Background: Employees’ productivity is closely related with nutritional condition. Nutritional condition can be physically assessed by determining nutrition status. One’s nutrition status is directly influenced by nutrient intake. However, health and nutrition status of an employee in general have not got proper attention that lead to decreasing productivity. Productivity is not only influenced by nutrition status but also by psychological factor that involves motivation. Objectives: To identify association between nutrient intake, nutrition status and motivation and productivity of female workers at production department of Bakpia Pathuk 25 Factory Yogyakarta.Method: The study was a survey that used cross sectional design. Subject of the study were female workers at production department as many as 40 people taken through proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data of subject assessed were nutrient intake (energy, carbohydrate, fat, protein, and Fe), nutrition status, motivation, and productivity. Nutrient intake was assessed using food recall 24 hours within 4 days, nutrition status was specified using anthropometric approach using body mass index (weight/height), motivation was assessed through motivation questionnaire and productivity through quantity of production (raw bakpia) produced by the worker at a time observation (44 minutes for workers at crust production and 1 hour for workers at filing department) within 3 times observation.Result: The result of linear regression analysis showed that association between nutrient intake (energy, carbohydrate, fat, protein and Fe), nutrition status and productivity was r0.05 whereas between motivation and productivity was r=0.901; R2= 0.812; and p=0.000 for variables of wages, intake of energy, Fe and motivation and productivity. Conclusion: There was no significant association between nutrient intake (energy, carbohydrate, fat, protein and Fe) and nutrition status and productivity; there was signifiant association between motivation and productivity. Concurrently only motivation had significant association with productivity
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a clinical syndrome with symptoms of hyperglycemia, urinary glucose excretion and disorder of insulin mechanism. Approximately 90-95% of diabetic patients suffer from type 2 DM. Various studies show that compliance to treatment of chronic disease in general is low. Compliance to eating or food frequency amongst DM patients in hospital in particular is very low. The success of self management of blood glucose (SMBG) needs participation of the patient, families, and educator team. Objective: To study the factors affecting eating compliance particularly eating schedule among type 2 diabetic out-patient who had nutrition counseling in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta.Method: It was an observasional study with cross sectional design and purposive sampling. Data collection was done in October 2008 with 98 subjects. The sampel were type 2 diabetic out-patients according to inclusion criteria at out- patient clinic in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta. Statistical test with 95% confidence interval was applied to investigate factors infuenced eating compliance. Results: There were no correlations between eating compliance and disease duration (RP= 1,253 and p =0,403), and also with type of occupation (RP= 1,047 dan p= 1,000). However, it was found that family support affected eating compliance (RP= 1,723 dan p= 0,025) as well as eating schedule before nutrition counseling (RP = 2,151 and p= 0,02).Conclusion: Duration of disease and type of occupation did not affect eating compliance. Nevertheless, family support and eating schedule before nutrition education affected eating compliance among type 2 DM out-patients in RSUD Kota Yogyakarta
Pola makan berhubungan dengan sindrom metabolik pada lanjut usia di Poliklinik Geriatri RSUP Sanglah Denpasar
Background: Food intake is a factor determining health status and risk for degenerative diseases including metabolic syndrome. The fundamental function of someone’s nutritional status in the process of the emergence of generative disease and metabolic syndrome can be identified through the effect of food to the prevalence of obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia or glucose tolerance disorder. Objective: To identify the association between eating pattern and the prevalence of metabolic syndrome among the elderly at Geriatric Polyclinic of Sanglah Hospital Denpasar.Method: The study was analytic observational with matched case control study design using ratio 1:1. There were 80 samples consisting of 40 as control group and 40 as cases matched by age and gender. Eating pattern was identified through food frequency questionnaire and calculated and compared to the need. Statistical analysis used chi square and risk factors were measured using odds ratio (OR). Multivariate analysis used double logistic regression to find out risk factors dominantly affected metabolic syndrome.Result: The result of bivariate statistical test showed significant difference