Critical Discourse Analysis: Advice via Instagram Social Media Regional Heads in The Use of Technology in Public Education
The prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic which took place in early 2020 – 2022 made regional leaders disseminate information about preventing Covid-19 through their respective social media by relying on access to information technology and social media owned by regional leaders. This research aims to analyze critical discourse based on Teun van Dijk's method which is divided into microstructure, superstructure and microstructure aspects. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with the type of research in the form of library research or library research which focuses on documentary analysis which refers to on the Instagram posts of regional heads Wahidin Halim (Governor of Banten Province) @wh_wahidinhalim, Anies Baswedan (Governor of DKI Jakarta) @aniesbaswedan, Ridwan Kamil (Governor of West Java) @ridwankamil, Ganjar Pranowo (Governor of Central Java) @ganjar_pranowo, and Khofifah Indar Parawansa ( Governor of East Java) @khofifah.ip. The results of research in critical discourse analysis according to Teun A. Van Djik's model are divided into three aspects, namely macro structure, superstructure and micro structure. This aspect can be found in social media posts with the same pattern, so it can be concluded that the aspect of critical discourse analysis in Instagram posts during the Covid-19 pandemic was that regional heads (governors) gave recommendations and appeals to the public to comply with health protocols and reduce activities outside the home
Implementation of the Independent Campus Learning Program Health Study Program Curriculum
Education serves as a transformative process that enhances human potential for the betterment. The Minister of Education and Culture initiated the Independent Learning-Independent Campus Program (MBKM) in 2020 to equip graduates with the skills to meet global challenges. However, since its inception at universities, the health study program curriculum has struggled to align with this policy. This study investigates the MBKM's implementation within the health study program curriculum. A literature review was conducted, sourcing material from databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Worldcat, focusing on literature published from 2020 to 2024 in both Indonesian and English with full-text availability. The literature review aimed to provide a thorough understanding of the subject, with inclusion and exclusion criteria ensuring the relevance and integrity of the literature. The findings reveal that several health study programs have adopted the Independent Learning-Independent Campus Program, noting improvements in students' hard and soft skills in preparation for employment. Nonetheless, challenges persist in the Independent Learning-Independent Campus Program execution, including inadequate preparedness for learning, lecturer/facilitator involvement, and a need for more detailed information on MBKM Campus Program's implementation
The Influence of LCD Media through PjBL-STEM on Critical Thinking Skills
This study investigates the impact of LCD media integrated with Project-Based Learning STEM (PjBL-STEM) on enhancing elementary school science students' critical thinking skills. Despite employing a quantitative approach and true experimental design, further clarification on the practical implementation of PjBL-STEM and the role of LCD media in the learning process would be beneficial. PjBL-STEM engages students in hands-on science projects that promote problem-solving, which is typically essential in elementary-level science curricula. However, "LCD media" lacks specificity, raising questions about whether it encompasses slides, videos, or interactive digital content. Conducted at SDN Wonosalam in Demak Regency, the research targets Grade V students using a saturated sample technique. Pretests and posttests on animal life cycle content were analyzed using the t-test to evaluate the impact of LCD-enhanced PjBL-STEM on critical thinking. Results reveal a significant positive influence, with a 2-tailed significance score of 0.005 (<0.05). Critical thinking indicators reflected high percentages: clarification (83%), assessment (81%), inference (82%), and strategies (85%). Average scores improved from a pretest mean of 68.33 to a posttest mean of 82.67, signifying growth in 21st-century skills, particularly critical thinking. This suggests that LCD-supported PjBL-STEM enhances reasoning and fosters deeper scientific understanding among elementary students
How Is It Done: A Qualitative Analysis of Teachers Strategies in Meeting the Challenges of Differentiated Instruction
Differentiated Instruction (DI) is considered an important but challenging task which many teachers feel unprepare. A list of requisite skill of DI is needed to eliminate teachers’ unpreparadness. This study aimed to explore requisite skills for DI implementation and to identify best practices across various school levels. Using 112 self-reported essays, subsequent interviews, videotaped DI practices, and experts meeting, this article employed Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA) to capture a description of the knowledge that experts use to carry out differentiations. The result revealed that CTA of DI implementation contained four essential skills in the preparation phase, nine skills in the implementation phase, and two skills in the evaluation phase. Despite of highly different contexts of school levels, this study found similarities in DI practices across all levels. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on DI by highlighting the effectiveness of CTA in identifying and implementing DI strategies across different educational levels. Future research should explore the long-term impacts of DI on student achievement and engagement, as well as investigate DI practices in different educational settings
