    Cervical cancer still become the first killer for women in growth countries, include Indonesia. The prevalence of cervical cancer in growth countries reached 77%. One of the risk factor  entrenched in modern women, is douching. The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of douching to cervical cancer incidence in dr. Soebandi regional hospital in Jember. This is an observational analitical research that use case-control approach. The statistical test used in this research was logistic regression with 5% significance level. There was significant effect of douching toward cervical cancer incidence, which the risk factor of a woman with douching to have cervical cancer four times greater than a woman who didn’t do douching.   Key words: douching, cervical cance

    The premature delivery is one of the main risk factors of low birth weight and perinatal mortality. In Indonesia, the incidence of premature delivery is 10% whereas it is just 4% in the developed countries. The mortality rate caused by low birth weight is increasing from 6.8 per 1000 in 2001 to 7 per 1000 in a year period.  Nowadays, the effort to reduce the perinatal mortality rate is still counting on neonatal intensive care which has highly cost. The aim of this study is to know profoundly about the attributes of premature deliveries at RSUD Dr Soebandi Jember between January 1st , 2003 and December 31st, 2005. The data were mainly obtained from the medical records of obstetry and ginaecology ward and 168 premature deliveries were included in this study. The result showed that among 168 premature deliveries, 75% of deliveries was conducted on indication. Factors that induced premature deliveries are placental dislocation, gestational hipertention, sistemic disturbance, pelvic head disproportion, and gemelli. The premature deliveries on gestational age were G1 / primigravida (43%), G2 (30%), G3 (11%), G4 (8%) and G5 or more (9%). The highest frequency of premature deliveries was on 20 - 35 year old women (70%). The most APGAR score of premature deliveries was 0 -3 (severe respiratory distress). Finally, the premature deliveries tend to be commonplace at woman with primigravida, 20-35 year old women and the outcome of them is generally worse to the baby.     Oral health among elderly people needs a specially attention because it will affect their general health. A good knowledge of oral hygiene is essential to prevent oral disease. Therefor maintenance of oral hygiene was the best way to maintain the health condition of the elderly people. The purpose of this research was to determine the correlation between oral health knowledge of elderly people with oral health status in the working area ofPuskesmas Kalisat Jember. This study was observasional research on 80 elderly people aged 50-70 years old who came to 12 elderly posyandu of Puskesmas Kalisat Jember. Data were collected by structured questionnaires about oral health knowledge and clinical examination to determine oral hygiene status based on Oral Hygiene Index-simplified (OHIS). Pearson correlation was used for statistical analysis. Most of participant demontratedoral health knowledge score as sufficient category (52,5%) and the oral hygiene status was moderate (57,5%). The correlation between the level of oral health knowledge with OHI-S index was significant (p< 0,05).     According to international demographic data from the Bureau of the Census, USA in 1993, the increase in the number of elderly Indonesia between the years 1990 to 2025 reached 414%, the highest in the world. The rapid increase was related to the life expectancy of the population of Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the various factors of healthy practices in influencing mental health in the elderly and examines the factors which contributed to the biggest and the smallest to the mental health of the elderly in Lumajang. This study uses analytic research with quantitative approach. The samples in this study using a multistage random sampling technique, carried out in urban, sub-urban and rural with a sample of 378 respondents. Location by dividing into three areas, namely urban (sub-district Puskesmas Labruk-Lumajang,) sub urban (sub-district Puskesmas Tekung-Tekung) and rural (Puskesmas Padang-Padang District). Data collection using structured interviews, and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis. All variables affect the healthy practice of mental health in the elderly significantly (p <α). The highest contributor indetermining the healthy mental aspect is able to solve complex problemswhile the lowest contributors are recreation periodically.     Andropause is a group of symptoms and complaints of men as a result of the reduction in the testosterone level. Andropause occurs on men over their middle age and the symptoms, signs and complaints are similar to women’s menopause. A good family social support can be reduced  stress levels. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between family social support and the stress levels in andropausal elderly at Gebang in Patrang Health Center. The study was a survey analytical research with cross sectional approach. Method of collecting sample is purposive sampling with 88 andropausal elderly aged over sixty years. Data were analyzed by chi-square test. Based on statistical test’s result the value p is 0.000 with a significance level (alpha) of 0.05. This the p value is lower than the significant level (p less than alpha) which means that there is a correlation between family social support and the stress levels in andropausal elderly at Patrang Health Center, Jember. The recommendation of this study is to improve elderly knowledge regarding andropause and to implicate family members during examining elderly regarding andropause.     ANALISIS DAN PERANCANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI POSYANDU UNTUK MENDUKUNG SURVEILANS BERBASIS MASYARAKAT

