Seroprevalensi Trichinellosis pada Babi Hutan di Kabupaten Bengkulu Tengah, Provinsi Bengkulu
Trichinellosis is a zoonotic disease caused by nematode of the genus Trichinella infection. Transmission of this disease in humans occurs because of eating meat, especially pork containing Trichinella spp. larvae in raw or undercooked conditions. Data on trichinellosis cases in humans and animals in Indonesia are still very limited. This study was carried out to identify the seroprevalence of Trichinella spp. in wild boar in Central Bengkulu District and the level of public knowledge about trichinellosis. Sampling method was used cross sectional method by taking blood serum sample from captured wild boar at TPH in Talang Boseng of Bengkulu Province. Result of serological test using indirect ELISA showed seroprevalence of trichinellosis was 68.2% of total 44 samples obtained. Seropositive results based on the sub-district of the wild boar captured were 12 of 18 (66.7%) in Pondok Kubang and 18 of 26 (69.2%) in Pondok Kelapa. All wild boar meat consumer respondents did not understand that consumption of wild boar meat could become the source of trichinellosis transmission
Pengaruh Eradikasi Gulma terhadap Perkembangan Populasi Wereng Hijau dan Kejadian Penyakit Tungro pada Padi
Tungro is one of the important diseases in rice that is still a constraint to increased productivity. Tungro disease caused by a tungro viruses that is transmitted by green leafhoppers in a semi persistent manner. The presence of weeds can cause yield losses of rice and is a potential host plant of tungro viruses. Eradication of weeds is an attempt to eliminate the source of inoculum of tungro viruses. The research objective was to determine the effect of weed eradication on the development of green leafhopper population and the incidence of tungro disease. The study was conducted in an experimental field of Tungro Disease Research Station, Lanrang Village, Sidenreng Rappang District, South Sulawesi at rainy season and dry season 2014. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with 8 eradication treatments and 4 replications. The parameters include the observation of weed species that grow in each plot and embankment planting, green leafhopper population density and the number of infected plants by tungro viruses. Observations in the planting is done at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks after planting (WAP). The observations of weeds and green leafhopper population was also conducted on the field before eradication. The results showed that the weeds potential as a source of inoculum were Cyperus rotundus, C. iria, Fimbristylis miliacea, and E. colonum. Eradication of weeds before and after planting through both mechanical and herbicide applications tended to suppress the green leafhopper populations and tungro disease incidence
Pengaruh Pupuk terhadap Pertanaman Kacang Hijau dan Residunya pada Tanaman Kacang Tunggak
The objective of this research was to determine the effect of fertilization on four varieties mungbean in ultisol acid soils and its residual on cowpea. The experiment was conducted at the screen house of Indonesian Legumes and Tuber Crops Research Institute (ILETRI), Malang, East Java, from November 2014-April 2015. Two types of research conducted sequentially, the first planting was four mungbean varieties and the second planting was cowpea (continued from the first planting) without additional fertilizer. This experiment was laid out in split plot design, replicated three times. In the first planting, mungbean as the main plot, namely Kenari (V1), Murai (V2), Kutilang (V3), and Vima 1 (V4). Fertilizer rates as the sub plot, namely control or without fertilizer (P0), 300 kg Phonska/ha (P1), 1500 kg cow manure/ha (P2), 3000 kg cow manure/ha (P3), and 5000 kg cow manure/ha (P4). The cowpea variety used in the second planting was KT 4, with the experiment design following the first planting. The results from first planting showed that growth of mungbean varieties was relatively same at ultisol acid soils, and seed yield can increase by application 300 kg/ha Phonska or 3000 kg cow manure/ha. The growth of cowpea showed the best result on both fertilizers indicating the presence of fertilizer residue from first planting
Produksi dan Kualitas Beras Dua Varietas Padi Akibat Rebah dan Terendam
