    The Analysis of Bandung University Students' Ability in Identifying Hoaxes

    Technological sophistication makes all forms of information available through social media. Information on social media can be uploaded by anyone who owns an account on the social media. This makes many individuals who falsify information for personal or group interests. This study aims to find out whether Bandung Raya students who live in urban areas and are accustomed to accessing social media are able to assess whether the content or articles they see are hoaxes or not. This study uses descriptive quantitative methods by conducting surveys through distributing questionnaires and collecting answers from respondents, namely Bandung Raya students. Data collection was carried out in this study using a questionnaire distributed via google form to 100 samples of students studying in the Bandung Raya area. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out on the five indicators to identify hoaxes, the total score of the 22 questions asked is 6,685 and a percentage of 75.96% which is then entered into the continuum line so that it falls into the "High" category. . Then it can be seen that the respondents were declared capable of assessing or identifying hoaxes through the five indicators used in this study. Bandung Raya students already have the intellectual ability to digital media literacy so that they are able to identify the information obtained

    Framing Analysis of Typo News Reports on Job Creation Through Online News Media

    The ratification of the Job Creation Law in early November 2020 created a lot of polemics in the society, this leads the news in the online media to have their own views in reviewing typos related to the content in the Job Creation Act. This study aims to unravel the results of media framing from a certain topic by reviewing news coverage by two different online news channels in the same upload period on November 3rd, 2020. The news reconstruction of journalists' points of view creates a gap between empirical truth and public awareness so readers can follow the media thought. The framing analysis was carried out on two news channels, namely CNBC Indonesia and Nasional Tempo, which reported typos in the writing of the Job Creation Law from a different point of view. The method used in this study is from Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki framing analysis model using four structures, namely Syntax, Script, Thematic, and Rhetorical. The results of this study indicate that media coverage of CNBC Indonesia tends to be in line with the government, while the Tempo National media constructs news coverage with a more critical tone. Additionally, other factors in the form of ownership and interests could also affect news framing. This is based on the fact that there is a trend of media conglomeration in Indonesia which can have certain implications for the news content

Yotube itself is about entertainment, Video clips, or Vlog (Video Blog) where the vlogs can contain about private vacation videos, promote goods or products, or daily activities in this research using video blogs From Tasya Farasya entitled "Focallure One Brand Makeup Tutorial!!". The purpose of this research is to find out how the perception of Make up artist (MUA) is a product review through beauty vlogger on Youtube. This research uses qualitative descriptive research method with in-depth interview techniques and participants in this study as many as 5 people in the Make up artist (MUA). The results of this research show that the informant budgeted that the video blog of Tasya Farasya which contained about the product review is beneficial and very helpful in product selection

    This study aims to determine the motives of vlog audience "beti family". This study uses in-depth interviews, and documentation. Measurement of motifs in this study uses McQuail's motive theory, namely: information motives, personal identity motives, social interaction motives, and entertainment motives. The Uses and Gratification Theory assumes that media is not all powerful, which has a high power, that is to its users. Media users have the choice of consuming media to satisfy their needs. The "Beti Family" vlog Arif Muhammad's youtube channel is the research subject chosen by the researcher. This is because one of the drama vlogs on YouTube is the most popular community and is often included in YouTube's tranding column. The results that can be dominant in the motives of social interaction and entertainment motives.     Chinese Bonek: Reject Racism Through Symbolic Communication

    This research starts from the phenomenon of the existence of Chinese Bonek (support- ers of the Persebaya Surabaya club who are of Chinese ethnicity) in the city of Surabaya. Although a minority in numbers (compared to Bonek ethnic or Javanese), the existence of Bonek Tionghoa began to be recognized among Bonek. Moreover, they also rou- tinely physically present at the stadium every time Persebaya competed. This study aims to unravel the experiences of the Chinese Bonek in supporting Persebaya, as well as understanding how they interpret that support. That experience is seen through verbal and non-verbal communication that they do, which of course implicitly has its own mean- ing and message. This research uses a qualitative approach, descriptive type, and uses the phenomenological method. Data obtained from in-depth interviews, supported by observation on the field (especially when Persebaya competed in the stadium). The find- ings of this research data show, Chinese Bonek apparently means that their support is not only as support for their favorite football club, but also as an expression of rejection of racism and discrimination that they often experience, both in daily life and in the context of the interaction of fellow supporters. The support is done through verbal communication such as singing (chant) and status or posting on social media, and through non-verbal communication such as direct attendance at the stadium, wearing a Persebaya jersey / costume, and certain gestures

