Comparative Analysis between Conventional Learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in the Aspect of Understanding Indonesian Vocabulary

    No full text
Research shows that PBL, which places students as active subjects in learning by emphasizing problem solving, provides better results in improving vocabulary understanding compared to conventional learning. Students who engage in PBL tend to have higher scores because they are actively involved in the learning process, where they are faced with challenging problems and given the opportunity to find their own solutions. In an effort to increase the effectiveness of the learning process, the use of learning models is crucial. The right learning model plays an important role in achieving educational goals. The purpose of this article is to compare conventional learning models and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in understanding Indonesian vocabulary. By using qualitative methods. However, there are several obstacles in implementing PBL, such as lack of familiarity of students and teachers with this model and time constraints. However, the effectiveness of a learning model does not only depend on the model itself, but is also influenced by various other factors such as student characteristics, the quality of teacher teaching, and school environmental conditions. Thus, selecting a learning model that suits students' needs and characteristics is the key to achieving effective learning goals and increasing understanding of Indonesian vocabulary

Modulation Technique in Clarifying the Implicature of Qur’anic Kin?yah Verses

    No full text
Modulation techniques are used when there is a gap in the lexical meaning of a translation, so a shift in semantic meaning is needed, such as a change in perspective, to avoid untranslatability in translation. This study analyzes the use of modulation techniques in translating Qur’anic kin?yah verses. Kin?yah is a figurative expression to describe something with a different meaning from its original. Therefore, translating kin?yah verses requires an in-depth understanding of the implicature hidden in the utterance. This study uses a qualitative approach with a content analysis method. The researcher will examine the content of the study of Qur’anic kin?yah verses and their translations from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The research uses primary data sources in the form of Qur’anic kin?yah verses with a law theme due to differences of opinion among scholars and researchers. Then, the research analyzes the application of the modulation techniques and their implicature meaning based on relevance. The research finds that the Qur’anic kin?yah verses have shifted meaning from denotative to connotative, which aims to hide the original meaning and avoid inappropriate words. After analyzing the implicature meaning, it is found that the law-themed Qur’anic kin?yah verses contain majazi (connotative) meanings that refer to the meaning of intercourse as seven utterances, marriage as two utterances, and menstrual blood as one utterance. The shift in meaning has implications for better understanding and avoiding ambiguity in the translated text. Also, it contributes to the improvement of the readability and quality of translated Qur’anic verses

Learning Arabic vocabulary in early childhood is essential for developing basic language skills. However, more attention must be paid to applying digital media, such as YouTube, to language learning with a behaviorist approach, specifically Thorndike's theory. This study aims to analyze Arabic vocabulary teaching in early childhood using YouTube based on Thorndike's behaviorism theory at Asy-Syukuriyah TPA. The research method is descriptive qualitative, with a purposive sampling technique involving teachers as informants. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results showed that using YouTube as a medium for learning Arabic vocabulary is to the principles of the law of readiness, practice, and consequences in Thorndike's behaviorism theory. The law of readiness can be seen from the teacher ensuring the children's readiness before starting learning. Furthermore, the law of practice is seen by repeating material through videos to strengthen memory and questions about the material provided. Finally, the law of consequences is seen in the praise given by the teacher when children successfully answer the questions presented. In conclusion, if used strategically and systematically, YouTube as a learning media can be an effective tool in teaching Arabic in early childhood and can strengthen the association between stimulus and response through repetition. The findings have implications that YouTube-based learning based on Thorndike's theory of behaviorism has the potential to be applied more widely, with further research on different age groups and subjects as well as in-depth analysis of student characteristics.Pembelajaran mufradat (kosakata) Bahasa Arab, pada anak usia dini memiliki peran penting dalam mengembangkan keterampilan bahasa mereka sejak dini. Finally, the researcher interpreted the data and drew conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the expressive language abilities of autistic children are still hindered by several factors, such as fluency in speaking, pronunciation, and unclear articulation, especially in words containing the letters or endings L, N, M, R, T, and NG. Autistic children tend to speak in short phrases and are experience significant challenges in active communication, nor can they convey information clearly. However, Bela Citra Kinanjur (BCK) is able to write independently with simple compositions, although some grammatical errors are still present, such as in the use of articles, spacing, and writing mechanics. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers help build the confidence of autistic students through public speaking activities, writing therapy, and word-building stimulation

This research aims to analyze how Tempo magazine uses verbal and visual signs on its covers to construct political narratives and shape public discourse related to the current political situation. Using semiotic analysis, the study examines the way Tempo magazine uses a combination of verbal and visual elements to convey complex political narratives. Two specific covers, “Cawe-Cawe Setelah Pencoblosan” and “Saling Kunci Kursi Menteri,” are analyzed to uncover the implicit messages and socio-political contexts represent. Qualitative methods are applied in this research. The research fr is based on Chandler's (2007) theory of signs, Barthes' (1968) concepts of connotation and denotation, and Cerrato's (2012) color analysis framework. The results indicate the selected magazine covers contain 22 verbal signs and 17 visual signs. Both covers use striking visuals and provocative text to illustrate complex political narratives and make power struggles clearer. Tempo effectively blends cultural language and visual metaphors to simplify these dynamics, highlighting the need for media literacy to understand such messages. The findings highlight how Tempo strategically employs strong imagery and provocative headlines to frame political events, thereby influencing public perceptions and contributing to the construction of political discourse in Indonesia. The conclusion emphasizes that media, through such visual and verbal strategies, not only reflects but actively shapes political realities, underscoring the significant role of the press in guiding public opinion and shaping socio-political narratives. These insights suggest a broader implication for the media’s role in both informing and influencing the political landscape in Indonesia

    No full text
This study addresses the significance of understanding word formations for consumable items in the game Honkai: Star Rail. While previous literature identifies nine words formation techniques, their application to consumable item names in this game has not been thoroughly explored. To bridge this gap, we compiled 77 consumable item names that are in the game and analyzed it, utilizing in-game resources such as item descriptions. The analysis revealed that 17 items met our criteria for word formation analysis. We found that out of the nine theorized word formation techniques, only five techniques were identified in the word formation of item names. Most of the words used in forming the new consumable item names were associated with the consumable item's function or physical characteristics. However, the result of some names suggested a deeper connection to the game’s in-game lore. This research provides valuable insights into the naming process for objects, particularly in games, demonstrating that object names can carry linguistic or meaningful implications. In conclusion, this study enhances our understanding of word formations in the context of game item names, shedding light on aspects of the naming process, especially the linguistic aspect, and offering an example of a practical application of the naming of objects in differing contexts
