Full text linkPierre Bourdieu built his theoretical orientation as a solution to what he saw as a false opposition between objectivism and subjectivism; to quote Bourdieu: “absurd opposition between individual and society”. Bourdieu offered a point of view that emphasizes on duality in the relationship between agent and structure, as an alternative to the previously existing dualistic views. Bourdieu refers to his theoretical orientation as genetic structuralism, constructivist structuralism or structuralist constructivism. Through the concept of habitus, field, and capital, Bourdieu integrated objectivism (which emphasizes the role of objective structure in social practice) and subjectivism (which emphasizes the role of agent in social practice). Bourdieu formulated the theory of social practice with the equation (Habitus x Capital) + Field = Practice. Practice, in Bourdieu’s mind, is the product of the relationship between habitus and field, wherein within field itself there are powers at stake, especially between people with capital and people without capital

Full text linkThe aim of this research is to describe the students’ opinion of the website quality as an information media at University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The population of this research consists of 4.260 students of University of Muhammdiyah Sidoarjo. Random proposional technique is used as a technique sampling of this research which takes 97 repondences as the samples. The technique of data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistic. To interpret the data the perception value is also used as the guideline. The results of this research indicate that the use quality and information quality of website as an information media at University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo are less good. The interaction quality of website as an information media at University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo is not good and overall the respondence impression of website at University of Muhamamdiyah Sidoarjo is also not so good

In this film, there is 4 segmens, and in the second segmen has title “Untuk Apa?” raises about female circumcision. In this segmen there are many symbols and signs which has hidden meanings. Semiotic used to reveal that denotation sign of female circumcisionin this film is as an implementation of syari’ah Islam. Connotative sign in this film is female circumcisionas a tradition and culture in society. They believe that female circumcisionis one of legitimate terms for being a Moslem. Myths in this film is an animism culture in society, people’s belief that female circumcisionable to decrease number of cheating in marriage and able to give more satisfy to her partner when doing intimate relationship

Full text linkThis study focuses on the discrimination toward Chinese-Indonesian before the reformation era represented on Babi Buta yang Ingin Terbang (Blind Pigs Who Want to Fly) movie. This study aims to elaborate the types and effects of discrimination which occur toward Chinese-Indonesian based on that movie. It uses qualitative method. Interpretation about social codes based on semiotics is used to strengthen this study. Every scene of the movie which represents discrimination is explained descriptively. The result, there are four main point of types and effects discrimination toward Chinese-Indonesian: labeled as ‘the other’, having low self-esteem, being violence victim, and intimidated from every side

Full text linkThe Problem in this research is how the form of parent’s approach in guiding televisi shows on the elementary school aged children. This research was conducted in Rahandouna Sub district, Poasia District, Kendari. Determination of the location is due to consideration that most parents in Rahandouna have elementary school-aged children who love watching televisi, thus require efficient forms of communication in guiding telvisi shows on the children. This research uses qualitative method with twenty informants. The results showed that the form of the parent’s approach in guiding televisi shows on the elementary school aged children in Rahandouna, Poasia, Kendari consists of interpersonal communication approach which means giving meaning and views by doing direct communication to the children in order to provide better understanding of the positive and negative effects of the televisi shows that can also strengthen the affection between parents and children
MEDIA SOSIAL DAN PENGEMBANGAN HUBUNGAN INTERPERSONAL REMAJA DI SIDOARJO
Full text linkThe purpose of this study is to analyze and explain the use of social media among teenagers, the development of interpersonal relationships, and the influence of social media on the development of adolescent interpersonal relationships in Sidoarjo. This research, which involves a hundred high school students as the respondents, uses explanative approach. Through random sampling of data collection, the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics analyzing techniques and multiple regression. The results showed that the use of social networking sites by teenagers is much motivatedly aimed to 1 ) obtain a variety of information, 2 ) strengthen relationships among users of the site , 3 ) release tension, 4 ) meet emotional needs , and 5 ) improve self-confidence. The development of relationship made by teenagers is dominantly aimed to search identity information, ideas or thoughts, as well as the address of the user account. The level of development of interpersonal relationships ( friendships ) through social networking is at 68.7 %. The use of social networking sites which affect the development of adolescent interpersonal relationships in Sidoarjo is at 43.4 %

No full textThe study, entitled "The Effect of Community Relations conducted by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia toward Tenggulunan community’s Understanding on Industrial Waste Management" aims to determine the effect of community relations conducted by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia toward the Understanding of people living in the vicinity of the company on industrial waste generated. This quantitative study used a sample of 95 respondents. The research data were then analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results show that 1) the community relations was done well enough by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia (67.3%), 2) the public's understanding on industrial waste of PT Ecco Indonesia is also quite good (68.8%), 3) there is an effect of community relations of management of PT Ecco Indonesia toward the understanding of people living in Tenggulunan on industrial waste management, 4) the accepted hypothesis shows that that there is a significant relationship between community relations done by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia with public awareness about waste management industry amounted to 81,5%
