Organ Pencernaan dan Status Escherichia coli Usus Puyuh yang Diberi Tepung Defatted Maggot (Hermetia illucens) sebagai Pengganti Meat Bone Meal
This study was designed to evaluate the effect of substitution of Meat Bone Meal (MBM) with defatted maggot (Hermetia illucens) meal (DMM) on weight and length of digestive organs and the status of Escherichia coli in quail intestine. This study used 285 female quails aged six weeks with an average weight of 153.3±3.7 g. This experiment used Completely Randomized Design with three treatments, five replications, and each replication consisteds of 19 quails. The treatments were P1 = 0% DMM in diet, P2 = 3.1% TDM in diet (to substitute 50% of MBM protein), and P3 = 6.18% TDM in diet (to substitute 100% of MBM protein). The measurement of the digestive organs was performed by weighing each of the digestive organ and compared with the live weight multiplied by 100%. The measurement of the relative length was calculated by comparing the length of the organs by live weight and multiplied by 100%. The calculation of the concentration of E. coli used the method of dilution according to Waluyo (2005). The results showed that there was no significant effect on the percentage and the relative length of digestive organs. Defatted maggot meal has the activity as a natural antimicrobial that can decrease the Escherichia coli in quail intestine by 99.99% along with the increase in defatted maggot meal to 6.18% in diet. It can be concluded that protein from defatted maggot (Hermetia illucens) meal can be used up to 6.18% as an alternative to replace MBM without alteration in health status of the quail

Quantitative data processing used linear regression by using a significant level of 10%. The results of the research showed that the education of the farmers was low, the average age of the farmers was 46 years, and the majority of the farmers work as rubber farmers. Rubber contributed 63% to the total revenue and the rest comes from company laborers and loggers and average farmer incomes was IDR733.389/month. Variables that affect farmers\u27 income are rubber prices, farmers groups, and farmers experience in rubber gardening. The variables that have no significant effect on farmers\u27 income are the education of farmers, the labor in the family, and the land area
Persepsi Petani terhadap Dukungan Pemerintah dalam Penerapan Sistem Pertanian Berkelanjutan
One of the factors that hinder the adoption of sustainable agriculture technology innovation is the farmers’ perception on the innovation, which is influenced by internal and external factors. One of them is the limited availabilities of infra structure and facilities to support sustainable agricultural production, which are external factors. This research was aimed to analyz the farmers’ perception on the government support in implementing sustainable agriculture system, to find out factors that are related to the farmers’ perception and to produce recommendations that support sustainable agriculture system to the government in the context of sustainable agriculture mainstreaming. This research was conducted in four different areas in Bogor municipality and regency, namely Cimahpar District, Situgede District, Benteng Village, and Purwasari Village. Survey method was used on 201 farmers selected purposively. The results showed that farmers’ perception was negative on government support in implementing sustainable agriculture system. Most of the farmers considered that government provided less support to the implementation of sustainable agriculture system (55.7%). Especially, in providing enough capital (65.7%), insurance on farmers’ business market (58.7%), insurance on the price of business production facilities (51.7%), and insurance on the market (sold with reasonable price) (50.2%). However, factors that were related to the farmers’ perception were formal education (rs = 0.150, P<0.05) and land area (rs = -0.154, P<0.05). Therefore, it is important for the government to provide the farmers’ needs, such as suficient capital, guarantee on market price of farm product, price guarantee for farming production facilities, and market continuity to support sustainable business activities for the continuity of the farmers’ business activity application
Keragaman Morfologi Daun Padi Lokal Indonesia dan Korelasinya dengan Ketahanan Penyakit Hawar Daun Bakteri
Bacterial leaf blight (BLB) is one of the major diseases of rice plants mainly in irrigated rice caused by pathogenic bacteria Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo). Leaf morphology becomes an interesting character to be investigated due to its relationship with the intensity of BLB disease, because the leaf is the part of plant which is infected by the bacteria. The purpose of this research was to obtain information on the variability of leaf morphology and its correlation with BLB diseases, to support plant breeding program of BLB disease-resistant rice varieties. A total of 25 local rice accessions were characterized phenotypically. Leaf morphological characters were examined without replication, while in Xoo resistance (pathotype IV) test was done by using randomized block design with three replications. Characterization on leaf morphology indicated that all local rice accessions had green collar, transparent auricle color, white ligule color, and 2-cleft ligule shape. In four weeks after inoculation, four accessions (Ketan Lomah Hitam, Bumbuy Inih, Gonggoi, and Waren) showed disease severity percentages of BLB diseases on the range between 13-16%. These observations indicated that these accessions had slightly sussceptible response to BLB diseases wich were better than the other accessions. Leaf-surface morphology was positively correlated with BLB disease. The four accessions were feathery or slightly hairy with a short-sized leaf. The results of this research could be used as a reference for developing of BLB resistance rice varieties

Penilaian Sesbania sesban sebagai Spesies yang Diduga Invasif di Daerah Perkotaan Sangatta, Kalimantan Timur
Sangatta as the capital of East Kutai Regency is a rapidly growing urban area. The rapid growth and development of Sangatta resulted in the increase of open space. For this reason, the government and local communities tried to reforest the residential areas by planting many plant species. However, generally the chosen species were not the local ones and tended to be chosen based on the easiness of cultivation and aesthetic aspects. The popular species is janti (Sesbania sesban), which can be called as an alien species because of the lacks of records and information about its existence. The alien species spreading freely and uncontrolled could be potentially invasive. To prove it, an assessment needed to be held. One of procedure that can be used is assessment protocol issued by the nature serve organization, which determines the presence of an invasive type or species based on I-rank, which consists of four assessment categories, namely ecological impact, distribution status and abundance, distribution trends and abundance, and management difficulties. The research result showed that the presence status of Janti was invasive in the middle rank
