Malaria is a global health issue and a serious problem since the beginning of the discovery until present. One of the region's still high endemicity of malaria is Asia Pacific. According to WHO, in this region occurred 25 million cases and 50,000 deaths per year. One of the countries in this region are quite high malaria endemicity is Indonesia, which occurred 40,000 cases per year. As for regions in Indonesia are still malaria is endemic cover Papua, Maluku, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and several smaller islands. Even though, the government has organized various programs in order to control the spread of malaria, such as malaria eradication, malaria control and elimination of malaria. The low ranking of knowledge, attitudes and practices of communities to control malaria on suspected as government less effective so that the large programs that has developed the cause. This is true because the program execution system dominated government closed the public opportunity to participate in the program, so that at the same time the knowledge, attitudes and deeds cannot develop properly. As this situation has the potential to be a challenge for the government in an effort to create control program that integrated and comprehensive in the future. This research aims to know the relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice of people with malaria events. This study also used a quantitative approach to analyze a cross sectional study the results of the interview with selected respondents, namely 86 families residing in the area of research. The results show that there is a relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice with the incidence of malaria in the sub district of West Walenrang, districts of Luwu, Province of South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The incidence of malaria including weak category as for the strength of relationship between knowledge, attitude and practices. Based on these results, it is suggested to the government would give adequate attention to the improvement of knowledge, attitudes and practices of the community in malaria control program. Level of knowledge, attitudes and practices of community that adequate can be a modal to save the sustainable program of malaria control program conducted. On the other side, this approach can also be a smart solution on limited of the government in controlling the spread of malaria, both human and budget resources

An Experimental Investigation on the Effects of Forming Temperature and Sintering Schedule to the Final Characteristics of Fe92Cu7.5Al0.5 Powder Compacts

    Get PDF
This paper presents the development of FeCuAl powder compacts through warm compaction process. A lab-scale uni-axial die compaction rig was designed and fabricated which enabled the powder forming at elevated temperature. Iron powder ASC 100.29 was mechanically mixed with other elemental powders, i.e., copper (Cu), and aluminium (Al) for 30 minutes at a rotation of 30 rpm. Green compacts were then generated by forming the prepared feedstock at 30ºC (room temperature), 150ºC, and 200ºC through simultaneous upward and downward axial loadings of 325 MPa. The defect-free green compacts were subsequently sintered in argon gas fired furnace at 800ºC for three different holding times, i.e., 30, 60, and 90 minutes at three different rates, i.e., 5, 10, and 15ºC/min. The final products were characterized for their physical, electrical, and mechanical properties and their microstructures were evaluated. The results revealed that the suitable forming temperature is 150ºC, holding time is 30 minute, and sintering rate is 10ºC/min

    Get PDF
The unique characteristic of the banking system in Indonesia is the existence of a community development bank (CDB), which is owned by the local government. This study tested the efficiency of costs against other types of banks, namely private bank and Government-owned banks. The sample of the study consisted of 15 community development banks, 56 private banks, and 3 Government bank from 1995 until 2006. Using the methodology of panel data, we find that the efficiency community development banks are at least as good as other types of banks. There are two explanations of this finding is, first, the CDB received high deposits from local government , the second, the CDB doesn’t need to pay interest to the Government of the region. Third, the staffs of the community development banks accept smaller salaries than private banks. To our knowledge, this is the first study that looks at the cost-efficiency of community development banks as compared to other types of banks of banks in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the average efficiency cost of the bank the Government is higher than for CDB and private banks. Banks that has the equity number of over IDR 100 billion was more efficient than the bank had a total equity of less than IDR 100 billion

    Get PDF
Rapid growth and innovation of the technologies is having a very large and burgeoning impact on people’s lives – from the way they share as well as the way they learn. Launched in 2004, Facebook is one of the social networking sites (SNS) that has become a centre of social interaction that involves various dynamics inside its communities including higher education institutions. With its daily active user are reported to be 1.038 billion and available in more than 70 languages, these are the clear evidence that indicates Facebook popularity and among the predictors for Facebook user to use it as they find it cool and fun. University students are driven to Facebook not only to maintain existing social relationships but also for learning purposes. As most of the research has been carried out looking at the motives for Facebook usage, what are the factors that help them to determine to whom they should seek for social support are remain unclear. However, some researchers suggest that social support can gained from the closest and the most credible. Credibility has been revealed to closely related with individual social status and perceived to be one of the factors contributing to popularity. Does lecturer’s popularity making them a credible option for the students to seek for social support? Is number of friends and with whom the lecturers befriended with are among one of the criteria that the students would look for while seeking for social support? Using questionnaire survey distributed among students in University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), we hope that this research will be useful to educational practitioners in understanding of what, who, when, where, why and how their students use of Facebook and effectively help them to adjust themselves in parallel with the need to increase the learning opportunities

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to highlight whether there is a need for separate accounting for Islamic banks, focusing on Murabahah arrangement. This paper is based on library research, content analysis, and interview, whereby, the recent annual reports for Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (BMMB) and Al Baraka Banking Group (ABG) are evaluated. The paper discourses the concept of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) standards, worldviews of IFRS principles, and Shari’ah issues in adopting IFRS for Islamic financial transactions. This research finds that IFRS tends to deviate what is ought to be the financial reporting practices for Murabahah facility as a sale-based trading contract. Hence, the standards set by IFRS for financial institutions cannot accommodate some of the distinctive nature, transactions, and practices of Islamic banks, which Murabahah is one. This paper adds to the global response to the need for separate accounting standards for Islamic Financial Institutions. Nevertheless, the paper is only focusing on Murabahah contract, thus, hindering the ability to provide the broader scope for the recommendation. This study suggests both exclusivity approach of financial reporting for the long-run, and practically harmonization approach for the mean time should be adopted in addressing the need for separate accounting standards for Islamic banks

The Use of Lightning Data for Convective Rainfall Estimation

    Get PDF
The objective of this study is to analyse electrification processes in the convective clouds. The intensity of lightning could characterized by three stages of thunderstorm’s life i.e. cumulus, mature and dissipation. First analysis focused on the relationships between lightning and rainfall. To accomplish this goal, a Storm Tracker Lightning Detector was used in the study area for detecting cloud-to-ground lightning (CG). The lag-time between the peak of CG lightning and the peak of rainfall are also being our focus. The results show that surface rainfall tends to follow the lightning (positive lag-time) ±15 minutes after the peak of CG lightning. The index of lightning (L-Index) created to analyse the possibility of heavy rainfall/extreme (>50 mm/day) in 15 minutes ahead, by considering the rainfall categories and normalization of data (from 0 to 1). L-Index of 0 - 0.5 indicating potentially occurs of slight rainfall to moderate rainfall with the intensity of 5-10 mm/hours; and L-Index >0.5 potentially occurs heavy rainfall to extreme rainfall with the intensity > 10 mm/hours