Teacher-Student Interaction Models: Effective Strategies for Increasing Student Participation and Motivation
Effective teacher-student interactions are pivotal in fostering an engaging and motivating learning environment. Despite recognizing their importance, educators often seek evidence-based strategies to enhance student participation and motivation consistently. This study identifies and evaluates various teacher-student interaction models to determine their effectiveness in increasing student participation and motivation within diverse educational settings. Employing a quantitative methods approach, the research involved 150 teachers and 1,200 students across multiple secondary schools in East Jakarta Indonesia. Quantitative data were collected through structured surveys measuring student engagement and motivation levels, while qualitative insights were garnered from semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. Statistical analyses, including ANOVA and regression models, were utilized to assess the impact of different interaction strategies. Thematic analysis was conducted on qualitative data to identify recurring patterns and contextual factors influencing outcomes. The findings indicate that interaction models emphasizing collaborative learning and personalized feedback significantly enhance student participation and motivation. Specifically, strategies such as the Socratic Method and Flipped Classroom demonstrated a 25% and 30% increase in student engagement metrics, respectively. Additionally, the integration of technology-mediated interactions was found to foster higher levels of student motivation compared to traditional instructional methods. Qualitative data revealed that teachers' interactive and student-centered approaches made students feel more valued and empowered
Trends in the Development of Vocational Education and Training Research Studies in Southeast Asia
This study examines the development trends of vocational training research studies in Southeast Asia in the period 2014 to 2024 using bibliometric analysis methods. By setting the keyword "vocational training in Southeast Asia," this study collected data from academic databases and produced 1500 relevant journals. After going through the screening process, 844 articles were obtained which were then analyzed to identify trends and patterns in vocational training. The results of the analysis show three main phases: the initial phase (2014–2018) which focuses on aspects of psychology and political science; the development phase (2019–2021) which highlights the importance of physical and mental health; and the mature phase (2022–2024) which shifts attention to the social and economic impacts of vocational training. In addition, this study shows fluctuations in the number of publications, with a significant peak occurring in 2020. Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia dominate research contributions in this region. The main topics covered include competencies and skills, learning and curriculum, industry partnerships, policies and implementation, and technology and innovation. These findings provide a comprehensive picture of the evolution of thinking in vocational training in Southeast Asia, and suggest further research directions to strengthen the integration between vocational education and industry needs
Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile Based on Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge
Learning in elementary schools is currently directed to integrate technology that is aligned with the mission of the material in order to achieve quality results and student character, namely strengthening the profile of Pancasila students. This TPACK construction is expected to form student output as lifelong learners who have global abilities and behavior according to Pancasila values. Field studies need to analyze the integration of technology in learning as an effort to form students who are democratic, capable, and productive Indonesian citizens in the 21st century. The purpose of this study is to fundamentally analyze the model of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students based on TPACK at SDIT Usamah, Tegal City, as well as supporting factors and constraints. This type of research is descriptive qualitative; research location SDIT Usamah, Tegal City; data sources in the form of informants, activities, and documents; Data were collected using non-participant observation techniques, in-depth interviews, documentation studies; data validity testing by extending observations, increasing perseverance in research, discussions, triangulation. Data were analyzed using interactive model techniques flowing through data collection, data reduction, data display and conclusions. The results of the study indicate that strengthening the profile of Pancasila students based on TPACK at SDIT Usamah, Tegal City, especially in grade IV in science learning integrates technology applied through learning media and learning models. The dimensions of the Pancasila student profile are focused on three dimensions that are relevant to the material and objectives of science learning, including: 1) the dimension of global diversity; 2) the dimension of mutual cooperation; 3) the dimension of critical reasoning
