EKSISTENSI DIRI TOKOH GENKO SENSEI DALAM CERPEN ADAPTASI MAHOU HAKASE KARYA IWAYA SAZANAMI

Dalam penelitian ini, penulis mengambil salah satu karya dari Iwaya Sazanami yaitu Mahou Hakase. Cerpen ini diterbitkan pada jilid ke 4 dari 100 jilid buku Sekai Otogibanashi (Dongeng Anak Dunia) yang berisi tentang dongeng dari berbagai negara pada bulan Mei 1899.Skripsi ini membahas tentang eksistensi dari tokoh Genko Sensei dalam cerpen Mahou Hakase. Eksistensi memiliki arti manifestasi dari kualitas diri. Seseorang tidak akan diakui eksistensinya apabila ia tidak memiliki kualitas yang secara mencolok berbeda atau lebih dari orang lain.Penelitian ini menggunakan teori eksistensi dari Kierkegard. Tahapan teori eksistensi dari Kierkegard terdiri dari tahap estetis, tahap etis dan tahap religius. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis sebagai metode penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Genko Sensei ingin terlihat menonjol di hadapan orang lain dan berambisi dengan melakukan segala cara agar dikenal dan dihormati banyak orang. Eksistensi Genko Sensei juga terlihat pada Miuchi, Nakama, Dohou dan Seken ketika berinteraksi dengan orang lain.Penulis menyarankan bagi penelitian selanjutnya yang meneliti cerpen Mahou Hakase agar dapat meneliti dengan pendekatan psikoanalisis atau moralitas
THE IMPLICATURE IN FLOUTING OF MAXIMS FOUND IN THE SIMPSONS MOVIE

People express their feelings and convey their intention throughcommunication. Good communication will happen if people obey four maxims incooperative principle. However, there is a phenomenon when someone flouts themaxims since they want to imply something. The phenomenon is called implicature that always comes with flouting of maxims. The phenomenon is presented in The Simpsons Movie. There are two research problems of the study, namely: (1) what are the flouted maxims found in “The Simpsons Movie†and (2) what is the most frequent flouting of maxim found in “The Simpsons Movie and What are the possible reasons for the most frequently appears flouted maxim?This study uses qualitative approach in relation to the use of clear description about the phenomena being studied. Document analysis is applied in this study to analyze conversation of the characters through the script of The Simpsons movie. This study reveals that all floutings of maxims occur in this movie. From the occurrence of all maxims, maxim of manner is flouted most frequently. When this maxim is flouted, the hearer tends to fail to infer the intended meaning conveyed by the speaker due to its obscurity.The writer suggests the next researchers conduct a research in movie which has funny and unique implicature to make interesting analysis and consider the context carefully in analyzing the data to make accurate analysis. Furthermore, the writer also suggests the next researcher make comparison between a study which uses movie as the as the data source to a study which uses other literary works as the data source
ANTI-RACISM SEEN IN STEVEN SPIELBERG’S AMISTAD

Anti-racism intends topromote an egalitarian society not to face discrimination due to their race.Amistad is a movie which shows that there are some characters that still havecompassion to each other without differentiating race or skin color. In this study, the writer analyzes the action and the statement to prove theanti racism shown by the characters in Amistad. The result of the study discoversthat anti-racism is manifested in some characters in this movie. They areTheodore Joadson, Lewis Tappan, Roger Sherman Baldwin, John Quincy Adam,Cinque, the Army, John Forsyth, Free Slaves. These characters are brave enoughto express their actions and thoughts to struggle against racism which isconsidered bad. They think that all people have the same right and deserve to get equal treatment in every aspect of life without any discrimination.It is suggested for the next researchers to conduct a study on the same filmwith other approaches, for example, psychological approach. This perspective can be used to identify the psychological condition of the characters in facing thechallenges in White majority society
ERROR ANALYSIS ON ENGLISH PURE VOWELS PRONUNCIATION PRODUCED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER OFFICERS IN JUANDA AIRPORT

