Sustainability of an Institutional Repository in Practice
The National Library of Technology (NTK) has operated its institutional repository for publications and other outputs for over ten years on the open-source platform Invenio 1. With a lack of technical staff over the years, the maintenance of the repository was getting more and more complicated. By 2022, the situation was no longer sustainable, and we had to face difficult choices. To ensure the repository's sustainability, it was necessary to change the software and process the data migration. We chose DSpace 7 as it meets our requirements well. Nevertheless, there are only a few implementations of DSpace 7 so far, none of them in the Czech Republic (only version 6). In all circumstances, it meant many challenges and mistakes during the DSpace 7 implementation. Our experience with the sustainability of a repository on a short budget is very fresh. We want to share it with the community, so our mistakes don’t have to be repeated. The contribution briefly describes the NTK repository context and shares the challenges and mistakes we made while implementing the chosen solution

Výroční konference NTK 2023: Tým TriS
Konferenční příspěvek o týmu TriS a hodnocení služeb knihovny
Příspěvek představí plánované funkce repozitáře, včetně harmonogramu, a nastíní předpokládané podmínky užití
Business trip report from Open Repositories 2024
Open Repositories je mezinárodní konference zaměřená na téma provozu, rozvoje a udržitelnosti digitálních repozitářů. Letošní 19. ročník se konal v Goteborgu, spolupořadatelem byla Chalmers University of Technology. Cílem účasti na konferenci, kromě sdílení vlastních zkušeností z procesu migrace (příspěvek účastníků „From Invenio 1 to DSpace 7: Sustainability of an Institutional Repository in Practice“), bylo získat aktuální informace o trendech v oblasti repozitářů, navázat kontakty s mezinárodní komunitou, užívající software DSpace a s týmem vývojářů tohoto softwaru. Tyto zkušenosti budou přínosné při dalším rozvoji IDR a zlepšení jeho provozu. Trendy vývoje v oblasti repozitářů mohou pomoci týmu zajišťující transformaci NUŠL na Národní repozitář a novinky v oblasti metadatových schémat obohatí portfolio znalostí k poskytování metadatové podpory

Academic Writing Q&A Series 13
This presentation addresses the question of publishing with an industrial partner. This presentation serves as the basis for a video from the Academic Writing Q&A series that was created as a supplement to the My First Scientific Article webinar. The presentation explains what is entailed by publishing with an industrial partner under blind peer review, and includes a link to further resources on the need for disclosure to avoid conflict of interest. The content is useful for Early Career Researchers and for everyone who is interested in scholarly communication and publishing
Current Status of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) for Scientific Articles in Open Science
This article addresses the current state of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) as of May 11th, 2022. In it, it is possible to obtain the public data of scientific journals that get uploaded weekly in JSON (Java Script Object Notation) format. The directory includes data from 130 countries in 80 languages and, on an indicated day, it collects data from 17,602 journals. DOAJ is an online directory that provides open access to high-quality, peer-reviewed journals. All data is available for free

Setting the Stage for FAIR Digital Objects (FDOs) in Research
The FAIR Digital Object (FDO) concept takes a further step, by requiring that much of the core metadata information is both accessible directly at the point of resolving an object's PID, and unambiguously formatted and presented in a way that computer processes – including AI – can easily act upon. In this way FDOs promises greater discoverability and machine actionability of research objects, allowing us to use the world’s research data more efficiently. However, FDOs are seen by many as overly complex and difficult to implement. Our session aims to demystify the concepts involved, and build a bridge between producers and users of "FAIR data" and "FAIR DO" proponents through examples illustrating what is required to upgrade digital objects from basic “FAIR for humans” to fully-fledged FDOs
