Using Mobile Augmented Reality to Increase Student English Language Learning
This research explores the impact of mobile-assisted learning with augmented reality (AR) on beginner English language learners, focusing on the utilization of Internet of Things through QR codes. In the digital era, characterized by the dominance of the Alpha generation, mobile learning has become pivotal, aligning with student-centered approaches. The study addresses challenges in vocabulary learning, noting limitations in conventional methods and student motivation. The theoretical framework encompasses mobile-based learning, digital learning, and AR, emphasizing their role in transforming education. AR, with its elements like users, devices, interaction, virtual content, tracking, and real-life entities, is positioned as a powerful tool to enhance interactive learning experiences. The research aims to investigate how mobile-assisted learning with AR can overcome understanding barriers for English language learners and assess the feasibility of its design for beginners. Ultimately, the study suggests that the integration of digital technologies, especially AR, holds promise for revolutionizing English language learning, addressing vocabulary challenges, and catering to the learning preferences of the Alpha generation in the digital era
QR Code-Based Digital Media for Scientific Literacy Skills Enhancement of Elementary School Students
QR Code-based learning encourages teachers to be more creative in designing lessons and students to become more active in the learning process. The problems that are present are the low literacy skills of students in the field of science education, the lack of ability in the field of digital-based technology for science literacy learning, describing alternative solutions to improve science literacy in elementary school students. The development of learning materials in the form of QR Code-based E-Modules aims to enhance higher-order thinking skills in thematic learning. This research aims to develop, validate, and assess effectiveness development of QR Code-Based digital media to enhance scientific literacy skills in the teaching of natural sciences. The research design follows the Research and Development (R&D) method, specifically the Richey and Klein method, consisting of three stages: Planning, Production, and Evaluation. Validation results from media experts show a percentage of 91.57%, language experts 84.38%, and content experts 96.13%. Thus, the developed product is considered highly feasible and ready for testing. The next stage involves one-to-one testing, small group testing, and field testing. One-toone testing scores were 90.28%, small group testing was 93.33%, and field testing was 85.74%. To verify the accuracy of the data, a paired sample t-test using SPSS is conducted, resulting in significance = 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that implementing QR Code-based digital media in science education has a significant positive effect, making it highly feasible and effective for use in fourth-grade science classrooms. Thus with this research students' abilities in implementing scientific literacy in everyday life can be improved to achieve better learning outcomes
The Influence of Personalized Web-Based Learning on The Mastery and Application of Concepts in Students with Different Learning Styles
Conventional learning has limitations, leading researchers to propose personalized web-based learning tailored to individual student characteristics. This study focuses on enhancing web-based learning at Bhinneka PGRI University in Indonesia by customizing content and activities to align with students' learning styles. The research methodology uses a quasi-experimental design involving 72 information technology education students. Data collection includes assessments of learning styles, concept mastery, and concept application through tests. Descriptive statistical analysis shows that personalized web-based learning has a more positive influence on the mastery and application of concepts compared to non-personalized learning. There is no significant correlation between personalized web-based learning and students' learning styles. The findings indicate differences in mastery and application of concepts among students using web-based learning, but no disparities based on different learning styles. In conclusion, personalized web-based learning leads to variations in mastery and application of concepts compared to non-personalized methods, with no discernible discrepancy in the mastery and application of concepts between students with different learning styles. Research indicates that personalized web-based learning is more effective in enhancing mastery and application of concepts compared to non-personalized methods. By customizing web-based learning to individual learning styles, students can enhance the quality and outcomes of their learning
Systematic Literature Review: Implementation of Online Learning Based on Education Levels in Indonesia
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the adoption of online learning, prompting extensive research on its implementation across various educational levels in Indonesia. This study employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, analyzing 13 articles from the GARUDA database, published between 2019 and 2023. The findings reveal diverse platforms utilized for online learning, including Google Classroom (3 mentions), Quizizz (2 mentions), Edmodo (3 mentions), WhatsApp (2 mentions), and custom-developed platforms. At the primary and secondary education levels, platforms like Quizizz and Edmodo were associated with improvements in student motivation (42.5% increase in motivation) and learning outcomes (up to 84% in comprehension improvement for specific materials). However, challenges such as limited internet access and reduced interaction hindered learning experiences. In higher education, Google Classroom was the most frequently cited platform, enhancing accessibility and learning independence. Despite these benefits, issues such as unstable internet connectivity, skill-based material comprehension, and limited engagement persisted. This study concludes that online learning has notably improved accessibility, motivation, and learning outcomes, with significant potential to enhance educational quality. However, addressing barriers such as technical limitations and fostering better interaction are essential for further optimization. These insights provide valuable guidance for refining online learning practices and policies in Indonesia
Development of Mobile Exam Application to Prevent Student Exam Cheating on High School Computational Thinking Informatics Materials
This study aims to develop a mobile-exam application to prevent cheating during online exams in high school computational thinking. The research follows the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) and collects data through questionnaires, observations, pre-test and post-test in control and experimental classes. Sample included 72 respondents divided into control and experimental classes. The analysis involves descriptive and statistical methods to compare test result and cheating frequencies. Result indicate that the use of the mobile exam app significantly decreases cheating occurrences compared to traditional methods. The number of cheating incidents decreased from 20 in the control classes to 5 in the experimental classes, demonstrating the application's effectiveness in promoting academic integrity. Furthermore, the experimental class using the app shows improvement in post-test by 13 points compared to a 5-point increase in the control classes, demonstrating that the app not only prevents cheating but also enhances student learning outcomes. This app contributes to promoting academic integrity in online education settings, offering an innovative solution for improving exam security and student performance
