Participatory mapping of the potential landscape services of forest village area in Pattaneteang, Bantaeng Regency
Hutan merupakan salah satu sumber jasa lanskap yang penting bagi keberlanjutan ekosistem. Kementerian Kehutanan telah memberikan akses kepada masyarakat desa untuk mengelola kawasan hutan secara legal, melalui skema hutan desa dengan hak akses pengelolaan selama 35 tahun. Pemetaan partisipatif adalah jenis partisipasi publik yang mencakup pembuatan dan/atau penggunaan informasi spasial untuk berbagai tujuan. Data spasial memungkinkan identifikasi hubungan antara jasa lanskap dan karakteristik lanskap serta unit administratifnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan identifikasi potensi karakteristik dan potensi jasa lanskap kawasan Hutan Desa Pattaneteang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis spasial yang dilakukan pada peta penggunaan lahan berdasarkan citra drone di Desa Pattaneteang dan metode kualitatif berupa wawancara terstruktur, kuesioner, dan diskusi kelompok terarah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas jasa lanskap keanekaragaman hayati dan karbon tersimpan di Desa Pattaeneteang berada dalam tingkatan “sangat baik”, memiliki peran ekonomi bernilai tinggi dengan total skor 9 pada Hutan Desa Pemanfaatan. Total nilai skoring peran budaya Hutan Desa Pattanateang yaitu 4 untuk kawasan Hutan Desa Sengketa dan Hutan Desa Pemanfataan, yang artinya bernilai budaya rendah dan nilai 5 untuk kawasan Hutan Desa Inti artinya bernilai budaya sedang.
Forests are a source of landscape services that are important for the sustainability of ecosystems. The Ministry of Forestry has provided access to village communities to manage forest areas legally, through a village forest scheme with management access rights for 35 years. Participatory mapping is a type of public participation that includes the creation and/or use of spatial information for various purposes. Spatial data allows the identification of relationships between landscape services and landscape characteristics and administrative units. This study aims to identify the potential characteristics and service potentials of the Pattaneteang Village Forest area. The method used in this research is spatial analysis carried out on land use maps based on drone images in Pattaneteang Village and qualitative methods in the form of structured interviews, questionnaires, and focus group discussions. The results showed the quality of landscape services for biodiversity and stored carbon in the Village of Pattaeneteang was in the “very good” level, having a high-value economic role with a total score of 9 in Utilization Village Forest. The total score of the cultural role of the Pattanateang Village Forest is 4 for the Disputed Village Forest and the Utilization Village Forest, which means that it has low cultural value and a value of 5 for the Core Village Forest area which means moderate cultural value
The pandemic COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta: An economic and environmental impact model with a systems thinking approach
Wabah COVID-19 telah menimbulkan kekhawatiran secara global. WHO telah menyatakannya kejadian ini sebagai darurat kesehatan global. Mudahnya penyebaran virus ini tidak hanya berdampak secara kesehatan tetapi juga berdampak pada ekonomi, lingkungan, dan sosial yang sangat besar bagi seluruh populasi manusia. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang kejadian epidemi suatu penyakit seperti pandemi COVID-19 yang saat ini menjadi perhatian masyarakat di seluruh dunia dengan pendekatan systems thinking menggunakan metode system dynamics. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa jumlah kasus COVID-19 di DKI Jakarta akan terus meningkat secara eksponensial jika tidak dilakukan intervensi. Total biaya perawatan dan pengobatan yang timbul jika tidak ada intervensi adalah 3,4 triliun rupiah. Di sisi lain, kerugian ekonomi yang timbul karena adanya kebijakan pembatasan aktivitas aktivitas masyaraka mencapai 415 milyar. Sedangkan dampak lingkungan yang ditimbulkan dari peningkatan kasus ini adalah limbah medis di lingkungan meningkat mencapai 45.200 tonWHO has been assessing this COVID-19 outbreak as a global health emergency. The easy spread of this virus posing enormous health, economic, environmental, and social challenges to the entire human population. This paper aims to provide an understanding of the incidence of epidemics of a disease such as the COVID-19 pandemic which is currently a concern of people around the world with a system thinking approach using a system dynamics method. The number cases of COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta will continue to increase if intervention is not carried out with exponential growth behavior. The total cost of care and medication without intervention is 3.4 trillion rupiah. In other hand, economic loss arising from restricting activity policy reached 415 billion rupiah. Meanwhile, the environmental impact also caused in this case is increasing medical waste in the environment reaching 45,200 tons
The VULNERABILITY OF SALT FARMER HOUSES IN DONGGOBOLO VILLAGE DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGES
This study aims to determine the vulnerability of salt farmer households due to climate change in Donggobolo Village. Weather anomalies resulting from climate change causes floods and droughts which negatively affect household livelihoods. The method for assessing the vulnerability of salt farmer households in this study is the LVI (Livelihood Vulnerability Index) analysis, LVI-IPCC, and descriptive analysis. LVI analysis uses seven components of vulnerability which include climate variability, food, water, health, socio-demographic profile, livelihood strategies, and social networks. The calculation of the overall value of the LVI components shows that the salt farmer household in Donggobolo Village is closer to the scale value for the most vulnerable conditions, with an index value of 0.333. The value of the climate variability component is the dominant value in the LVI, which is equal to 0.759. Based on the grouping of the seven LVI indicators into the IPCC vulnerability components (exposure, adaptive capacity, and sensitivity), the final score is 0.172. The large value of exposure compared to adaptive capacity causes household conditions to be closer to vulnerable conditions.
 
Spectral Pattern of Paddy as Response to Drought Condition: An Experimental Study
Every single physical object has a different response to the electromagnetic wave emitted to it. The response is in the form of how it absorbs and reflects the energy in every range of wavelength. The absorption and reflection curve is known as a spectral pattern. The spectral pattern of each object can be used to determine the object. In agriculture, the spectral pattern of plants can be used to determine the health condition of the plant. Drought is one factor that can affect the health of the plant. By identifying the spectral pattern of the plants, the effect of drought on paddy can be identified. This experimental study tried to identify the spectral pattern of some varieties of paddy and different growth stages. A spectrophotometer with a wavelength range of 350-1052 nm was used. Four varieties of paddy were planted in a greenhouse and being treated in drought conditions from the stage of vegetative, generative, and reproductive. Based on the result, the spectral response from the generative phase of all varieties gave the most different pattern compared to the control. This result compromising the rapid detection of paddy fields affected by drought using optical remote sensing data. Especially for plants in the stage of generative
Role of leadership and local culture in COVID-19 control in Bali Province, Indonesia
Peningkatan kasus positif COVID-19 di Indonesia sejak Tahun 2020 lalu memunculkan berbagai upaya penanggulangan termasuk pencegahannya. Salah satunya melalui pendekatan budaya maupun kearifan lokal yang berbeda antara satu daerah dengan daerah lainnya seperti halnya Provinsi Bali. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menggali pengalaman Bali dalam menanggulangi COVID-19 dari sudut pandang budaya dan kearifan lokal. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan metode wawancara mendalam terhadap BPBD Provinsi Bali dan Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Bali. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa Provinsi Bali memiliki pendekatan keagamaan yang cukup kuat dimulai dari hupokara yaitu kejadian bencana diyakini menjadi kekuatan yang luar biasa melalui upacara keagamaan di pura. upacara niskala yakni pemberian sesajen bagi keselamatan dan kesehatan bagi penduduk Provinsi Bali. Masyarakat Bali menilai virus COVID-19 dapat dikendalikan dengan upakara, sesajen. Adanya pecalang sebagai satuan pengamanan adat yang dipatuhi oleh masyarakat Bali turut mendukung keberhasilan penanganan COVID19. Keunikan Provinsi Bali dalam hal pemanfaatan kearifan lokal, menggerakkan Desa Adat, gotong royong berbasis adat berupa gugus tugas tingkat Desa Adat dan didukung oleh kepemimpinan yang baik dari Gubernur Bali menentukan keberhasilan Provinsi Bali dalam menangani COVID-19.The increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia since 2020 has led to various control measures, including prevention. One of them is through cultural approach and local wisdom that differs from one region to another, such as the one applied in Bali Province. The purpose of the study was to explore Bali’s experience in dealing with COVID-19 from the perspective of culture and local wisdom. A qualitative approach was used in this study using in-depth interviews with the Bali Provincial DisasterControl Office (Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah, BPBD) and the Bali Provincial Health Office. Results of this study showed that the Bali Province has a strong religious approach, consisting of hupokara, which isthe faith in the Creator as disaster is believed to be a tremendous force that has to be managed through a ceremony called niskala, which giving offerings to God for health and safety of the people of Bali Province. The Balinese believe that the COVID-19 virus can be controlled with rituals and offerings. The presence of Pecalang as a traditional security unit looked up to and obeyed by the Balinese people also supports the successful management of COVID-19. The unique approach of Bali Province that is based on the local wisdom through mobilizing Traditional Villages, promoting custom-based cooperation through the formation of a task force at the Traditional Village level, and with good leadership from the Governorof Bali has led to successful COVID-19 control in Bali Province. Bali has learned from the COVID-19 pandemic that togetherness and mutual cooperation among people are needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 inthe province. 