Rice lodging followed by flooding has negatively detriment on the production, however, scientific evident is still rare. As the incident tends to escalate as the impact of extreme weather, hence, research was conducted in order to evaluate rice production and its quality of two rice genotypes treated with lodging-flooding. The experiment was conducted at Leuwikopo Farm IPB Bogor in July-October 2016 using randomized complete block design using two factors, i.e., variety (Way Seputih and Way Apo Buru) and lodging (no lodged [bending 0-18°], lodged [lodged 38-56°], and lodged with flooded [lodged 76-90°]). Rice hill aged 85 days after transplanting was lodged for 15 days. Results showed that lodged with flooded treatment did not increase yield loss although the plant tended to have sterility 5.59-22.00% higher, grain weight 2.05-35.26% lower, and 0.88-10.66% lower value of rice to unhusked ratio. Grains from the lodged-flooded plant had a number of head rice 13.38-15.78% lower, broken rice 0-24.84% higher, and stimulated germination on 1.33-3.40% grains than lodged-without-flooded. It is important to use rice varieties with stable on milling quality to address the lodged-flooded incident
Kajian Karakteristik Fisik Tanah di Lahan Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit (Elaies guinensis Jacq.) Kebun Adolina PTPN IV pada Beberapa Generasi Tanam
Soil management on some plantation land uses, such as fertilizing, clearing, the use of heavy equipment will affect, and the soil properties of the land use. This study aims to determine changes in physical properties of soil in the plantation oil palm plantations Adolina PTPN IV on 3 generations of planting. It was conducted at Adolina Estate of PTPN IV, Serdang Bedagai, Sumatera Utara in July-December 2016. The method used in this research is survey method with descriptive analysis. Soil samples taken are controls are the land has never planted oil palm (K0), palm oil 1st generation (G1), 3rd generation (G3), and 4th generation (G4). The results showed that planting of oil palm in the Adolina Garden increased soil pore space, soil structure, increased humidity (temperature), soil texture, the ability of roots to penetrate the soil (solum), and increased organic material. But it does not give a noticeable change to the parameters of soil density, permeability, and carbon storage in the soil
Respons Agronomi Tiga Varietas Ubi Kayu pada Berbagai Tingkat Kadar Air Tanah
Cassava has been cultivated in almost the all region of Indonesia as a raw material of food, feed, and industries. The productivity of cassava was varied among the region due to the variation of varieties used and growth environment, especially rainfall or water availability. Water deficit or drought stress will decrease the growth and yield of cassava. Selecting tolerant variety to drought will be important to get high productivity. An experimental pot in the greenhouse has been conducted to know the growth and yield response to drought. Three varieties of cassava i.e Adira-1, Gajah, and Mangu were planted in the pot at three level of soil moisture content (SMC) 40-60, 60-80, and 80-100% of field capacity (FC). The cassava growth traits were influenced by SMC starting at 6 weeks after planting (WAP) for a number of leaves, at 8 WAP for stem girth, at 10 WAP for plant height, at 14 WAP for lobus width, and 15 WAP for lobus length. Root, stem, and leaves dry weight in the SMC of 40-60% FC were 64.4; 43.98, and 31.19% of the dry weight in 80-00% FC. Roots yield in the soil moisture content of 40-60% FC decreased by 76.2% and in the SMC of 40-60%, FC decreased by 38.4% compared to in the SMC of 80-100% FC. Potensi Cadangan Karbon Hutan Nabundong KPH Wilayah VI Sumatera Utara
Tropical forest plays a major role in global carbon (C) cycle, about 50% of the total carbon is stored in biomass and 50% is stored in the top 1 m of the soil. Research on the potential for carbon stock was conducted in Nabundong forest in Padang Lawas Utara District. It was managed by the FMU (Forest Management Unit) region VI North Sumatra. This research aims to identify forest structure, estimate above ground biomass using allometric equations, and determine the carbon stock potential of Nabundong forest. The results showed that stratum I (212.68 tonC/ha) had higher carbon stock than stratum II (151.78 tonC/ha)
Komposisi Makanan dan Strategi Makan Ikan Famili Gobiidae di Teluk Pabean, Indramayu