Revolutionizing Learning in the 21st Century: Development of Video Microlearning Anchored in TPACK
It is important to foster 21st-century skills in the context of modern education. However, integrating these skills into the curriculum remains challenging. This study addresses the gap by developing TPACK-based (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) video microlearning towards relevant curriculum in Indonesia. The objective of this research is to create effective video microlearning content that aligns with the TPACK framework. Utilizing Thiagarajan's 4D model—define, design, develop, and disseminate—the study employed a research and development approach. Data were gathered through expert evaluations of media and content, and feedback from teachers and students. The sample included 10th-grade Marketing students at SMKN 12 Jakarta. The findings demonstrated a 95% feasibility rate for the media and a 92% success rate for the content, indicating high effectiveness and suitability for instructional purposes. Further testing with teachers and students yielded positive responses of 94% and 95%, respectively. These results highlight the significance of TPACK-based video microlearning as a valuable instructional tool, capable of enhancing 21st-century skills in students. The novelty of this research lies in its application of the TPACK framework to video microlearning, addressing the urgent need for innovative educational strategies
Development of E-Books Oriented to Banten Culture Integrated with Challenge Based Learning to Improve Elementary School Students' Creative Thinking Skills in Science Learning
Future demands are very complex, including the ability to generate new ideas, find unique solutions, and think flexibly and elaboratively. The purpose of this study is to develop students' creative thinking skills, especially in the subjects of Natural Sciences and Social Sciences (IPAS), which are often neglected in the learning process using e-books. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. Data analysis was carried out using the one group pretest-posttest model. The subjects of the study were fifth grade students of SD Negeri 5 Banjarsari, Cipocok Jaya District, Serang City. The results of this study indicate that the developed E-Book is feasible and effective for use in the learning process, as evidenced by the assessment of learning design experts obtaining a score of 97.78% (very good), the assessment of content experts obtaining a score of 90.62% (very good), and the assessment of learning design and media experts obtaining a score of 97.50% (very good). The product effectiveness test also showed a significant difference between before and after using the E-Book. The results of the study concluded that the Banten Culture-oriented E-Book integrated with Challenge Based Learning (CBL) was able to improve students' creative thinking skills in science learning. The E-Book also received positive responses from both students and teachers, both in terms of content, design, and usability in the learning process. The recommendation is that this E-Book can be said to be an effective alternative learning media to improve the quality of education in elementary schools, especially in science learning
Evaluation of the Teaching Industry Program in Developing the Entrepreneurial Spirit of Graphic Design Students
The creative industry in the hospitality sector faces a huge challenge to innovate in the digital era. The entrepreneurial competence of vocational students is important to meet the needs of the dynamic world of work. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Teaching Industry program in developing the entrepreneurial skills of students of the Diploma Program in Graphic Design, Widyatama University through a case study at the Malaka Hotel Bandung for the 2022–2024 period. This Teaching Industry program is designed using the Work-Based Learning approach to provide real work experience, Experiential Learning for hands-on learning, Collaborative Learning to train teamwork, and Project-Based Learning to complete tasks in the field of digital marketing, such as content planning, graphic design, photography, videography, and social media management. This study uses a mixed method, with a qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and document analysis (logbook, internship report, work presentation, and performance evaluation), as well as a quantitative approach through questionnaires and evaluation of supervisors. The results of the study showed the development of student entrepreneurship indicators, namely: 1) leadership collaboration and teamwork (88%), 2) motivation and confidence in achievement (82%), 3) initiative and courage to take risks (76%), and 4) independence and responsibility (70%). Overall, the program recorded a 79% success rate. Of the 17 students who participated, 3 of them were successfully recommended as contract employees, including 1 student who was recruited as a member of the Malacca Hotel Digital Marketing team. This program is effective in improving digital marketing technical skills as well as teamwork, leadership, and project management skills relevant to the needs of the creative industry