Perceptions of Thermal Comfort Felt by People in the Kalijodo Green Open Space
Ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo memiliki luasan lahan bervegetasi hanya sebesar 48 %. Ruang terbuka hijau yang ideal, memiliki luasan lahan bervegetasi sebesar 80-90 % dari total luasannya. Hal ini mengakibatkan nilai indeks kenyamanan termal yang ada di ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo, yaitu sebesar 30,75. Kondisi ini membuat ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo berstatus sangat tidak nyaman, padahal indeks kenyamanan termal berkategori nyaman di suatu tempat, ada diangka 29 kebawah. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis persepsi kenyamanan termal yang dirasakan masyarakat saat ada di ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo. Metode analisis deskriptif digunakan untuk menelaah setiap informasi yang diperoleh dari pengolahan data dari angket/kuesioner yang diisi oleh 50 responden. Hasil penelitian terhadap persepsi kenyamanan termal ini, menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 24 responden merasa sangat tidak nyaman, 14 responden merasa nyaman, dan 12 responden merasa tidak nyaman saat ada di ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas masyarakat yang ada di ruang terbuka hijau dan sejalan dengan hasil penelitian mengenai kenyamanan termal di ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo yang ada dalam kategori sangat tidak nyaman. Kondisi ruang terbuka hijau Kalijodo yang kurang lahan vegetasinya, mengakibatkan nilai indeks kenyamanan termal yang sangat tidak nyaman, sehingga masyarakat yang ada disana, ikut merasakan ketidaknyamanan.Kalijodo green open space has vegetated area 48 %. The ideal green open space, has vegetated area 80-90 % of total area. The results of the thermal comfort index in the Kalijodo green open space is 30.75. This condition makes the Kalijodo green open space in very uncomfortable status, and the thermal comfort index is categorized as comfortable is in 29 and below. This research was conducted to determine and analyze the perception of thermal comfort that felt by the public in the green open space of Kalijodo. Descriptive analysis method is used to examine any information obtained from data processing from questionnaires filled out by 50 respondents. The results of this research on the perception of thermal comfort show that as many as 24 respondents felt very uncomfortable, 14 respondents felt comfortable, and 12 respondents felt uncomfortable when they were in the green open space of Kalijodo. These results indicate that the majority of people living in green open spaces are in line with the results of research on thermal comfort in the Kalijodo green open space which is in the very uncomfortable category. The condition of the Kalijodo green open space, which lacks vegetation, results in a very uncomfortable thermal comfort index value, so that the people there also feel the discomfort
Prediksi Luas Kebakaran Hutan dan Lahan pada Tahun 1997-2005 Akibat Faktor Antropogenik Menggunakan Data CMIP5
Kebakaran hutan dan lahan (Karhutla) merupakan sebuah bencana lokal dan nasional tahunan yang ada di Indonesia. Kebakaran hutan dan lahan secara garis besar dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor, yaitu terjadi karena alami (Natural forcing) dan/atau aktivitas manusia (Anthropogenic forcing). Aktivitas manusia tersebut melepaskan sejumlah besar karbon dioksida (CO2), karbon monoksida (CO), metana (CH4), oksidanitrat, nitrogen dioksida (NOx) dan partikulat yang bertindak sebagai sumber pemanasan rumah kaca yang telah dipantau oleh satelit beberapa tahun terakhir. Penelitian ini mengkaji luas karhutla dalam beberapa dekade terakhir akibat pengaruh faktor antropogenik di Kalimantan menggunakan dua jenis kelompok data yang akan dianalisa yaitu data tanpa dan dengan komponen antropogenik. Analisa dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan data luaran CMIP5. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan statistik teknik Random Forests (RF) untuk mengevaluasi kontribusi faktor iklim dan antropogenik terhadap luas karhutla di daerah Kalimantan. Kondisi umum luas karhutla berdasarkan data observasi yang diperoleh dari data GFED. Dua luas tertinggi yang terjadi di Kalimantan selama periode 1997 hingga 2005 terjadi pada tahun 1997 dan 2002 Menurut ketiga model pada tahun 1997 dan 2002 terlihat bahwa faktor antropogenik memberikan pengaruh lebih dominan terhadap luas karhutla di Kalimantan. Pada tahun 1997 dan 2002 luas karhutla akibat pengaruh antropogenik bernilai positif (menyebabkan luas karhutla meningkat).Forest and land fires are an annual local and national disaster that occurs in Indonesia. Forest and land fires are influenced by two factors, are natural forcing and /or anthropogenic forcing (human activity). Human activity releases large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4), oxidantrates, nitrogen dioxide (NOx) and particulates which act as sources of greenhouse warming that have been monitored by satellites in recent years. This study will examine the burn area of forest and land fires in recent decades due to the influence of anthropogenic factors in Kalimantan using two types of data groups to be analyzed, namely data without and with anthropogenic components. Analysis by utilizing output data from the CMIP5. This study uses a statistical approach to the technique of Random Forests (RF) to evaluate the contribution of climate and anthropogenic factors to the extent of forest and land fires in the Kalimantan region. General conditions of forest and land fires are based on observational data obtained from GFED data. The two highest areas that occurred in Kalimantan during the period 1997 to 2005 occurred in 1997 and 2002. According to the three models in 1997 and 2002 it was seen that anthropogenic factors had a more dominant influence on the extent of forest and land fires in Kalimantan. In 1997 and 2002 the extent of forest and land fires due to anthropogenic influences was positive (causing extensive forest and land fires to increase)
Nitrous oxide emission from conservation forest of Kampar Peninsula peatland ecosystem: Emisi gasN2O dari hutan konservasi lahan gambut Semenanjung Kampar
Nitrogen oksida (N2O) adalah gas rumah kaca yang berumur panjang dan memiliki potensi pemanasan 300 kali lebih tinggi dari CO2. Pelestarian hutan rawa gambut dapat mempertahankan sifat fisik dan kimia tanah pada kondisi alaminya, sehingga emisi N2O terjadi secara alami. Dalam upaya mengkuantifikasi emisi N2O dari ekosistem lahan gambut, ketersediaan data sangat dibutuhkan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur emisi N2O dari hutan konservasi, dan untuk memahami faktor-faktor utama yang mengendalikannya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari bulan Januari sampai Desember 2020 di Semenanjung Kampar, Kabupaten Pelalawan, Provinsi Riau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan emisi N2O pada hutan konservasi lahan gambut sebesar 0.23 ± 0.19 kg-N/ha/tahun. Perubahan subtansial pada tinggi muka air tanah, suhu tanah, kelembapan tanah, ruang pori terisi air, NH4-N and NO3-N secara signifikan mempengaruhi pertukaran gas N2O antara lahan gambut dan atmosfer.Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a long-lived greenhouse gas with a warming potential of 300 times higher than CO2. Conserving of intact peat swamp forest can hold the natural physical and chemical properties of the soil, such that the N2O emission occurs naturally. To quantify N2O emission from peatland ecosystems, data availability is highly needed. The objectives of this study were to quantify the emission of N2O and determine the main factors controlling N2O emission from peatland conservation forests. This research was conducted from January to December 2020 in the Kampar Peninsula, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. This study found that N2O emission at peatland conservation forest was 0.23 ± 0.19 kg-N/ha/year. Substantial changes in soil and environmental factors such as water table, soil temperature, soil moisture, water-filled pore space, NH4-N, and NO3-N significantly affect the exchange of N2O between peatlands and the atmosphere
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in oil palm plantations using a life cycle assessment approach
