A COMPARATIVE LITERATURE ON CHILDREN'S SHORT STORIES
Full text linkThere are many children’s short stories out there both in print media and e-media. This study proposes a comparison between Indonesian short stories in print media and American short stories in e-media. This research is qualitative and descriptive. The subject of research is eleven short stories, i.e. seven print-media Indonesian short stories and four e-media American short stories. The data collection method used is documentation and the data are analysed by using the Miles and Huberman techniques. The results indicate that the eleven children short stories carry good values that are in accordance with the character teaching, character building, and character shaping. One children’s short story teaches being helpful and caring for the environment and people around us while theothers teach being persistent and not easily giving up despite your failures.There is also a story that teaches being humble and not being arrogant. It is also found that the teaching is not always for the children, it could also be for the adults just like in one of the stories that teaches the adults for being patient in facing and handling the naughty children.Keywords: children short stories, comparative literature, character buildin

Sebagai cerminan perilaku, pemikiran dan pandangan manusia di alam nyata, maka karya sastra terbentuk dari unsur-unsur yang ada di dalamnya sebagai totalitas pembangun ceritanya. Adapun rangkaian unsur-unsur yang saling berkaitan tersebut dapat diteliti dengan menggunakan struktur naratif untuk mendapatkan runtutan jalan cerita. Tindak Tutur Mengeluh Bahasa Jepang: Studi Kasus dalam Film Great Teacher Onizuka (2012)
Full text linkThis research was conducted to find out the forms of speech act and strategies of complaint in Japanese language. The data were taken from a Japanese drama, "Great Teacher Onizuka (2012)". They were then divided in to two categorize based on the types of complaint strategies performed by male and female protagonists. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method with pragmatic approach. The data were analyzed by using Anna Trosborg’s (1995) theory of complaint strategies. Based on the research, the researcher found 8 complaint strategies, i.e. hints, annoyance, ill consequence, indirect accusation, direct accusation, modified blame, blame of the accused’s action and blame of the accused as a person. The researcher also found that gender differences affect the style of language when conveying the strategies of speech act of complaint.Â

Full text linkThis paper discusses the causes of dissociative identity disorder suffered by the character of Laurie inMark’s novel “All around the Townâ€by applying a literary psychological approach. The objective of this study is to disclose the causes of disassociative identity disorder in Laurie’s personality. This is a library research as as the whole data were taken from the text of the novel. The research method applied in this study was qualitive. Text method analysis was used to identify the causes of of disassociative identity disorder suffered byLaurie. This study applied literary psychological approach by adopting Dell’s and Putnam’s clinical psychology theories on Disassociative Identity Disorder. The results of the study show that the causes of the disassociative identity disorder in Laurie’s personality are the abusive treatments she suffered during her childhood time when she was kidnapped, the lateness of medical treatment, and the new severe trauma.Keywords: alternative identity, Dissociative identity disorder, psychological approac

