PENGARUH KARAKTER GANBARU TERHADAP ETOS KERJA PADA EKS-PEMAGANG DI JEPANG
Full text linkThe number of Indonesian workers who work abroad especially to Japan has given different working experience. These former apprentices intensively interacted with the Japanese who are working in Japanese firms so that they had little effect on the apprentices’ character. This study aims to describe how the work experience of the ex-apprentice in Japan has an effect on working ethic with the concepts of working culture in Japan especially ganbaru concept, after they returned to Indonesia. The approach used in this study is qualitative ethnographic. The results show that the experience of working with Japanese people influences the ex-apprentices’ character. The most influential concept is the culture of ganbaru (unyielding). The effect is seen in the time the ex-apprentices starts a business, they faced business constraints and they find a solution to be able to expand its business.  Keywords: former apprentices, ganbaru character, influence, working ethi

Full text linkThis research discusses the use of the conjunction markers in the students’ English narrative compositions. The aims of the research are to describe the use of the conjunction markers and to explain the mistakes of using the conjunction markers in English composition. The methods of the research are descriptive qualitative and distributional methods. The data were taken from the students’ narrative compositions and were analyzed by the researcher using theories of cohesion proposed by Halliday & Hasan (1976). The results of the research are firstly, the use of conjunction markers is “and, but, although, when, after, because and soâ€. Secondly some mistakes of using conjunction markers are found in repetition, omission and substition of conjunction markers, in missing of coma punctuation after conjunctions and omission of semantic relations among sentences. KONFLIK BATIN ZENCHI NAIGU DALAM CERPEN HANA KARYA AKUTAGAWA RYUUNOSUKE
Full text linkConflict is one thing we usually experience in our lives. This can be internal or external one.   This study is aimed at describing the internal conflict experienced by Zenchi Naigu. The source of data is Akutagawa Ryūnosuke’s short story entitled “Hana†(Nose). This conflict is analyzed using personality theory proposed by Freud, which includes Id, Ego, and Superego. In this theory, it is said that there is a conflict between Id and Superego which is caused by the unstable (weak) function of Ego. The steps to analyze the data are reading the short story, analyzing the conflict and interpreting the finding. The result showed that Zenchi Naigu experienced that conflict because of his desire to shorten his nose. TRAUMA DALAM NOVEL YU ZHEN
Full text link《余震》Yu Zhen or After Shock (2006) is a novel written by Zhang Ling, a Chinese woman writer who lives in Canada now. After Shock is a story about the great earthquake happened at Tangshan city, Hebei province, P.R.C in 1976. One interesting point to discuss from this novel is about Wan Xiaodeng’s emotional states and conditions as a main character, as well as an earthquake victim in this novel. Wan Xiaodeng not only suffers from physical trauma, but also suffers from acute psychological trauma.This psychological trauma existed from her childhood to adulthood. By psychological point of view, this writing is going to discuss Wan Xiaodeng’s symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, and impacts or responses to the surroundings. SATIRE POLITIK DAN AGAMA DALAM NOVEL GULLIVER'S TRAVELS OLEH JONATHAN SWIFT
Full text linkThe Age of Enlightenment spread in Western Europe, Britain and American colonies in the eighteenth century. This period put emphasis in scientific ideas, skepticism, and critics about the abuse of power done by government and church. Literary works in this period contain classical critics, such as the using of satire, good diction and couplet. Gulliver’s travels was written by Jonathan Swift in this period. He used the character named Gulliver who sailed to some imaginative islands, Swift criticized political and religious conditions in Britain through satires. This research discussed the correlation between Jonathan Swift as a satire writer with political and religious satires in Gulliver’s Travels. The purpose of this research was to know the political and religious problems in the age of enlightenment in Britain, to know the efforts of Jonathan Swift to criticize the conditions thorugh his satires. The method of this research used literary sociology to discuss the problems. It can be concluded that Swift criticized used Gulliver and his voyages to Liliput as a representation of political and religious problems in Britain in 18th century. The king’s minister, Walpole dominated the power to rule the government over King George II. While for the religious matters, the dispute caused by religious matters often asked many people’s lives. ANALISIS MORFOFONEMIS CASUAL SPEECH PADA KOMIK AISHIIRUDO VOLUME 1