Pertumbuhan perkebunan kelapa sawit di Indonesia mengalami peningkatan yang cukup pesat. Dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan akibat pertumbuhan perkebunan kelapa sawit ini adalah kerusakan lingkungan dan peningkatan emisi gas rumah kaca (GRK). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sumber emisi GRK dari kegiatan perkebunan kelapa sawit dan memberikan alternative untuk mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca melalui pemanfaatan kembali limbah padat dan cair sebagai substitusi pupuk anorganik. Metode yang digunakan adalah penilaian siklus daur hidup (LCA) berdasarkan framework ISO 14040. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa rata-rata emisi GRK yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan perkebunan kelapa sawit adalah 0.08 TCO2e/TTBS/Tahun. Kegiatan pemupukan mempunyai kontribusi cukup tinggi yaitu rata-rata emisi GRK yang dihasilkan adalah 0.07 TCO2e/TTBS/Tahun. Untuk mengurangi emisi GRK yaitu dengan mengoptimalkan penggunaan pupuk organic yang berasal dari limbah produksi CPO berupa limbah cair kelapa sawit (LCPKS) dan janjang kosong kelapa sawit (JJK). Penggunaan LCPKS sebagai pupuk organik berpotensi mengurangi emisi GRK sebesar 0.015 TCO2e/TTBS atau setara dengan 17.03%, sementara penggunaan JJK berpotensi mengurangi emisi GRK sebesar 0.029 TCO2e/TTBS atau setara dengan 33.98%. Optimalisasi penggunaan LCPKS dan JJK sebagai pupuk organik memberikan dampak yang signifikan untuk mengurangi emisi GRK dalam kegiatan perkebunan kelapa sawit.The growth of palm oil plantation in Indonesia has increased rapidly. Behind that rapid growth of palm oil comodities, negative issues and problems have emerged such as operation of palm oil plantation are caused of enviroment damage and the increasing of Greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions. This study aims to analyze GHG emissions caused by palm oil plantation activities and provide an alternative to reduce GHG emissions through the reuse of solid and liquid waste as a substitute for inorganic fertilizers. The method used is a life cycle assessment based on the ISO 14040 framework. This study found that the average of GHG\u27s emission was 0.08 TCO2e/TFFB/Year. Fertilizing activities contributes the large amount of emissions of 0.07 TCO2e/TFFB/Year. Solutions to reduce GHG\u27s emission with optimize the use of remains organic fertilizer from CPO production process which is utilize the liquid waste and empty fruit bunch. The results from calculation of liquid waste utilization as fertilizer can be potential to reduct the GHG\u27s emission which produce is 0.015 TCO2eq/T TBS or equivalent to 17.03 % mean a while the utilication of FFB can potentially decrease GHG\u27s emission by 0.029 TCO2eq/T TBS or equivalent to 33.98%. The optimization of liquid waste and FFB make a sigfnificant in terms of reduction GHG\u27s emission in palm oil plantation
The impact of nitrifying probiotic to population growth of pathogenic bacteria, Vibrio sp., and toxic nitrogen gasses in marine shrimp culture media under laboratory condition
Intensification of shrimp farming has led to problems of water quality and development of pathogenic bacteria. The excess feed and fecal deposited in the bottom of the pond undergo ammonification and result in excess of ammonia formation in pond water and sediment. The purposes of this research was to investigate the impact nitrifying bacteria application on the controlling of pathogenic Vibrio sp. bacteria and toxic nitrogen gasses. Twelve (12) transparent glass bottles (effective volume of 3 L) were used in this research. Tested probiotic was purchased in free market and producer claims to contain Nitrosomonas sp., Nitrosococcus sp., Nitrobacter sp., Bacillus sp., Aerobacter sp., and Pseudomonas sp. The tested media was sea water containing Vibrio sp., TAN, NO2 and NO3 of 54.07 ± 2.93 mg/L; 6.33 ± 0.17 mg/L; 2.43 ± 0.04 mg/L; and 0.46 ± 0.01 mg/L respectively. The treatment of probiotic was 0 mg/L as a control; 0.1 mg/L; 0.2 mg/L; and 0.4 mg/L with 3 replications. In regard to concentration of Vibrio sp., NH3 and NO2 gasses, treatment doses of 0.1 mg/L (A) resulted a save level within 4 days after treatment, but to more secure in the practical work for shrimp farm, the doses of 0.2 mg/L (B) is suggested
