Exploring Research Collaboration Through Connected PIDs: ORCID & Crossref Data Visualization Using R and Tableau
The ORCID US Community partnered with the Drexel University LEADING program to create a set of resources for visualizing publication collaboration activity based on public data from researchers’ ORCID records and Crossref DOI publication metadata. The resources include an R script that can be used to retrieve information about publishing collaborations between researchers at a home organization and other organizations across the globe. The resulting dataset can be imported into a Tableau Public dashboard template, to create a data visualization that can be shared with multiple stakeholders to emphasize how PIDs can be used to visualize researcher activity and impact

PID Interoperability in Practice: Combining ARK, ISNI, ISSN and URN to Enhance Data Quality and Information Services
The ISSN International Centre is the registration authority for ISO 3297, which defines the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN). This persistent identifier is assigned to continuing resources, i.e. print and digital journals, websites, blogs and repositories. The metadata associated with this identifier is created by the ISSN network, which currently comprises 93 national centers and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. The data is published on a portal based on a freemium model (https://portal.issn.org) with core data made available for free. In its current strategy, the ISSN International Center has defined the interoperability of the ISSN with other persistent identifiers as a priority objective
Where Are We with the Conference PIDs?
Conferences play an important role in scholarly communication. Especially in applied sciences they also serve as venue for publishing original research (e.g., up to 2/3 novel results in computer science published in proceedings). This session aims at bringing together various stakeholders working on implementation or use of conference PIDs as developed earlier within the Crossref/Datacite Conference PID group https://www.crossref.org/working-groups/conferences-projects/. We will quickly review the use cases for conference PIDs and engage participants to share their experiences of using conference PIDs. Finally, we'll discuss how to increase the adoption of conference PIDs