In this study, the pure vowels examined were /iË/, /ɪ/, /ÊŠ/, /uË/, /e/, /Ç/, /Éœ:/, /É”Ë/, /æ/, /ÊŒ/, /É‘:/, and /É’/.In this study, the researcher used qualitative approach because she focused on the explanation and description rather than specific number. The data of this study was the recording of English pure vowels pronunciation produced by 13 Customer Service Center officers in Juanda Airport. In getting the data, the writer used two instruments. Those were the pronunciation test which was formulated based on the theory from Kelly (2011) about English pure vowels and the questionnaire which was formulated based on the theory from Murcia et.al (2010) about factors affecting the learning of pronunciation. In analyzing the data, the researcher did the process of error identification, error description and explanation.The finding revealed that most of the errors were in form of substitution and some were in form of addition. There were 11 vowels regarded as the most problematic to pronounce, those were vowels /i:/ , /ÊŠ/ /u:/, /É™/, /Éœ:/ , /ↄ:/, /æ/, /É‘:/, /É’/, /É™/, /É…/, and /ɪ/. In addition, there were three possible factors causing the errors in pronouncing English pure vowels. Those factors were the role of native language,the unfamiliarity toward English words, and the lack exposure of English uses. However, the role of native language, especially about the different phonemic system between the native language and the target language and the unfamiliarity toward English words made the officers pronounced the words which were tested as they assumed.By this study, the researcher would like to suggest that further researchers conduct similar studies with the different subject like error analysis on Indonesian pure vowels which are produced by Indonesian learners who come from English speaking country
CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN INDONESIAN AND ENGLISH REPORTED SPEECH

In this study, the researcher conducted research about contrastive analysis between Indonesian and English reported speech. The aim of this study is finding the differences and similarities between Indonesian and English reported speech patterns. This study used qualitative research and descriptive study to contrast the theories between Indonesian and English reported speech. Six textbooks related to English reported speech theories and a novel were used as the data in English, while data in Indonesian were three textbooks, an article, and a novel. This study reveals that there are more differences rather than similarities between those both languages. There are twelve differences, namely: 1) English has four general report sentences patterns while Indonesian has three; 2) reporting question; 3) reporting yes/no question; 4) reporting negative sentence 5) the adverb of place; 6) demonstrative adjective; 7) the tenses; 8) the adverb of time; 9) the modals;10) reporting suggestion; 11) –ing clause; 12) to-infinitive. The researcher has foundsome similarities namely: 1) no quotation marks; 2) the change of pronouns; 3) theintonations; 4) reporting prohibition; 5) reporting order; 6) the use of say and tell; 7)the entire quotation is in form of report sentence. Since the differences of the patternsare more than the similarities, it is predicted that Indonesian learners of English willface some difficulties in learning reported speech. The researcher suggests Indonesian learners of English focus on the differences in order to master reported speech deeply. The researcher recommends the teachers to understand the differences which enable them to teach reported speech. For the next researchers, it is recommended to conduct contrastive analysis in Indonesian and English with different topic or between other languages

