, etc

Literacy is one of life skills that cannot be separated from an individual. Starting from the low literacy ability of elementary school students in Indonesia, especially the ability to read, researchers try to find alternatives that can help students in making literacy activities into fun activities. One of the causes of the low literacy in Indonesia is the difficulty in obtaining fun teaching materials, so that students have assumed that literacy is only limited to school assignments. One of the efforts that the writer did was to use literacy-based teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to find out how the application of literacy-based teaching materials especially big books and whether literacy-based teaching materials can improve students' reading skills. In addition, teachers are expected to be able to make improvements in planning and implementation of learning activities and researchers are expected to be able to collaborate with practitioners in the field, thereby increasing insight and input for teaching in LPTK. This study uses a quantitative approach. The results showed that big books can improve students' reading skills in elementary school

Evolution is one of the main subjects of biology taught in science colleges. Unfortunately, students seem less attention to this subject. In the subject of evolution, the lesson commonly uses the animal as a model to improve the students understanding. The purpose of this study is to compare the ability of tree thinking students who use animals and plants as a model in the evolution lesson. Tree thinking refers to an approach to evolution that emphasizes reading and interpreting phylogenetic tree. This study involved 20 undergraduate students enrolled in the evolution course for biology majors at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). The tree thinking ability of students was measured using Tree Thinking Concept Inventory (TTCI) of Naegle with a little modification. In this test, we analyzed student preferences using animal or plant models using phylogenetic tree diagrams. Results showed that students’ TTCI score was higher when using animal models (65.42%) than plant models (55%). These results suggested that students remain to prefer animal models compare to plant models to study evolution. Nevertheless, the use of plants as models can be an alternative to learning evolution in the future