    One of the Alert Village activities is implementation of surveillance based on community namely surveillance of maternal and child health through activities which are conducted at the Integrated Health Services.  Surveillance activities are conducted by a cadre who records and reports using information system of the integrated health services. The resulted information is weight,  child’s nutritional status, immunization, risk level of pregnant women, immunization of Tetanus Toxoid, list of mothers and children who are either life or lifeless, and presence of health workers during providing services. Based on the previous study, resulted information was difficult to re-access and had not resulted the complete, accurate, and clear information. The objective of this research was to analyze and design of the integrated health services information system for supporting surveillance of maternal and child health based on community at the alert village. Design of this research was qualitative. Development of the system was based on the steps of FAST (Framework for the Application of Systems Thinking). Subjects consisted of both the end users (cadres of the integrated health services, Work Group IV of Family Welfare Education, midwives, and nutritional health workers at Health Centers) and the supporting end users (Head of Village and Chairman of the Alert Village). Data were analyzed using a content analysis (for the qualitative data).     Air Polution problem has became public health problems, especially in industrial countries where there are a lot of numbers of factories and motorcycles. Air pollution resulted from the motorcycle has a great impact for the police officers who work in those risky, dense and vital town street of accidents. Their job is a risky job for the effects of both acute and chronic air pollution symptoms.This research aims to identify the symptoms of respiratory tract disorders which affect the police officers in Jember.This research uses a descriptive method. The populations include all 137 police officers. The sample of the research is 34 respondents that is collected through quota sampling technic. The data is taken using a questioner from 6 to 10 June 2008.The result of the research shows that the acute symptom happens in 28 respondent (82, 4%), the chronic symptoms are experienced by 5 respondents (14, 7%), and the respondent who shows no symptoms is 1 responden (2,9%).Based on the finding, the researcher suggests that the police officers should aware of the importance of masker application in doing their job.   Keywords : Respiratory tract disorder, Police Office

    BESAR RISIKO KEJADIAN INFEKSI TB ANAK SD MENURUT KONTAK PENDERITA TB DAN KARAKTERISTIK ORANG TUA DI KABUPATEN JEMBER

    With the detection of tuberculosis (TB) infection in children means that there are transmitting infection by the lung TB carrier with positive AFB sputum. The transmission more frequently occurred in one roof close contact. The objective of this study is to know the odds ratio of TB infection in primary school student according to TB patient contact and parents characteristics. This study was perfomed from January to Juny 2008 using case control study design. The cases group consisting of 17 children were TB infected and the control group consisting of 51 children weren’t TB infected. The analysis showed that children who had contact with TB patient were 56.25 times (95% CI with OR 6.254-505.962), who had contact chronic coughs patient were 14.22 times (95% CI with OR 3.155-64.112,) who had mother work were 6.5 times (95%CI 1.838-22.981) and who had low parents earning were 7.8 times (95%CI 2.285-26.622) more likely to have TB infected. Considering that contact TB patient and parents characteristics are risk factors for TB unfection. Early  diagnosis prompt treatment for contact, and working mother must give deeper attention takes care of child TB infection.     Clean and healthy behaviors which in Indonesia called PHBS is a embodiment of healthy paradigm on individual culture. This study aims to analyze the clean and healthy behaviors of Osing society in Kemiren village, Glagah distict, Banyuwangi. This study was an observational study which conducted in June-December 2013. The population of this study were all of families in Kemiren village, as many as 754 families. The sample of this study were 100 respondent which taken using simple random sampling methods. The analysis of the data using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the amount of respondents were men, more than 50 years old, had low level of education (elementary school) and had profesion as farmers.The behaviors of healthy latrines use is 54%, less healthy latrines use is 37%, and bad healthy latrines use is 9%. The behaviors of clean water use is 94% and not clean water use is 6%. The behaviors of respondent on using trash is 37% and not using trash is 63%. The behaviors of less healthy latrines use and the lack of using trash caused by the lack of respondents awareness on clean and healthy behaviors (PHBS).
