    PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN KULIT SALAK TERHADAP PEMBUATAN BRIKET ARANG DARI CANGKANG BIJI KARET(Hevea brazilliensis Muell Arg.)

    Briket adalah bahan bakar padat yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber energi alternatif yang mempunyai bentuk tertentu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatahui pengaruh penambahan kulit salak terhadap briket cangkang biji karet.Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan dua (2) ulangan. Faktor I adalah Penambahan Kulit Salak(S) yang terdiri dari empat taraf, yaitu :S1 = 0 %, S2 = 10 %, S3 = 20 %, S4 = 30 %, dan. Faktor II adalah Lama Pengeringan (L) yang terdiri dari empat taraf, yaitu: L1 = 1jam, L2 = 2jam, L3 = 3 jam, L4 = 4 jam. Parameter pengamatan pada penelitian ini terdiri dari kadar air, nilai kalor, dan kuat tekan. Penambahan kulit salak memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata (p0,01) terhadap nilai kalor dan kuat tekan. Lama pengeringan memberikan pengaruh berbeda sangat nyata (p0,01) terhadap nilai kalor, kadar air dan kuat tekan. Berdasarkan penelitian nilai kalor terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan S4L4 yaitu 5122.755 kal/g, kadar air S1L3 yaitu 36,6 % dan kuat tekan yaitu S4L4 yaitu 5,32 kg/cm2.89Kata Kunci : Briket, Cangkang biji karet, Kulit sala

    ASSESSMENT OF THE QUALITY OF CRUDE PALM OIL FROM ELAEIS GUINEENSIS GROWING AREAS OF THE PT. LANGKAT NUSANTARA KEPONG-PTPN II NORTH SUMATERA

    Palm oil is one of the major fats and oils produced in Indonesia, which is of great value in the diet of many people. The quality of palm oil could be affected by various factors ranging from improper postharvest handling, processing and storage. Recently, there has been wide spread speculation that palm oil is adulterated in order to maximize profit (Madubuike et al., 2015). The quality parameters of palm oil are generally determined by the moisture content, impurity, specific gravity, percentage of free fatty acid (FFA), iodine value, peroxide value and saponification values. The objective of this research therefore was to evaluate the quality of palm oil samples obtained from elaeis guineensis growing areas of the PT. Langkat Nusantara Kepong-PTPN II North Sumatera. The results showed that mean value of the quality parameters are 0.15% moisture content; 5.71% impurity level; 0.935 specific gravity;8.43% FFA; 52.13 iodine value; 13.71meq/kg peroxide value; and 181,89 mg KOH/g saponification value.     SIGNIFIKANSI SKENARIO PEMBANGUNAN CHECK DAM DALAM MENAHAN LAJU SEDIMENTASI DI WADUK SEMPOR

    Beberapa waduk di Indonesia sampai saat ini ada dalam kondisi kritis, salah satunya adalah Waduk Sempor. Berdasarkan data pengukuran sedimentasi Waduk Sempor tahun 1994, penurunan volume tampungan total Waduk Sempor akibat sedimentasi sebesar 12,04 juta m3 dalam kurun waktu 16 tahun (1978-1994) atau 752.500 m3/tahun. Kondisi ini berdampak buruk bagi semua pihak, diantaranya adalah peningkatan resiko terjadinya banjir, penurunan luas lahan irigasi dan bahkan dapat mengganggu jalannya operasi listrik tenaga air. Laju sedimentasi yang tinggi ini diharapkan dapat ditekan dengan adanya pembangunan check dam di sungai Sampang dan Kedungwringin yang bermuara ke waduk. Perhitungan signifikansi untuk melihat seberapa besar pengaruh check dam yang nantinya dibangun dalam menekan laju sedimentasi dihitung menggunakan persamaan regresi yang merupakan hubungan antara debit sungai dengan debit sedimen dan persamaan Meyer-Peter and Mullers. Analisa data menggunakan program Microsoft Excel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan skenario check dam di sungai ordo dua dan ordo tiga masing-masing dapat mengurangi laju sedimentasi sebesar 19.587,04 m3/tahun dan 60.319,79 m3/tahun (9,6% dan 29,6% dari potensi sedimen yang mengalir). Dari hasil yang diperoleh dapat disimpulkan bahwa laju sedimentasi setelah adanya simulasi masih jauh dari batas toleransi sebesar 12.878 m3/tahun.Kata Kunci : Sedimentasi, Check Dam, Wadu

    ANALYSIS OF CONSUMER PERCEPTIONS AND WILLINGNESS TO PAY AGAINST LOCAL AND IMPORT FRUITS IN MEDAN CASE STUDY ORANGE AND APPLE

