Digital Transformation and Operational Productivity of Maritime Transport Enterprises: Evidence from Global and Indonesian Contexts
This study examines the influence of digital transformation on the operational productivity of maritime transport enterprises, integrating both global evidence and Indonesian maritime sector data. Using panel data from 58 maritime companies over 2018–2024, we apply quantitative regression analyses to assess the elasticity between digital integration and key operational outcomes, including fuel efficiency, voyage duration, and port turnaround time. The results indicate a significant positive elasticity of 0.42 between digitalization indices—encompassing blockchain-based logistics, artificial intelligence-assisted scheduling, and smart gate systems—and productivity growth. Firms adopting advanced digital tools demonstrate a 15–22 percent improvement in energy cost efficiency and a 10–14 percent reduction in carbon emissions, corroborating literature on maritime decarbonization, green supply chains, and smart port operations. Moreover, mediation analyses reveal that digital maturity significantly enhances the effectiveness of fuel management and scheduling systems, while robust governance and risk management frameworks amplify these effects. These findings provide actionable insights for policymakers and maritime managers seeking to enhance sustainable operational performance through structured digital adoption
Infrastructure Financing: Trends, Challenges, and Future Directions
Purpose: Infrastructure financing is critical for global development, yet it remains constrained by challenges such as funding deficits, regulatory complexities, and the need for sustainable and technologically driven solutions. The review aims to explore trends, challenges, and future directions in infrastructure financing, providing a comprehensive synthesis of current knowledge and identifying gaps for further research.
Methodology: This systematic literature review (SLR) adopts the PSALSAR methodology—Protocol development, Search, Appraisal, Literature synthesis, Analysis, and Report writing—to analyse 72 peer-reviewed studies published between 2014 and 2024.
Findings: A structured search across academic databases yielded relevant literature, which was rigorously appraised against predefined inclusion criteria. The thematic analysis revealed key trends, including the growing reliance on public-private partnerships (PPPs), the integration of digital technologies like fintech and blockchain, and the emergence of green financing instruments such as green bonds and Islamic bonds. Key challenges identified include inadequate risk-sharing mechanisms, regulatory inconsistencies, and socio-political uncertainties. Also, 75% of the studies on infrastructure financing are dominated by articles from developing countries. This SLR recognizes knowledge gaps in relation to the context, theory and content for future research.

Financial Distress Analysis to Predict the Bankruptcy Rate of State-Owned Banks Using the Altman Z–Score Method
Purpose: Bankruptcy is the inability of a company to continue its operations due to a decline in its financial condition and has liabilities or debts that are greater than the value of its assets. This study aims to predict the level of bankruptcy of state-owned banks using the Altman Z – Score method.
Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a quantitative research approach with the Z – Score method. The data used is secondary data in the form of state-owned commercial bank financial reports for the period 2019 – 2021 which are listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), taken from the official website at www.idx.co.id. The variables used consist of 4 independent variables and 1 dependent variable, namely Working Capital to Total Assets (X1), Retained Earnings to Total Assets (X2), Earnings Before Interest and Taxes to Total Assets (X3) and Book Value of Equity to Book Values of Debt (X4) and analysis index Z – Score (Z).
Findings: The results of the Z – Score calculation, the four banks in this study are in the Gray Area and Distress Area categories because working capital, retained earnings and operating profits are smaller than their total assets, and the amount of debt is greater than their total equity. The chance of bankruptcy will be even greater if the company's management does not immediately make improvements or evaluate the company's financial condition.
