Mercato, impresa e lavoro nel contrasto all’infiltrazione mafiosa
This study aims to analyze the regulatory framework for combating mafia infiltration from a labor law perspective. Specifically, it seeks to highlight intersections and conflicts between certain labor law institutions and the relevant regulations, as well as their impact on the workforce. To this end, three measures will be examined: anti-mafia documentation, the Quality Agricultural Work Network, and subcontracting. The analysis reveals a paradox between the progressive liberalization of market regulation and the reliance on (merely) repressive responses, which are poorly aligned with labor law provisions. The study proposes a reading of anti-mafia regulations that better balances the diverse interests at stake.
A NEW PLIOCENE SPERM WHALE FROM VIGLIANO D’ASTI, PIEDMONT, NORTHWEST ITALY
A new sperm whale species is described from the late Zanclean (Early Pliocene) of Piedmont, northwest Italy, based on a partial vertebral column and parts of the forelimb. The new taxon, Eophyseter damarcoi gen. nov. sp. nov., is characterized by elongated vertebral centra in the thoracic and lumbar regions of the vertebral column, wider and higher articular facets for the occipital condyles in the atlas, elliptical and dorsoventrally compressed posterior articular facet of the axis-bearing block, ulna with posteriorly convex margin. These characters distinguish Eophyseter damarcoi gen. nov. sp. nov.from other physeteroids and show that the vertebral proportions are differently arranged with respect to those of the extant sperm whale species. A phylogenetic analysis was performed to understand the relationships of Eophyseter damarcoi gen. nov. sp. nov. by adding 20 postcranial characters to a previous character x taxon matrix; it revealed that E. damarcoi gen. nov. sp. nov. forms a clade with P. macrocephalus. A taphonomic analysis suggested that the carcass of the holotype specimen of Eophyseter damarcoi gen. nov. sp. nov. was exploited by sharks and colonized by barnacles and molluscs; however, a quick burial prevented its total destruction by other invertebrates, as usual in the cetacean fossil record from the Pliocene of Piedmont
REASSESSMENT OF THE AGE OF BASEMENT IN THE VAVILOV BASIN DRILLED AT ODP SITE 651 (TYRRHENIAN SEA, MEDITERRANEAN)
We carried out a biostratigraphic study based on calcareous nannofossils in sediments from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 651, drilled in the basalt-floored Vavilov sub-basin of the Tyrrhenian Sea (western Mediterranean) during Leg 107. The expedition achieved its primary objective to collect basement samples to date the ocean crust and obtain new data for reconstructing the geological evolution of the area. Studies on the ODP Site 651 succession determined the nature of the basement and provided time constraints for tectonic and magmatic processes in the basin, but contradictory lines of evidence emerged for the age of the basalts based on radiometric ages, paleomagnetic signature and planktonic foraminifera data. In an attempt to clarify the basement age, we performed detailed sampling for calcareous nannofossil analysis to update the biostratigraphy and chronology of the sediments overlying the basement. We determined the sediment accumulation rate using reliable nannofossil biohorizons that have a robust chronology, which increases up-section from ~ 2 cm/kyr to 3.4 cm /kyr. The age of the basalt/sediment contact was obtained through extrapolation of the sedimentation rate from the deepest datable portion of the sediments down to the top of basement. The inferred age for the top of the basalt is at least 4.1-4.2 Ma and differs from previous evaluations. This age for the basalt in the Vavilov Basin basement is consistent to a reversed interval C2Ar within the Gilbert magnetochron, supporting one of the chronologies previously proposed
A NEW SPECIES OF THE DEVONIAN ACTINOPTERYGIAN FISH MOYTHOMASIA FROM BELARUS
A new species of early actinopterygian fishes, Moythomasia lebedevi sp. nov., is described based on numerous isolated scales occurring in Middle Devonian (Givetian, Polotskian Regional Stage) marine deposits (Goryn, Stolin and Moroch Beds) of Belarus. These scales characterize different ontogenetic stages (adult and subadult) of the fish. Few additional scales from Upper Devonian (Famennian) marine deposits of Russia (Perm Krai) are attributed to Moythomasia cf. lebedevi sp. nov. based on the ornamentation, scale shape, and the type of scale-to-scale articulation. The new data add to our knowledge on the taxonomic composition of the Givetian and Famennian ichthyofaunas of the East European platform
This reflection focuses on the issue of illegal immigration. Starting from the sociocritical methodological axis, it strives to give the reasons which justify this clandestine migratory phenomenon from the colonialist myth of the prestige conferred on the metropolis to the painting of rampant misery on the continent by putting a point of honour to portray the poor governance of political regimes at the head of African states since most illegal migrants are far from being poor. This is why the analysis is finally presented as a call for the constitution of a real African Union (A. U.) carried by the values of good governance, the only guarantee of incitement of Africans to abandon the clandestine migratory adventure in to participate in the development of the continent for a certain African Renaissance.
Through a perspective that is deeply rooted in Haitian tradition, culture, religion and politics, Le Cri des oiseaux fous (2000) by Dany Laferrière (1953-) re-writes the myth of Antigone by narrating the last 24 hours the protagonist spends in Haiti between the announcement of a fellow journalist’s death and the beginning of his own life abroad. The protagonist’s wanderings correspond to a reflection challenging his own identity, especially in the light of his own father’s life and death. In this novel, the narrator’s grief may not directly challenge the dictatorship, but it triggers an evolution to a new maturity and to adult life in a foreign country. The novel is thus readable through the literary genre of the Bildungsroman, and not only as a way to overcome the existential experience of death.