    The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of netizens towards hashtag 2019GantiPresiden on the Twitter. This type of research is descriptive quantitative approach, with survey methods. The variable studied is a single variable. The respondens in this study were all Following Twitter accounts @resitashabrina which were actively participated by 54 people who used the #2019GantiPresiden. The data analysis technique used in this study uses descriptive analysis through a quantitative approach using frequency distribution assistance to determine the results of the study. Based on the results of research conducted on 54 respondents, namely netizens from all @resitashabrina following accounts about netizens 'perceptions on the Twitter page it can be concluded that netizens' perceptions are seen from stimuli (messages, hashtag knowledge), organisms (understanding, attention, acceptance of Tagar) and response (hashtag effect) on the Twitter page is still quite doubtful, in this case it is said to have not been effective among netizens, especially the following account @resitashabrina as a microblog media with the distribution of scores from each indicator namely the First Stimulus indicator with an overall score of 80.6, Second Organism with an overall score of 68.41 and Third Response with an overall score of 58.3. Other than doubtful assessment is still a large score considering that some answers were written by some respondents with a score distribution of 30.9. So that the netizens' perception of #2019GantiPresiden is still known and conveyed, and still gets the attention of netizens

    Communication of Caregivers and Santri at Islamic Boarding Schools in a Gender Perspective

    This strudy aim is to describe how the interaction between caregivers and students, both men and women, in Islamic boarding schools, as religious-based educational institutions. The location of the study is Bustanul Ulum Islamic boarding schools, Sawaran Kulon, Kedungjajang, Lumajang. This study uses qualitative method, through the phenomenological approach, which is introduced by Lanigan. Lanigan argued, the communication process has a correlation with the residence of communicator and the communicant. In the context of this study, the residence is the Islamic boarding school, while communicators and communicants are caregivers and students. Sources of research data obtained through observing and interviewing, and reading literature regarding the research topic. Observations carried out for ten days (March 15, 2020 until March 25, 2020). Interviews are conducted with caregivers and students. The results are, first; communication between caregivers and students in Bustanul Ulum Islamic boarding schools runs both verbally and non-verbally. In general, caregivers play a more communicator role, and santri become communicants. Second; communication carried out across gender. Only indeed, interactions and communication between Kiai and female santri are not as close and frequent as interactions and communication between Kiai and male santri. Likewise, interactions and communication between Nyai and male santri are not as close and frequent as Nyai and female santri interactions and communication. Because in the curriculum or rules that have been set, the who focuses of intensive teaching of male students, is the Kiai. While the one who focuses intensively in teaching female students, is Nyai

    From the emergencies of COVID-19, the government made a policy of learning from home including lectures. But in its procurement, online lectures have many notes, especially from students as one of the online lecturers part. This study aims to determine the perceptions of students in Surabaya about online lectures when the COVID-19 pandemic. The Surabaya study is a research location because Surabaya is the second largest city after Jakarta which has the highest COVID-19 case in East Java Province. Researchers use the theory of Kenneth K. , Edward M. , Judy C. Pearson and Paul E. Nelson in (2008) about the stages of the process of perception, namely stimulation (sensation), attention, and interpretation. The method used is qualitative. The informants in this study were active students at the 10 best universities in East Java according to . In addition to using interview techniques, researchers also made observations on the 10 university's official social media accounts. As a result, students in Surabaya perceived that online lectures during a pandemic were good enough to reduce the spread of the corona virus. But in its implementation, students feel less satisfied with several aspects, one of which is the online learning support facilities provided by the campus such as the internet quota, even though the intensity of the assignments is greater than face-to-face lectures

    This study aims to know how is the effect of interpersonal communication Madurese traders to the cultural acculturation and work ethic of local communities at Pasar Larangan Sidoarjo. The method used in this study is quantitative. The data collection used are questioner presented to 97 respondents who was local communities and Madurese traders at Pasar Larangan Sidoarjo, with simple random sampling technique. The data analysis used is simple linear regression. The result of this study is variable of interpersonal communication has an effect to the cultural acculturation and work ethic. Cultural acculturation has been proved by there is tolerance, the same shoes in economic, the feeling of sympathize to the other culture, the marriage between Madurese and Javanese and an intense interaction among communities. Meanwhile work ethic has been proved by four aspects as follows, time responsibility, toughand never give up, the feeling of being independently and also easy to adaptable