Development of a Stakeholder Satisfaction System Model for Service and Education Quality
This study aims to measure the level of stakeholder satisfaction with the quality of service and education at the Faculty of Education, State University of Malang. The research employs a quantitative analysis method, utilizing a structured questionnaire based on five service quality indicators: Tangible, Responsiveness, Reliability, Empathy, and Assurance. The questionnaire was distributed to stakeholders, including students, lecturers, and staff. The results indicate that the overall level of stakeholder satisfaction is high, with the Assurance indicator scoring the highest at 76.6%, reflecting strong trust in services provided. The lowest score was observed in the Responsiveness indicator at 72.8%, suggesting a need for improvement in addressing stakeholder needs promptly. The study is limited to stakeholders at the Faculty of Education, and the findings may not be generalizable to other faculties or institutions. The findings provide valuable insights for the Faculty of Education to enhance service quality, particularly in responsiveness, to better meet stakeholder expectations. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to improve educational service quality by providing empirical data on stakeholder satisfaction within a specific academic context
Development of Physics E-Learning Based on Discovery Learning to Improve Students' Conceptual Understanding and Learning Interest
Thermodynamics material is abstract material that causes misconceptions. Misconceptions are caused by several things, one of which is the use of learning media that has not been maximized. The procedure for developing physics e-learning based on discovery learning uses the ADDIE type Instructional Design and only reaches the practicality test stage. The developed e-learning contains attendance, discussion forums, e-modules that guide students to improve their understanding of concepts, learning videos, power points, student worksheets, quizzes, summative assessments, glossaries and references to other relevant reading sources with a validity value of 0.92 with a very valid category, a teacher's practicality value of 95.00 and a student's practicality value of 90.25 with a very practical category. Based on the results of validity and practicality, it can be concluded that physics e-learning based on discovery learning is feasible to use in physics learning
The Awareness of Junior High School Students in Malang Towards Online Learning: Post-Pandemic Effect
Online learning was one of the preferred learning strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Changes in learning orientation that was very fast with little coercion due to the limitations of face-to-face learning make educational institutions design appropriate learning strategies. Students as one learning component certainly try to adjust their activities in online learning. The process of adapting to online learning often causes failure in the learning process because of their unpreparedness for online learning. Finding a suitable role model in the process of adapting to online learning was a problem in this study. This study aims to design student models in online learning during the learning process. This study method uses a data visualization approach with data mining and involves as many as 350 students from various junior high schools in Malang. The results showed that there were differences in students' tendencies towards the choice of online learning platforms. In addition, skills in using technology are a determining factor in the formation of student profiles. Implementation of study results is one of the keys to the development of online learning in the future
Effectiveness of Learning Management System of Universitas Negeri Malang in Supporting Distance Learning
The COVID-19 pandemic requires distance learning to be carried out by all educational institutions. The learning management system plays a crucial role in supporting modern distance learning that is carried out online. However, the effectiveness of LMS in supporting distance learning at the State University of Malang has not been known. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of LMS SIPEJAR as a learning management system owned by the State University of Malang in supporting students' distance learning. The sample of this study was students of the Department of Educational Technology batch 2019. The approach used was descriptive qualitative, with the interview method used to collect data from selected participants using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that LMS SIPEJAR is effective in supporting online distance learning for students at the State University of Malang, although several aspects must be improved. This research can be used as a reference and recommend State University of Malang and other institutions to improve the quality of their distance learning
Development of Teaching Performance Evaluation Application for Lecturers Using K-Nearest Neighbor Method with Manhattan Distance Approach
Based on the initial observation, there are several underlying issues that form the basis of this research. The teaching performance evaluation at Padang State University has limitations regarding the courses to be evaluated. Each student can only evaluate 5 (five) courses per semester, where these five courses are randomly selected by the system, allowing each student to evaluate different courses even in the same class. The evaluation of teaching performance at Padang State University is not specific to individual lecturers but to the courses. One course can be taught by several lecturers, so students evaluating the learning cannot provide assessments for each lecturer. This results in each lecturer not having their own performance results. Furthermore, the teaching performance evaluation at Padang State University does not have a classification for the filled evaluations, thus requiring a long time to calculate the final results. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4-D development model consisting of four stages: definition, design, development, and dissemination. The type of data used is primary data obtained from 3 media validators, the evaluation administration of Padang State University, and 46 students. The data analysis technique used is descriptive data analysis to describe the validity and practicality of the developed lecturer performance evaluation application. The results of this development study produced a lecturer performance evaluation with 202 training data, 47 test data, resulting in an accurate system with a precision value of 88.76%, a recall value of 89.93%, and a program accuracy value of 94.04%. The validity results of the web-based learning evaluation conducted by media experts obtained a score of 0.864 with a valid category. The practicality value of using web-based lecturer performance evaluation by students obtained a score of 87.42 with a practical category. Meanwhile, the practicality value obtained by the evaluation administration of Padang State University is 89.33 with a practical category
