Discussing the global and local challenges of Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia is an interesting topic and important discussion. Indonesia is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world. As we know in terms of quantity, Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia is also in a large number. In quality, indeed, it always progresses until now and next. However, it should be realized that Islamic education in Indonesia also has local and global challenges that need to be considered for existence, contribution and prospect of Islamic education in the country. Therefore, this article focuses on the following key questions: How the global challenges of Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia? How the local challenges of Islamic education in Indonesia? How are the state and civil society's response to the global and local challenges of Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia? The paper was written using qualitative data which is based on references and books, news, journals and opinions in the media and other sources that are relevant to the study of Islamic education in Indonesia. The results showed that: first, the global challenge of Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia such as globalization that impact on Islamic education. The era of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is a new face of competition that needs to be addressed by emphasizing the quality of the process output/outcome in education services. Second, the local challenges of Islamic education, including the politicization of Islamic education that need to watch together, corruption and poverty, until terrorism and radicalism. Third, the response of the state and civil society on the global and local challenges of Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia could be said to be better than before. This is evident from a number of efforts undertaken by government institutions and the community in providing the best solutions to face all challenges of it's from internal and external for the better this nation

Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) has an important function in folic analogues biosynthesis which is used as nutrition for cells. In a specific cancer cell, DHFR has bigger expression than normal cells therefore it is good candidates as target to cancer chemotherap. In this research the screening have been done to 10-N-(4’-bromobenzoyl) folic acid and 10-N-(p-toluoyl) folic acid by in silico method. The result of molecular docking shows that those two compounds have more stable interaction than other DHFR inhibitors (methotrexate) but those two compound do not follow the Lipinsky’s rule of 5 which is affected to its bioavailability

The dynamics of the authoritarian orders of life to the democratic life at least cause a variety of new social problems such as instability in politics, socials, economics, and law and the most important thing is the instability of value. The rapidly changing dynamics of life will cause the new problem in the order of social life it is balanced character education in the society. The lack of control by the state as law enforcement and community justice can eventually erode the public trust in state administrators. The new social problems are the loss of the value of social life in a transitional society that need to be taken seriously through the state- characterized education as follows: (1) the waning of value in social life and citizenship (2) the degradation of value of tolerance in society (3) the waning of values of honesty, and a sense of mutual help (4) the weakening of values in the family (5) the practice of corruption, collusion and nepotism in the governance (6) the damage in the system and economic life (7) the violation of the nationality values. During this time, informal education, especially in the family environment has not significantly contributed in supporting the achievement of competence and character formation of the students. The relatively high bustle and working activity of parents, the lack of understanding of the parents in educating children in the family environment, the influence of the association in the neighbourhood, and the influence of the electronic media are considered to be able to give negative effect to progress and achievement of the students' learning outcomes. One of the alternatives to overcome these problems is through the integrated character education, namely to integrated and optimize the activities of informal education in the family environment with formal education at school. An important agenda that needs attention to overcome this problem is how to build the characteristics of nation based on the local potential and excellence through education. The second is the last bastion of civilization guard when all educational institutions are not able to function optimally

The Formulation of Pineapple Liquid Waste (PLW) as Liquid Organic Fertilizer for Agricultural Crops

    Get PDF
Pineapple Liquid Waste (PLW) is acidic, high in organic content and has not fulfilled the minimum threshold so needs bioremediation, an environmentally sound of waste management. Therefore, through this research, it is important to determine the formula of indigene bacteria consortia which able to degrade the PLW before applying in agriculture. This research is conducted in two steps: 1) isolation and identification of indigene bacteria and examination of their remediation capability; 2) formulating the potential consortial and applying the degraded PLW into plants (orchid and pineapple). This research has found 15 isolates of indigene bacteria in PLW. Whole isolates are able to live in pH 2 and 4. They also have varied ability in hydrolysing the amylum and protein. Thus, those 15 isolates are formulated in several ways to degrade the PLW. The formulas are: 1) Consortia A (CA) consists of isolates 1-5; 2) Consortia B (CB) consists of isolates 1-10; 3) Consortia C (CC) consists of isolates 1-15. It is revealed that CA is able to degrade the organic matters, meanwhile, CB can degrade the acidic organic matter so raise the pH and CC is able to do the both. The pilot plan has shown that CB is potentially better than other consortia in neutralizing the pH and degrading organic matters. In results, the addition of CB produces a promising liquid organic fertilizer that contains decent elements for Storer method agriculture. The liquid organic fertilizer then is applied into pineapple and orchid cultivation, which results in the significant growth of both plants

This paper describes the relationship between the environmental campaign and people awareness, especially Bandung citizens to maintain the cleanliness of the environment and do the waste reduction program. Various attempts were made by local governments in Indonesia to build public awareness in creating a green and clean city, including supporting social movements and community participation for doing the environmental program. We can find many environmental volunteers in Bandung that trying to create environmental awareness. A social movement has been made some massive campaign on environmental programs through the mass media and various activities which indirectly have a positive effect on public awareness and waste management system. The objective of this study was to analyse the perception and public response to the environmental education campaign and how are the effective strategies for implementing the campaign together with all of the stakeholders to be able to walk properly and sustained. This study was conducted using descriptive and inferential analysis based on a literature study, field observations and in-depth interviews with community leaders and the government. The result shows that community participation components (knowledge and perception) are contributing significantly to community participation for maintaining cleanliness and reduce waste because of statistical analysis that has a p-value of 0.000 at a significance level of 5%. Approximately 26.4% of public participation can be explained by the knowledge and perception of the community in environmental education campaig

Education is an important aspect in the life of a country. It is so crucial that people even see it as a benchmark to measure the development of a country. Basically, education helps people to develop themselves in accordance with their nature, to choose the right direction in line with their potential, and to bring a diverse development towards the same goal as the human nature to become a whole person. To make real those functions of education, we need a system of education service in the education unit which relies not only on service-learning subjects/fields of study, but also on the special services which characterize psycho-education, i.e. service of guidance and counselling. The provision of guidance and counselling service cannot be separated from various factors. One of them is environment. Therefore, the provision of guidance and counselling service are different between one place to another place. It is influenced by several factors such as socio-cultural, environment, history, and so on. This article presents a comparison guidance and counselling between Indonesia and Malaysia, provides the history and development of guidance and counselling, issues and trends of guidance and counselling, guidance and counselling models, and the implementation of guidance and counselling models between both of the countries

    Get PDF
Many political experts claim that the purpose of democracy is to provide welfare to its citizens. The link between democracy and prosperity has long been contested among scholars of political science and economics, including with what is happening in Indonesia as the third largest democracy in the world. Therefore, it becomes extremely relevant to think about the diversity of democratic gains in Indonesia from time to time, and to be associated with the impact of democracy on welfare in the form of an increase in the human development index (HDI). This article attempts to analyse the impact of democracy on welfare specifically on human development index in Indonesia during the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Administration (Reform Era). An important issue to be investigated in this research is to describe and analyse the factors the enactment of democracy, as well as its impact on welfare in Indonesia, and search for the factors that cause the failure of democracy and economic development in Indonesia, especially those related to the low human development index in Indonesia. Through qualitative research methods, it was found that the higher the index of democracy, the more probability that the level of welfare with HDI output also increased as well. Since the reform era, Indonesia has shown success in the development of democracy in the political field, followed by the performance of the economic and social field. The study also supports the general statement that democracy does give effect to the improved welfare