Anime Samurai Champloo karya sutradara Shinichiro Watanabe menggambarkan salah satu produk pemikiran manusia yang dipengaruhi oleh Postmodernisme. Pada pemikiran postmodern batas hirarki tradisional runtuh, karya-karya yang tidak orisinal diakui, kebudayaan alternatif yang tidak mengikuti pakem arus utama diberi tempat, diapresiasi, diproduksi, dan dikonsumsi. Dengan menggunakan kajian postmodern, penelitian ini akan menjelaskan eksistensi Postmodernisme dengan menunjukkan bentuk-bentuk perpaduan budaya tinggi dan budaya rendah dalam adegan-adegan anime ini secara deskriptif melalui teks dan gambar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan prinsip utama postmodern, yaitu hirarki yang hilang dalam konsep kebudayaan tinggi dan rendah akibat reproduksi elemen-elemen budaya pada masa lampau yang kemudian dimassakan dengan jalan memparodikan teks orisinal, memperkaya penggayaan terhadap dandanan para karakter, serta mematahkan keselarasan-keselarasan dalam dialog antar elemen pada unsur pembangun cerita. Anime Samurai Champloo sendiri masih memiliki beberapa muatan lain yang menarik untuk dikaji oleh karena itu, penulis menyarankan untuk meneliti anime ini dengan pendekatan postmodern murni tanpa terfokus dalam perpaduan budaya tinggi dan budaya rendah kemudian dapat juga menggunakan pendekatan historis untuk mengetahui pemberontakan shimabara dan perkembangan agama Katholik di Jepang

Confessions of Shopaholic the movie tells about the struggle of a woman as the main character who suffers psychological problem when she is at the shop. She wants to buy many things that she want. She still loves shopping even though she was being chased by a debt collector.This research uses qualitative approach to analyze the object of the study. Freudian psychoanalysis theory used to solve the problem that is the psychological problem faced by Rebecca and how she copes with her psychological problem. Defense mechanism is the strategy developed by the ego to protect against anxiety. Defense mechanisms are expected to keep the mind against feeling and thoughts that are too hard for conscious mind to overcome. The writer also analyzes the mise-en-scene of each scene to help her understand more about the Rebecca’s personality. Mise-en-scene refers to all objects in a specific frame and character primarily refers to the composition of the frame.The research shows that Rebecca has psychological problem that is anxiety.She does a denial as a defense mechanism for relieving her id. However she is finally able to cope with her psychological problem by watching the tutorial from the author of “Control Your Urge to Shop†by Garret E. Barton, joining the shopaholic community, write “The Girl with Green scarfâ€, sell all her goods that she has bought by her credit card to pay her debts.Furthermore, the writer suggests the next researcher to analyze other aspects like defense mechanism that arise in Confessions of Shopaholic movie. It is because there are still many aspects that can be explored by using different theory approaches such as semiotics
ANALISIS KESALAHAN KATA BANTU BILANGAN (JOSŪSHI) PADA SISWA KELAS XII BAHASA SMAN 1 PANDAAN TAHUN AJARAN 2013-2014
Get PDFKata Kunci: Analisis Kesalahan, Kata Bantu Bilangan, dan Josūshi, Kata bantu bilangan (josūshi) digunakan dalam menyatakan satuan atau jumlah, frekuensi atau kekerapan, ukuran atau derajat, urutan, persentase, kelipatan, dan sebagainya bagi kelompok objek (termasuk benda dan manusia) tertentu. Dalam kata bantu bilangan (josūshi), ada beberapa pengecualian yang mengalami perubahan bunyi setelah digabungkan dengan bilangan-bilangan tertentu. Hal tersebut memungkinkan terjadinya kesalahan bagi para pembelajar bahasa Jepang. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis akan menjawab rumusan masalah yaitu (1) Jenis kesalahan apa saja yang sering terjadi pada siswa kelas XII Bahasa SMAN I Pandaan Tahun Ajaran 2013-2014 dalam memahami kata bantu bilangan (josūshi), dan (2) Faktor penyebab kesalahan siswa kelas XII Bahasa SMAN I Pandaan Tahun Ajaran 2013-2014 dalam memahami kata bantu bilangan (josūshi).Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode penelitian pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yang menggunakan tes dan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 39 responden, jenis kesalahan sering terjadi pada kesalahan fonologi. Faktor penyebab kesalahan tersebut karena adanya banyak pengecualian pada kata bantu bilangan (josūshi) yang mengalami perubahan bunyi setelah digabungkan dengan angka tertentu.Penulis menyarankan kepada guru pengajar agar guru memberikan penjelasan dengan menggunakan istilah-istilah tatabahasa yang menarik, selain itu guru sebaiknya memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk menjelaskan sendiri media yang seperti apa yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran, karena pembelajar yang satu memiliki kesukaan yang berbeda dengan pembelajar lain. Sedangkan saran kepada siswa untuk lebih banyak menghafal dan mempelajari kembali tentang pengecualian yang mengalami perubahan bunyi
NEGATIVE PORTRAYAL OF POWERFUL WOMAN REFLECTED BY RAVENNA CHARACTER IN SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