in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (p < 0.05) for energy intake (OR: 9.1; CI95%: 1.9-43.8), protein (OR: 3.8; CI95%: 1.5-9.7), fat (OR: 3.8; CI95%: 1.1-13.2), carbohydrate (OR:11.4; CI95%: 2.3-54.2). The result of multivariate analysis showed that the variables having dominant risk and significant difference in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome were carbohydrate consumption (OR: 8.1; CI95%: 1.29–50.89), fat consumption (OR: 4.9; CI95%: 1.17-20.61) and protein consumption (OR: 3.9; CI95%: 1.27-12.30).Conclusion: There was difference in eating pattern, i.e. high consumption of carbohydrate, fat and protein which became risk factor for the prevalence of metabolic syndrome among the elderly at Geriatric Polyclinic of Sanglah Hospital Denpasar

Status gizi awal berdasarkan Patient Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) berhubungan dnegan asupan zat gizi dan perubahan berat badan pada penderita kanker rawat inap di RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hosein Palembang
Background: Weight loss is commonly detected among cancer patients in their early stages. This presumably happens due to low calory intake and increasing energy requirements which finally lead to malnutrition in cancer patients. Early detection to identify nutrition problems of cancer patients is through screening so as to maximize nutrient intake through nutrition therapy and diet modification and to improve nutrition status as well as quality of life of cancer patients. Objective: The study aimed to identify the relationship between nutrition status based on PS-SGA and nutrient intake and weight loss of cancer patients hospitalized at Dr. M. Hoesin Hospital of Palembang. Methods: The study was observational with prospective cohort study design. In this study the group that had fulfilled inclusion criteria were screened during their early hospitalization (within 24 hours) using patient-generated subjective global assessment score to identify their nutrition problem. Next, the group was divided into 2 smaller groups consisting of one group with malnutrition and another group without malnutrition. Analysis of nutrient intake obtained from foods provided by the hospital and outside the hospital was made to the two groups within 2 weeks of hospitalization using visual comstock and food record. Anthropometric measurement was made to find weight loss the subject of the study. Results: The results of the study showed that there was significant relationship between nutrition status and intake of energy and protein with p=0.000. The result of logistic regression test to nutrition status based on weight changes indicated that there was significant relationship between risk of nutrition and weight changes; patients with risk of nutrition had 7.016 times greater probability for weight loss than those without risk of nutrition (95% C5 2.896-16.997).Conclusion: There was significant relationship between nutrition status and nutrient intake among cancer patients and there was greater probability for weight loss
Metode persalinan dan hubungannya dengan inisiasi menyusu dini di RSUP Dr. Sardjito Yogyakrta
Background: The 2002-2003 IDHS shows that the presentation of breastfeeding within an hour after birth or early initiation in Indonesia is still low (38%). According to some studies, early initiation plays an important role in reducing infant mortality rate, determining the success of exclusive breastfeeding, preventing pre-lactation feeding, creating more intensive bonding between mother and baby. Some earlier studies state that delivery methods are related with early initiation. However, there have been some studies whose results are in contrast with those previous studies. Objective: To study the relationship between delivery methods and early initiation in Dr. Sardjito hospital, Yogyakarta.Method: This was an observational study with a cross-sectional study design through quantitative and qualitative approaches. Samples were postpartum women in Dr. Sardjito hospital as many as 100 respondents. Data were analyzed with univariable analysis using frequency distribution table, bivariable analysis using chi-square, and multivariable analysis using binary regression. Results: The proportion of early initiation of breastfeeding was three times greater in women who gave birth with normal delivery methods than women who gave birth with cesarean section (RR=3.1; 95% CI=1.42-6.89). Another factor that was related with early initiation of breastfeding was the support from health providers (RR=2.3; 95% CI=1.36-3.78). Meanwhile, women’s age, knowledge, parity, economic status, and mother’s disease were insignifcantly related with early initiation. Conclusion: The proportion of early initiation of breastfeeding was three times greater in women who gave birth with normal delivery methods than women who gave birth with cesarean section. Another factor that was related with early initiation of breastfeeding was the support from health providers. Meanwhile, women’s age, knowledge, parity, economic status, and disease were insignifcantly related with early initiation of breastfeeding
