Supporting Policy Definition in the e-Health domain: a QCA based method
eHealth is broadly considered as a promising strategy to improve the economic sustainability and quality of the healthcare service provision in Europe. Nevertheless, despite the enthusiastic declarations of eHealth potential, the adoption of IT in health care has progressed very slowly. A critical factor, not deeply addressed in literature, is related to the process of prioritization of the eHealth solution to adopt, in presence of financial constrains, external and internal pressure from a wide range of heterogeneous stakeholders, and conflicting information on different technological solutions. In this paper we introduce a method supporting policy definition in the eHealth domain. This method is based on a qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) of best practices and previous experiences performed through the lens of an analytic framework whose dimensions and categories are well situated in the eHealth context. This method could support policy-makers in the identification of the properties and characteristics of innovative projects at European level and to analyze the gap between the international scenario and the local context in order to understand trends and dynamics of development, to evaluate the best opportunities for innovation and, therefore, to assign priorities for the next investments by respecting the constraints of available resources.eHealth is broadly considered as a promising strategy to improve the economic sustainability and quality of the healthcare service provision in Europe. Lowest Unique Bid Auctions
We consider a class of auctions (Lowest Unique Bid Auctions) that have achieved a considerable success on the Internet. Bids are made in cents (of euro) and every bidder can bid as many numbers as she wants. The lowest unique bid wins the auction. Every bid has a fixed cost, and once a participant makes a bid, she gets to know whether her bid was unique and whether it was the lowest unique. Information is updated in real time, but every bidder sees only what's relevant to the bids she made. We show that the observed behavior in these auctions differs considerably from what theory would prescribe if all bidders were fully rational. We show that the seller makes money, which would not be the case with rational bidders, and some bidders win the auctions quite often. We describe a possible strategy for these bidders. We consider a class of auctions (Lowest Unique Bid Auctions) that have achieved a considerable success on the Internet. Technology and Organization: a Case of Mutual Adaptation in the Arhcaeological Sector
In the archaeological sector, information about finds and related documents is highly relevant, but no information system (IS) is available to manage it. Professionals working in the field are often not used to managing information by means of technology and, moreover, work practices are not standardized. The in-troduction of a new IS to track events and record information in such an environ-ment is therefore a big challenge. An adaptation between technology and organi-zation is then to be expected, in order to find an appropriate form of integration. By adopting a structuration theory perspective, this work analyses the case of a project in which an IS to manage finds was designed, experimented with, dis-cussed, and then developed. In the archaeological sector, information about finds and related documents is highly relevant, but no information system (IS) is available to manage it. Globalization, Pass-Through and Inflation Dynamic
An important aspect of the globalization process is the increase in interdependence among countries
through the deepening of trade linkages. This process should increase competition in each destination
market and change the pricing behavior of firms. We present an extension of Dornbusch (1987)’s
model to analyze the extent to which globalization, interpreted as an increase in the number of foreign
products in each destination market, modifies the slope and the position of the New-Keynesian
aggregate-supply equation and, at the same time, affects the degree of exchange-rate pass-through. We
provide empirical evidence that supports the results of our model. An important aspect of the globalization process is the increase in interdependence among countries

La festa è finita: a proposito di relazioni industriali italiane e competizione globale
The essay investigates the limits of the Italian system of industrial relations in face of global competition. After deepening the features of the protocol signed on January 22, 2009, by which social parties have established the opting out principle allowing company collective agreements to derogate some disciplines foreseen in national collective contracts with the aim of avoiding corporate crises, increasing employment levels or attracting new investment, the paper analyses in detail the reasons why this protocol was not implemented at the level of individual companies. In this perspective and after analyzing some domestic disputes such as Fiat Pomigliano dispute, the work deepens some of the reforms which gradually shifted the centre of gravity of collective bargaining at the enterprise level in Germany. The essay investigates the limits of the Italian system of industrial relations in face of global competition.
