Substrate has an important role for growing and surviving of seagrass as a medium of life and as a supplier of nutrients. Lack of attention towards seagrass is because of less information related to the seagrass ecology itself. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of substrate diameter with it’s density. The study was conducted in April in Bahoi coastal, North Minahasa District, North Sulawesi. This study measured water quality, substrate sampling were taken in the field. The result showed that 6 seagrass species: Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Halodule uninervis, Cymodecea rotundata, Syringodium isoetifolium, Halpohila ovalis, with good water quality and sand substrate types. This coastal area was dominated by small-sized seagrass. The highest density was found at station B with seagrass type was S. isoetifolium and lowest was at station C with E. acoroides and Sand substrate which had big diameter, type T. hemprichii had high density

This study aimed to assess the aquatic carrying capacity for extensive fishing. The study was conducted in Cilala Lake, Jampang Village, Bogor. The carrying capacity was determined based on primary productivity using the chlorophyll value, which is indicating the existence of phosphate in waters. The result showed that carrying capacity of Cilala Lake for extensive fishing was 3.51 tons/year. Tilapia was the fish which could be restocked, because it has high tolerance to waters condition and there’s not prey or predator for this fish. If fish for restocking was assumed about 25 g in size and would be about 250 g after 46 months (harvest size), then the maximum stocked was 15.602 fingerlings/year for two periods. The number of fish pen cage available on the lake should be considered in calculating the number of fish for restocking

Rice Tungro disease is one of biotic constraint that can reduce yield potential of rice. Tungro disease viruses are transmitted from one plant to another by leafhoppers that feed on tungro-infected plants. The most efficient vector is the green leafhopper, Nephotettix virescens. Green leafhoppers (GLH) generally found in areas with high altitude and low temperature. However, GLH and tungro disease can be found in medium and low altitude areas. The aim of this study was to determine the abundance of green leafhopper, tungro disease incidence, and effectiveness of inoculum source in different altitude at endemic areas. Field observations conducted to observe tungro disease incidence and the density of GLH population. Moreover, greenhouse activities were conducted to examine the effectiveness of inoculum sources, including ratoon, spilled grain, weeds, and plants in the vegetative phase. The results showed there was no significant difference in the GLH population dynamics in upland areas represented by Garut and lowland areas represented by Purwakarta, both showed low population density. Ratoon, spilled grain, and plants in the vegetative phase were the effective inoculum sources to be used as host tungro viruses

The implementation of community forest intend to give space for the local community for sustainable forest management. The submission of HKm license was done by farmers of HKm group who already received facilitaties from forestry partner that is Non-govermental Forestry Extension Worker (PKSM) to regent. The objectives of this research were to analyze the role of PKSM level for assisting farmer to obtain HKm license and analyze the correlation between external and internal factors of partner with their role. This research was done in Subdistrict Sendang Agung as an area under the jurisdiction of PKSM to assist submission of HKm license. The data was analized by Chi Square test, meanwhile to detect the correlation level of respondent factors with partner role is using coefficient contingency correlation analize. Based on analize result partner role level is obtained in high classification, partner role is as dynamist, mediator, facilitator, motivator, and educators. Internal factors companion that has a strong enough relationship with the role of companion is the number of dependents, long-serving, and cosmopilitaness, where as age, income, as well as information disclosure had uneasy relations. External factors companion that has a strong relationship with the companion role is recognition of the success and intensity of supervision, facilities have less close relationship level with the role of companion

Local beef cattle is still the major source of domestic beef consumption, yet their productivity and quality is relatively low. This study was aimed to investigate productivity and meat quality traits of local beef cattle through fattening using cereals based concentrate containing different energy level. Nine Ongole cattle with average initial liveweight of 254.67 ± 20.7 kg and age between I1-I2 permanent incisor teeth were used in the study. They were fattened for four months and alloted into three different energy rations; they were low (ER) 57.88% TDN, medium (ES) 63.72% TDN, and high (ET) 69.67% TDN. The three rations had simmilar protein contents, between 12.42-12.96%. Observed parameters included cattle performance (ration and nutrition dry mater intake, daily gain, and feed conversion), carcass traits (carcass weight and percentage, fat thickness, and loin eye area at the 12th rib), and meat quality traits (pH, water holding capacity, tenderness, cooking loss, marbling score, and meat color). The results showed that cattle fed with high energy (ET) ration had the highest body weight and marbling score, and more efficient in feed conversion than medium (ES) and low energy (ER) rations. Local beef cattle productivity and there meat quality could be improve through fattening using high energy cereals based concentrate