Full text linkThis study is aimed at describing the morphophonemic analysis of the casual speech on the Aishiirudo 21 comic volume 26. This qualitative research uses Aishiirudo Comic 21 volume 26 as the source of the data. The data are in the form of 99 words belonging to casual speech. The data were analyzed using the framework proposed by Sutedi (2004: 118) by using the following steps: identifying the words belonging to casual speech, the morphophonemic processes of the words. The results showed that there are 4 morphophonemic processes found in the comic, they are 5 assimilation, 57 vowel combining, 19 vowel deletion, and 17 abbreviation. THE ABILITY OF INDIGO DANNY TO PREVENT FROM JACK TORRANCE’S MURDER IN STANLEY KUBRICK’S FILM THE SHINING
Full text link‘The Ability of Indigo Danny to Prevent from Jack Torrance’s Murder in Stanley Kubrick’s Film ‘The Shining’ directs him to find the signs that relate to the ability of Indigo in the film. Descriptive – qualitative method is used to find out the ability of Indigo Danny as an indigo to prevent from murder of his family in the film ‘The Shining’. Structural approach is used to find out the general description of Danny Torrance as the main character, conflicts and settings in the film, while semiotic approach is used to analyze the signs such as symbol, icon and index of Danny Torrance as the main character, which are represented by the Indigo Danny. The result shows that Danny Torrance is an unsociable, smart, indigo, curious and stubborn person. The conflicts happened are between himself, the woman in the room 237 and Jack Torrance. There were two kinds of setting used in this film, place and time that are described in this study. The signs represent Danny who has peculiar ability to prevent murder. By using his ability he knows that Jack Torrance wants to kill his family. Knowing that he prevents it by seeing the future, interacting with the ghost and telepathizing with Dick Halloran. MENGENAL KARAKTER MASYARAKAT JEPANG MELALUI KINESIK TOKOH UTAMA DORAMA “CHIBI MARUKO CHAN†: SUATU TINJAUAN SOSIOLINGUISTIK
Full text linkKinesics, as non verbal and non linguistic means of communication, is used to achieve interaction perfection or communication support. Kinesics has close relation with language behaviour influenced by certain culture in certain community, in this case Japanese community. This study used qualitative approach aiming at describing child kinetics occuring through main character of “Chibi Maruko Chan†drama. The techniques of data colection are library research and observation. While the techniques of data analysis are observing the child kinesics used in the drama, classifying, analysing and interpreting the finding. The result showed that in “Chibi Maruko Chan†drama, its main character, Maruko, besides using child kinesics, she also used general kinesics, while slang kinesics was not used. The functions of kinesics mostly used are complement, substitution, and repetition. Based on the kinesics performed, Japanese community have several characteristics, they are expressive, adore shame culture, tolerant, „aijou‟, harmonious, like forgiving/thanking, respect the quality, „koujoushin‟, and careful.Keywords:Character,culture, function, kinesics, non-verbal communication

Full text linkThis study examines internal conflict by Hanshiro Tsugumo and Chijiwa Motome. The purpose of this analysis is to know about internal conflict of Chijiwa Motome and Hanshiro Tsugumo. This analysis use data resources “Harakiri : Death of a Samurai†created by Takashi Miike. The problem of internal conflict of Chijiwa Motome and Hanshiro Tsugumo in the HARAKIRI : Death of a Samurai, where analyzed using personality theory including id, ego, superego. In the internal conflict there is a conflict between id and superego which its ego function is unstabil. Based on analysist result that Chijiwa Motome feel internal conflict because he want get a money to fixed his wife and baby, so he did false harakiri in the iyi‟s klan‟s place. Full text linkThe process of teaching and learning for nursing using TBLT and Soft-skills that suit the learner’s interests and needs contributed to facilitate students’ learning can prepare students for having English communication. The research aimed to find out the effectiveness of implementing the ENP learning model toward students’ English mastery and their Soft-skills improvement. The research employed experimental design using experimental class 40 students and control class 35 students in Semester 2 of year 2015/2016. The data collecting techniques were observation, documentation and questionnaire. The results showed the ENP model of ENP has significant influence on student nurses’ English mastery and their Soft-skills .Keywords: English for nursing purposes (ENP), task-based language teaching (TBLT) and Soft-skill
