    A MATLAB Code for Three Dimensional Linear Elastostatics using Constant Boundary Elements

    Present work presents a code written in the very simple programming language MATLAB, for three dimensional linear elastostatics, using constant boundary elements. The code, in full or in part, is not a translation or a copy of any of the existing codes. Present paper explains how the code is written, and lists all the formulae used. Code is verified by using the code to solve a simple problem which has the well known approximate analytical solution. Of course, present work does not make any contribution to research on boundary elements, in terms of theory. But the work is justified by the fact that, to the best of author's knowledge, as of now, one cannot find an open access MATLAB code for three dimensional linear elastostatics using constant boundary elements. Author hopes this paper to be of help to beginners who wish to understand how a simple but complete boundary element code works, so that they can build upon and modify the present open access code to solve complex engineering problems quickly and easily. The code is available online for open access (as supplementary file for the present paper), and may be downloaded from the website for the present journal

    BTC Technique for Image Compression based on Eight Level Quantization.

    Image compression is reducing irrelevance and redundancy of the image data in order to be able to store or transmit data in an efficient form. There are many lossy and lossless techniques available for image compression.Block truncation coding is a lossy moment preserving quantization method for image compression. Its advantages are simplicity, fault tolerance, the relatively high compression efficiency and good image quality of the decoded image. The reduction in file size allows more images to be stored in a given amount of disk or memory space. It also reduces the time required for images to be sent over the Internet or downloaded from web pages Adaptive block truncation coding is based on multi level quantizer, where four levels are used for the method. The proposed method is based on the adaptive block truncation coding using eight levels over separate block for image compression. The proposed designed method will need much less time than the other related methods and will try to improve the results over input images

    An Experimental Study on Open Sun Drying of Vermicelli

    In this research paper, an attempt has been made to determine the convective heat transfer coefficients of vermicelli for different thicknesses under open sun drying mode. Various experiments were conducted in the months of March and April 2012 for open sun drying of vermicelli in the climatic conditions of Rohtak (28o 40’: 29 05’N 76o 13’: 76o 51’E). Experimental data were used to evaluate the values of constants (C and n) in the Nusselt number expression by using linear regression analysis and consequently convective heat transfer coefficients were determined. The average values of convective heat transfer coefficients were found to be 5.61 W/m2 oC and 4.13 W/m2 oC for vermicelli of diameters 2 mm and 1.25 mm respectively. The experimental errors in terms of percent uncertainty have also been evaluated

    Morphological and Thermal Properties of CaCO3 Nanopowders Synthesized by Reverse Microemulsion Technique

    As an important inorganic material, calcium carbonate (CaCO3) has been widely used as fillers in paper making, plastics, rubbers and coating due to its low price and abundant availability. Nanoparticles of calcium carbonate enhance their properties manifold. This article presents reverse micro-emulsion method for the synthesis of calcium carbonate nanoparticles (nano-calcite). A reverse micro-emulsion system of Surfactants (Span80 Tween80)/Toluene/water was selected for this study due to its wide stable-region. CaCO3 particles synthesised were surface modified by stearic acid. The effect of different concentrations of surfactants (span-80/tween-80) on the synthesis of nano-CaCO3 was investigated. The material was characterized by SEM, TEM, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and TGA/DTA techniques. X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD) confirmed cubic structure of nano-CaCO3 showing characteristic reflection of calcite phase. The size of the nano-particles was determined by TEM as well as XRD data for various concentrations of surfactants. The results showed that the size of the nano-particles was influenced by the concentration of the surfactants in the micro-emulsion system. TGA results demonstrated that decreasing the size of nano-particles resulted in the weight loss: these thermal decompositions may be attributed to calcite

    Currently, numerous voice coding techniques are used for voice processing purposes. Each type of these techniques has its own strengths and weaknesses. However, all the coding techniques fail to deliver a satisfactory performance when it comes to music processing. In this paper, we have worked with two very popular and contemporary voice coding techniques: Linear Prediction Coding (LPC) and Code Excited Linear Prediction Coding (CELP). This paper focuses on the implementation and simulation of both these state of the art coding techniques. The paper also focuses on the determination of which technique gives better performance for music synthesis. Finally, comparative study of the performance through pitch analysis have been made and proposed the technique which is better applicable for musical voice synthes

    This paper presents a variable voltage variable frequency (vvvf) method torque control of induction motor modeled in the synchronously rotating dq reference frame using V/f PWM technique Hence induction motor to generate supply torque closely matching with demand torque resulting in elimination of flywheel. Design of an any process machine with flywheel for certain demand torque characteristics introduces torsion vibrations in the power transmission system of any process machine. This method should reduce fatigue in the components of power transmission system thereby prolonging equipment functional failure. The results obtained show a superior performance in the two basic mechanical characteristics: motor speed and electromechanical torque. The performance of this proposed scheme is presented in MATLAB/SIMULIN

    Supervised Anomaly Detection using Clustering-based Normal Behaviour Modeling

    In this paper we present a clustering based supervised anomaly detection technique. A set of training data consisting of normal data only are divided into clusters which are represented by their profiles to form the normality model. Any deviation from the normality model is treated as attack. Methods for clustering, training and detection are provided. Our technique produces good results for KDD CUP 1999 datasets. Performance measuring methods like Recall, Precision, and F1measure for good clustering are applied. Measurings of performance are evaluated with important algorithms of ANI