Full text linkTourism in Indonesia has grown to become one of the important sectors in increasing the country's foreign exchange earnings. The increase in tourist visit targets proclaimed by the Ministry of Tourism is as many as 20 million tourist visits in 2019 requiring the tourism sector to improve and improve all facilities and infrastructure that can accommodate tourist visits.Tourism information in Indonesia is presented in a web-based data communication model. The web-based communication model with XML format certainly facilitates the complete data transfer. The XML format is more easily adapt to different technologies for each source of data has been collected so that all stakeholders in the tourism industry would easily fit on a system that has been made before, so that will further enhance the advancement of the tourism industry in Indonesia.              The ease of transacting information and data is due to using web service technology where this web service technology is a collaboration between a very good data management system without any problems between internal systems in each user. Web service technology was chosen because of the ease in exchanging information and communication between systems that currently use internet media with good security through data encryption. Information Systems in Indonesia currently use web services so as to provide information, data and transaction services in the tourism industry in Indonesia. Full text linkThis thesis discusses the substitutions of to and tara conjunction terms of grammatical meaning occour in Okuribito drama. It aims to analyze the substitution of to and tara. The data analysis was conducted by using distributional qualitative method with syntactic and semantic design based on Suzuki Shinoru’s theory. The results of reveal that to and tara conjunctions are mutually substitutable when they show the following meaning: general situation, habitual, hope, thought, and constancy. Full text linkThis study is aimed at knowing the process of developing website media in the the teaching of “Pemantapan Kemampuan Profesional Guru SD†using problem based-learning and blended learning.The subjects of this study are the students taking “Pemantapan Kemampuan Profesional Guru SD†course. The development method used in this study is the one proposed by Hoge, Tondore, and Marelli. The results showed that the media development application using website is appropriate to be used in the tutorial teaching in the classroom. It is proven by the validation result, that is the appropriateness between the indicator of concept, content, presentation, competence and the tutorial planning and syllabus, and also the tutorial materials of “Pemantapan Kemampuan Profesional†course. There are also positive responds from the students after this website media is implemented. This also motivates the students in joining the tutorial. Full text linkThis thesis is entitled Nathaniel’s Ambition to Revenge on SimonLovelace Described in Jonathan Stroud’s The Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amuletof Samarkand has an objective to analyze ambition and motive of Nathanielalias John Mandrake to revenge on Simon Lovelace as his enemy. Theresearcher used descriptive qualitative method to find out Ambition and motiveof Nathaniel alias John Mandrake after Humiliated by Simon Lovelace. Whilelibrary research method was used to gain any references dealing with the objectof analysis. Technique of analysis is divided into two, there are structural andpsychology approach. Structural approach was used to analyze structuralelements like general description, conflict, and setting, while psychologicalapproach was used to analyze and describe problems dealing with the object ofstudy. The collected data were analyzed by reading the novel. The researcherpresents all the data by the quotation through general description, conflict andsetting. The results of this research show that the main character is described asa person who is genius, clever, restless, arrogant, and curious. He belongs toround dynamic character since he has more than one specific traits and he alsochanges from the beginning till the end of the story. The main character alsoexperiences internal conflict about him admitting the truth about who steal theamulet, to disobey his master, blame himself and also external conflict againsthis master, Bartimaeus, Maurice Schyler, The Resistance and Simon Lovelace.The setting in this novel is divided into setting of place; Attic room, SirUnderwood house, Boarded-up building, Heddleham Hall, Small library andThe hall of Heddleham Hall, setting of time; morning in boarded-up building,10.15 am and setting of social on high social class. Nathaniel alias JohnMandrake's ambition is motivated by humiliation and murder drives him to gaineverything that needs to commit revenge. Nilai Estetika dan Cita Rasa Makanan dalam Penyajian Makizuki Musim Gugur pada TV Champion Jepang
Full text linkThis research discusses the aesthetic value and taste of the food served in autumn makizushi as shown in TV Champion Japan. It aims to find out the aesthetic value and taste of autumn makizushi, because there are several types of sushi based on the season they are served. The video data were taken from the first episode of Sushi King series of TV Champion, produced by TV Tokyo Japan. The type of this study is descriptive qualitative. The result of the study show that there are several characteristics of aesthetically served makizushi, i.e.; unity, symmetry, harmony, balance and contrast. Pemerolehan Bahasa dan Budaya Indonesia Penutur Asing melalui Cerita Rakyat
Full text linkThis paper aims to explain the effectiveness of the use of teaching materials in the form of folklore for foreign speakers of Indonesian language, in an effort to gain knowledge about the language and culture of Indonesia. The learning method of Indonesian for foreign speakers, known as BIPA, used is direct method because the class is heterogeneous. In addition to the acquisition of four language skills, which are listening, reading, speaking, and writing; foreign speakers of Indonesian as a learner also managed to get five of the seven cultural elements as proposed by Koentjaraningrat. These five cultural elements are language, knowledge systems, social systems or social organizations, living or technology equipment systems, and living systems of livelihood. Therefore, I assumed that the use of folklore or other literary works can be continued and developed as teaching materials in BIPA’s learning