    This study was aim to to analyze Consumer perception in Medan against local and import fruits as well as any factors affecting consumer products to purchase local and import fruits. Some 350 respondents were interviewed using a questionnaire. The data is obtained has been analyzed using descriptive analysis, perception analysis, factor analysis and test data quality. The descriptive analysis shows that the majority of respondents were aged 17-24 years, male 72,9%, college students and recent high school education 93,4 %. In the analysis of the perception there are 350 respondents who answered the questionnaire returns and then there were 263 respondents to know when to ask Do you know about the local fruits on the market, while 87 respondents have heard and know little. Ther are 350 respondents who answered the questionnaire returns and there were 186 respondents who answered knew when asked Do you know about fruit imports in the market. The remaining 162 respondents had heard of but knew little and 2 respondents claimed not to know. For the factor analysis KMO test value obtained for 0.746 (great for the meticulous sampling), commonality 0.384 to 0.770 and total variance is 46,986 percent. In the quality test data on the reliability of the test can be of value for Cronbach's Alpha based on standardized items 0.782 is greater than the basic standard Cronbach's Alpha 0.756 which can be deduced that the grains realibel questions.Keywords: Perception, Local, Import, Fruit, Meda

    EFFECTS OF PLANT MEDIA AND FERTILIZING OF UREA FERTILIZERS ON RESULTS OF SELADA PLANTS (Lactuca sativa L.)

    The result of this research is to know the influence of planting media and provision of urea fertilizer on the result of lettuce plant. The hypothesis of planting media significantly affect toward the result of lettuce plant, the urea fertilizer significantly affected toward the result of lettuce plant, and there is a real interaction between the planting media and Urea toward the result of lettuce plant. The benefits of this research is to get a combination of treatment between the planting media and fertilizer dosage of Urea the best toward the result of lettuce plant. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Syiah Kuala in Banda Aceh, which took place from May to August 2016. The research was conducted by using a randomized block design (RAK) factorial pattern that consists of two factors: the planting media and fertilizer dosage of Urea. The treatment of the planting media consisted of four levels, namely: Factor of the planting media (comparison with soil based on the volume that is 3: 1) M1 = Soil, M2= Soil and chaff , M3 = Soil and sawdust M4= Soil and manure. Factor of Urea fertilizer that is N0= without urea fertilizer N1= 100 kg Urea/ha, N2= 200 kg Urea/ha, N3= 300 kg Urea/ha. From these two factors was obtained 16 combinations of treatments with three times of replicates thus obtainedin 48 units of experiment. The parameters was observed in leaf wide Parameter (cm2) 40 HST, Heavy of wet berangkasan (remains of agricultural plants part) (g) 40 HST, leaf heavy (g) 40 HST, Root heavy (g) 40 HST. The test result of F on variance analysis show that planting media and the provision of Urea fertilizer is very significant effect on the leaf wide of age 40 HST, heavy of berangkasan (remains of agricultural plants part) 40 HST, heavy leaf 40 HST. There is a significant interaction between planting media and the provision of Urea fertilizer to wide of leaf , the heavy of wet berangkasan , heavy of leaf, and root heavy respectively at age 40 HST.     Jagung merupakan komoditas pangan sumber karbohidrat kedua setelah beras, sangat penting untuk ketahanan pangan. Kebutuhan jagung di Indonesia saat ini cukup besar, yaitu lebih dari 10 juta ton pipilan kering per tahun.Adapun konsumsi jagung terbesar untuk pangan dan industri pakan ternak.Untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi jagung dapat dilakukan dengan menyediakan unsur hara yang cukup dan berimbang. Salah satu usaha untuk memenuhi kebutuhan akan unsur hara dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian pupuk organik. Salah satu cara untuk memperbaiki sifat tanah adalah pendekatan bioteknologi tanah dengan memanfatkan mikroorganisme seperti mikoriza Parameter yang diamati adalah :tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas helaian daun, bobot produksi/plot, dan volume akar .Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) factorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor :Faktor pertama adalah perlakuan mikoriza terdiri dari 3 taraf yaitu : M0 = 0 g /plot; M1 = 100 g/ plot ; M2= 150 g/plot. Dan perlakuan pupuk sludge terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu : S0 = 0 g/plot ; S1 =2kg/ plot ; S2 =4 kg/ plot; S3= 6 kg/plot. Percobaan ini dilakukan dengan 3 ulangan Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, luas daun dan bobot produksi akibat perlakuan pemberian dosis mikoriza dan pemberianpupukorganik serta interaksinya memperlihatkanpengaruhyang berbeda tidak nyata.
