Comparative studies of ClO2, H2O 2 and O2 treatment of Bamboo pulp on the formation of chlorinated phenolics in the bleach effluent

    No full text
Elemental chlorine and chlorine compounds are commonly used in the developing countries for bleaching of pulp. The study deals with the bleaching of Bamboo pulp with chlorine, chlorine dioxide, peroxide and O2 treatment and identification of various chlorophenolics compounds. The results show that quantity of the total chlorophenolic compounds formed decreases up to 82% at 100% replacement of chlorine by chlorine dioxide in C stage. A 40% reduction in effluent COD and 79% reduction in color value of CEH effluent indicate a significant drop in pollution load. There is a reduction of 54% in total chlorophenolic compound in the CEH effluent when E stage is changed to Ep. The COD and color values are reduced by 35% and 33% respectively as E stage is changed to Ep stage. Oxygen delignification stage (prebleaching stage) reduced the formation of chlorophenolic compounds by 74%. The effluent COD is reduced by 30% and the color value is reduced by 46% during this stage

    No full text
This paper presents a novel CMOS differential voltage current conveyor. The differential voltage current conveyor exhibits low voltage and a wide dynamic input range. It is very suitable to use in a voltage-mode signal processing, which is continually more popular than any other technique. The proposed element is realized in a CMos technology and is examined the performances through PSPICE simulations. Experimental results show good agreement with the simulation results and prove the feasibility of the novel design

HPDE: A Novel Hybrid PSO-DE Algorithm for Global Optimization Problems

    No full text
DE and PSO are population based heuristic search technique which can be used to solve the optimization problems modeled on the concept of Evolutionary Approach. In the present study we proposed a new algorithm based on hybridization of DE and PSO algorithm called Hybrid Particle Swarm Differential Evolution Algorithm (HPDE) for solving global optimization algorithms. The numerical and statistical results are examined on a set of six standard benchmark functions and results are compared with classical DE in term of number of function evaluations (NFE) and average fitness function values. The results show that the HPDE algorithm outperforms the classical DE in term of all considered performance measure

Classification of Power quality problems by wavelet Fuzzy expert system

    No full text
Electric power quality, which is a current interest to several power utilities all over the world, is often severely affected by harmonics and transient disturbances. There is no unique model which can assess the power quality problem and to identify and classify them properly. Existing automatic recognition methods need improvement in terms of their versatility, reliability, and accuracy. The FUZZY LOGIC based tools have been applied for the PQ classification. This paper addresses Power quality problem classification by wavelet and fuzzy expert system. Major Key issues and challenges related to these advanced techniques in automatic classification of PQ problems are highlighted. New intelligent system technologies using DSP, expert systems, AI and machine learning provide some unique advantages in intelligent classification of PQ distortions

Effectiveness of FACTS Devices for Power System Stability Enhancement

    No full text
Abstract The development of the modern power system has led to an increasing complexity in the study of power systems, and also presents new challenges to power system stability, and in particular, to the aspects of transient stability and small-signal stability. Transient stability control plays a significant role in ensuring the stable operation of power systems in the event of large disturbances and faults, and is thus a significant area of research. This paper investigates the improvement of transient stability of a two-area power system, using TCSC which is an effective FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission System) device. Simulations are carried out in Matlab/Simulink environment for the two-area power system model with TCSC to analyze the effects of TCSC on transient stability performance of the system. The performance of TCSC is compared with other FACTS devices such as Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC), and Static Var Compensator (SVC). The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed TCSC on transient stability improvement of the system

Comparison of Wavelet Transform and Fourier Transform based methods of Phasor Estimation for Numerical Relaying

    No full text
Estimation of fundamental frequency component of current and/or voltage signals is essential for relaying decision in most of the numerical algorithms used for the protection of power system components. Modern numerical relays generally use discrete Fourier transform for extracting the fundamental component from the post fault signals consisting of fundamental as well as non-fundamental frequency signals. With the advent of wavelet analysis, many researchers used wavelet analysis for the phasor estimation with the claims of better performance. The paper compares the performance of discrete wavelet transform method with discrete Fourier transform method for phasor estimation, considering the effect of decaying dc offset. MATLAB software was used for programming and simulation

Torque Ripple minimization of vector controlled VSI Induction Motor Drive using Neuro-Fuzzy Controller

    No full text
This paper presents Neuro-fuzzy based Torque controller for indirect vector controlled VSI fed induction motor drive. The proposed controller significantly reduces the torque ripple compared to that of conventional PI controllers without using filter. The performance of the vector controlled induction motor drive has been simulated with and without loading conditions using the Neuro-fuzzy controller and the results are compared with PI controller. Additionally, a SVPWM algorithm in which the calculation of switching times proportional to the instantaneous values of the reference phase voltages is used. It eliminates the need the calculation of sector and angle information

It is widely recognized that data security, influence ofprocessor types used, resources and the architecture regardingthroughputs are playing a central role in IT systems. EllipticCurve Cryptography (ECC) is a sort of public-key cryptographythat is an alternative to other public-key algorithms like RSA,DSA. It is widely accepted because of the usage of smallerparameters than other public-key cryptosystems but with samelevel of security, reduces the memory consumption of hardwareand software by using the special kind of functionalities and animproved versions of algorithm with a larger margin of theprevious systems by using an extension of ECC called KoblitzCurve. It has becoming increasingly common to implementsuch kind of systems that takes a shorter computational time foran execution of an instruction. The previous versions were of anarithmetic computation that takes a longer time. I haveemphasized on fuzzy modular arithmetic that takes a veryshorter time towards the computational growth compared to thestandard one. I have also measured the performances in threesenses like theoretically, software and hardware perspective thatshows the evolution in the field of cryptograp