Literature is commonly used to refer to prose, novels, poetry, drama, short story, folktales, etc. Folktale is a term for various kinds of narrative prose literature found in the oral traditions of the world. Some folktales may pass in and out of written literature, and some stories of literary origin may cross over into oral tradition from one generation to other generation. Nowadays, there are folktales that are written and also filmed.Film is one of the media that is made to visualize literary works that convey message to people. There are some films that are adapted from folktale, such as; Hansel and Gretel, Mirror Mirror, Enchanted, Sydney White and many others.In 2012, there was a movie adapted from Snow White story, Snow White and The Huntsman. Snow White and the Huntsman tells about Snow White whose stepmother, Ravenna, tried to get immortal life after taking over the kingdom from her husband, King Magnus. The writer analyze the misapplication of woman's power which is reflected by Ravenna character. To analyze Ravenna who reflects a strong, raise, and struggle to get higher position the writer use feminism approach. Dialogue and mise-en-scene also helps the writer to analyze Ravenna's act in the film.From the analysis, known that Ravenna reflects woman who is smart, independent, and powerful that is described as a woman who has bad deed and traits. Unfortunately, Ravenna lose from Snow White who represents woman who is dependent on man.The writer wants to give suggestion to the next researcher. The next researcher need to conduct further research on the analysis reveals the important things in it, because this film can still be analyzed using the other theory, such as semiotics. This film will be interesting to analyze the signs and symbols that appeared using semiotics theory. The other possibiltiy for the next researcher is analyze the other character using same theory, feminism
REGISTER USED BY NOL DERAJAT FILM COMMUNITY IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING REFLECTION MOVIE

Certain community uses register for delivering messages between members easily. In this study, the writer investigated the register used in cinematography community come from Universitas Brawijaya named Nol Derajat film when they make Reflection movie. Therefore, this study was conducted to answer the following questions: 1). What are the registers and their meaning used in the process of making Reflection movie by Nol Derajat film community? 2). What are the functional contexts of register found in the process of making Reflection movie by Nol Derajat film community? and 3). What are the factors facilitating the use of the registers?This study used a qualitative approach. The data were utterances which contain register. In collecting the data, the writer used documentation (as the primary instrument) and interview. In data analysis, the writer put the data into a table to define the literal meaning and register meaning. Then, the writer analyze the aspect of functional context which consist of field, mode and tenor using Halliday and Hasan’s (1985) theory and analyzed the factor facilitating the use of register using Yule’s (2006) theory.The result of this study revealed that there were 20 registers used in the process of making movie. They are Action, bocor, camera, choose, clipper, cut, detail, focus, freeze, in-frame, lighting, longshot, noise, reflector, rolling, scene, shot, sound, take, and talent. All those registers have 2 different meanings namely literal meaning and register meaning. The writer found the field and the tenor of all utterances different due to different topic and speaker in each conversation.However, the mode of all utterances is the same that is spoken language. Then, thewriter found the factor facilitating the use of those registers that is the context of the sentence. The context was divided into situational context (shooting location), occupational (among filmmaker), and topical (talking about something importantin making movie).For further study in register, the writer suggests that the next writers who want to conduct a study on register phenomena analyze it in other communities, such as photography community and use different technique, such as key person technique. Lastly, the next writer may apply different theories from other linguistics field in analyzing the finding so the result can be richer and more various. Â