The objectives of this study were to identify and evaluate diet composition and feeding strategy of Gobiid fishes in Pabean Bay, Indramayu. Fishes were collected monthly using gill nets, shrimp nets and fixed trap nets from April 2016-March 2017. Diet composition and feeding strategy were analyzed by IRI (Index of Relative Importance) and modification of the graphical Costello method, respectively. Nine species of Gobiidae were captured during the study period, namely Acentrogobius caninus (with total body length range 46-115 mm), Acentrogobius cyanomos (49-108 mm), Boleophthalmus boddarti (95-189 mm), Glossogobius aureus (70-210 mm), Oxyurichthys tentacularis (88-130 mm), Parapocryptes serperaster (112-198 mm), Paratrypauchen microcephalus (100-150 mm), Pseudapocryptes elongatus (88-190 mm), and Taenioides cirratus (160 mm). According to the diet analysis, A. caninus, A. cyanomos, and G. aureus were grouped into crustacivore, while the B. boddarti, P. serperaster, P. microcephalus, and P. elongatus were categorized as phytobenthic feeder. A. caninus, G. aureus, and A. cyanomos exhibited a specialist feeding strategy with the main food was Metapenaeus sp., Metapenaeus sp. and Acetes sp., respectively. B. boddarti, P. serperaster, P. microcephalus, P. elongates displayed a generalized feeding strategy. This research showed that Gobiid fishes occupy different trophic levels and play an important ecological role in Pabean Bay
Pemanfaatan Pekarangan Melalui Pengembangan Lanskap Produktif di Desa Mangunan, Kabupaten Bantul Yogyakarta
Utilization of land around a house as a pakarangan supports the quality and biodiversity of ecosystems. Utilization of pekarangan will develop a productive landscape in order to support food production for household and social interaction facility with neighbors. Mangunan Village has a category of marginal land because of the character of a dry land, rocky, far from water sources, and hilly topography. Therefore this village needs plants that can be adaptable for the environmental characteristics. The research aimed to identify the utilization of pekarangan, to find out the opinions of the people through the utilization of pekarangan and to reveal the linkage of plant functions in developing a productive landscape of pekarangan. Data were collected by purposive sampling with samples of 180 households spreading over six clusters of dusun in Mangunan Village. Variables of research were land area, species and quantity of plants, and people response in developing the productive landscape. Utilization of pekarangan in a wide variety of planting covering planting fruit crops (31%), herbal plants (20%), aesthetics plants (15%), and vegetables (15%). Mangunan Village has diversity index of pekarangan on medium rate (H’ 2.65) and evenness of species on stable position (E 0.32). Therefore, Mangunan Village requires more plants and species to keep a better ecosystem. Community in Mangunan Village was very enthusiastic in the utilization of pekarangan for provisioning food (59%). People require assistance to implement pekarangan functions because they have not enough knowledge on pekarangan plan. The plant functions had high linkage and low linkage in developing productive landscape of pekarangan
Identifikasi Kesesuaian Genotipe Kedelai untuk Tumpang Sari dengan Ubi Kayu
Intercropping is a modification of crop arrangements that can provide significant improvements in yields, with minimal labor investment. Increased productivity in soybean intercropping with cassava can be achieved through the use of suitable soybean genotypes for intercropping, as each genotype shows different responses to intercropping. The research aimed to identify the suitability of soybean genotypes for intercropping with cassava based on yield and land productivity assessed by the land equivalent ratio (LER). The research in 2016 was conducted at Kendalpayak Station Research, Malang, using a split plot design, repeated three times. The main plot is fifty-five soybean genotypes (50 promising lines and five control varieties, namely: Argopuro, Panderman, Dena 1, Dena 2, and Grobogan), and the sub plot is cropping systems (monoculture and intercropping). The results showed that intercropping of soybean with cassava caused soybean plants to experience shade stress, with shade rate of 62-90, 43-77, and 0-40% respectively for first, second and third-row positions. There are six soybean genotypes suitable for intercropping with cassava, Grob/Argom313-2, Grob/Pander395-3, Grob/Pander405-3, Grob/Pander428-1, Grob/Pander429-2, and Grob/IAC439-2, with an LER value of ≥1.8 which is a 10% selection limit to LER. Four combinations of them (Grob/Pander395-3, Grob/Pander405-3, Grob/Pander428-1, and Grob IAC439-2) provide an increase in cassava yields between 7.7-19.7% and reduction of soybean yields between 21.4-38.5%. While the two combinations other (Grob/Argom313-2 and Grob/Pander429-2) provide a reduction of cassava yields by 1.4 and 8.5% and reduction of soybean yield by 23.5 and 7.1%
