And the Winner is… PIDs for Research Awards and Prizes in the KDSF Standard for Research Information

    No full text
The registry of research awards and prizes is part of a larger effort of the Commission of Research Information in Germany (KFiD) to facilitate institutional research information management. The KFiD is an expert body which brings together the most relevant actors of the German science system. One of KFiD’s instruments is the KDSF Standard for Research Information. It aims at harmonizing the collection and reporting of research information in Germany. It does so by proposing a set of definitions and rules for diverse domains, such as, projects, employment, publications, and in future, research prizes and awards. The KDSF recommends the use of PIDs for the collection and reporting of research information

    PID Communities, Collaboration, & Connection

    No full text
Are you interested in learning about how PID communities are working together on community engagement and creating connections between PIDs? Are you willing to share your community, collaboration, and connection experiences? During the PID Communities, Collaboration & Connection session, we’ll briefly share how multiple PID communities in the United States and Canada regularly work together on engagement opportunities and are also working within their communities on interconnecting PIDs. We’ll spend the next portion of the session in breakout discussion groups, learning about each other’s experiences. In the last quarter of the meeting, we’ll ask the breakout groups to report back to the larger group to share highlights, ideas, and questions that came out of our small group discussion. This will help us think about next steps and ways that we can further our common goals. We’re hoping that this will be an opportunity to learn from each other and head home with some fun, new ideas

A Knowledge Base for Persistent Identifiers

    No full text
The CAT can serve as a valuable Knowledge Base for PID Stacks within EOSC, offering comprehensive information, resources, and concrete examples of existing PID stacks (e.g., DOIs, ORCIDs) along with guidelines and best practices for their implementation and management within the EOSC ecosystem, as developed in the FAIR-IMPACT project. As a result CAT could provide new users with easy access to information on PID implementation, management, and compliance, helping them navigate the complexities of the PID landscape, and assisting with selection of appropriate PID stacks for their use cases

Do Organisms Need an Impact Factor? Other Use Cases for PIDs

    No full text
In 2013 the RRID Project was started, which aimed to help authors identify all ‘key biological resources’, support the proper citation and authentication of each resource, and enable the FAIR sharing of resource information. These ‘key biological resources’ are all uniquely identifiable via their Research Resource Identifier (#RRID), a PID assigned to help researchers cite key resources (antibodies, model organisms, and software projects) in the biomedical literature to improve the transparency of research methods. In our session, we would like to highlight the importance of using RRIDs across the research cycle and adopting them as a PID for scholarly publishing
