ICT Adoption and Organizational Change. An Innovative Training System on Industrial Automation Systems for enhancing competitiveness of SMEs
The purpose of this paper is to introduce and discuss the benefits of on-line training on automation and innovation fields and try to explain their organizational impact on small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Besides it tries to understand what are the main barriers for SMEs with respect to the realisation of their innovative potential and their capacity to improve internal processes by ICT adoption and organizational change. They are becoming particularly important for achieving greater productivity, lower operational costs, and higher revenues (usually characterized by reduced access to external finance, unavailability of wider distribution channels, low internationalization, etc.). The purpose of the paper is also to synthetize the experience done and the benefits of e-learning and of a specific online environment in the training process in this field. The project provides training contents to enhance participants background and some innovative simulations to improve knowledge of employees on industrial automation systems. The purpose of this paper is to introduce and discuss the benefits of on-line training on automation and innovation fields and try to explain their organizational impact on small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). Decoupling the implementation processes of Corporate Environmental Management in the Danish Hospitality Industry. An Explorative Analysis
Organizations are progressively being pressured by stakeholders to acknowledge and
achieve their interests. Conflicts can arise where multiple stakeholders have differing
interests, especially if certain stakeholder groups are prioritized above others when
decisions are made about the allocation of scarce resources. Consequentially, it is
argued that not all stakeholders can be satisfied simultaneously. Responding to
stakeholder concerns for environmental preservation is a relatively recent requirement
for managers, who face a great deal of ambiguity in understanding the issues in general,
the implications for their organizations, and the ways to respond to these issues.
This study is concerned with the general area of organizational sensemaking,
stakeholder theory and environmental management. More attention should be given to
effective actions and processes that facilitate this kind of interactions as the
sensemaking and sensegiving literature do but in regarding of stakeholders. The overall
aim of the study is to investigate and evaluate the impact of stakeholders’ engagement
in making sense of environmental issues through as a result of implementation of
Corporate Environmental Management practices.
The empirical analysis is based on a qualitative case study approach. To address the
nature of the research problem a qualitative approach using in-depth-semi-structured
interviews as the data collection method was deemed to be the most appropriate
methodology for gaining an understanding how the processes of sense making influence
stakeholders relations.
Therefore the idea is to study, in the Danish Hospitality Industry how companies
(hotels) implement their Corporate Environmental Management practices engaging with
stakeholders in different sensemaking activities. Case study research is preferable in this
context, since it allows the investigation to retain the holistic and important uniqueness
of daily events (Yin, 1994). That is why the choice of the industry and of the cases is so
important. The aim of the study is to understand the internal and external dynamics that
facilitate the implementation of Corporate Environmental Management Practices so
both practitioners and academics can use my results to orientate future directions of
studies and works on this topic.Organizations are progressively being pressured by stakeholders to acknowledge and

International Knowledge Transfer: an integrated analysis of antecedents, consequences and time patterns of the FDI knowledge spillover effect
This thesis is concerned with the process of international knowledge transfer mediated by multinational corporations’ Foreign Direct Investment. Answering to International Business scholars’ recent call for a deeper analysis of the multinational firms’ strategic behaviour at the level of the subsidiary, it explores the theoretical drivers behind the active role foreign subsidiaries can play in influencing the process of knowledge dissemination within the host-location.
Using two different datasets on foreign subsidiaries’ local innovative activity and business linkages with domestic suppliers and distributors, the empirical analysis lends support for established theorizing about multinational firms’ trade-off between the opportunity to learn from the host-environment and the risk to lose control over their proprietary knowledge assets, due to the local spillover effect. Moreover, shifting the focus of the analysis from the head-quarter to the foreign subunits, the results reveal that subsidiaries actively manage these knowledge flows within their host-locations, to the aim of fostering incoming information (in terms of both technology and knowledge of the local business network and market), while at the same time restricting outward spillovers.
It is also shown that, in order to manage these knowledge flows, foreign subsidiaries adapt their investment in local interaction with domestic firms to both internal and external factors. More specifically, the results suggest that increasing competitive pressure fosters the importance of sourcing resources for innovation from the local context. However, when competition becomes too high, subsidiaries tend to lower the extent of close interaction with local counterparts, in order to protect their competitive assets from the increased risk of knowledge spillover in the external environment. Furthermore, this relationship is moderated by the extent to which the subsidiaries possess relevant competitive assets. In other words, especially capable subsidiaries in very competitive environments tend to shy away from strong interaction with local firms, since under such circumstances the risk of spillovers is larger than the potential benefits of learning.
This thesis also makes a theoretical contribution by combining International Business literature with Open Innovation perspectives to develop a framework for the analysis of the time patterns of the knowledge flows between foreign and domestic firms. Specifically, it motivates the importance – for firms’ competitiveness - of evaluating the speed at which this phenomenon takes place. This thesis is concerned with the process of international knowledge transfer mediated by multinational corporations’ Foreign Direct Investment. La riforma delle relazioni industriali alla prova della competizione sindacale
The essay investigates how the controversial dispute connected to the subscription of Fiat collective bargaining for the relaunch of productivity in Pomigliano plant impacted the Italian system of industrial relations.
The research moves from the observation that the subscription of this agreement by only some trade unions led to the breech of the pact for unity of action by union confederations which had ensured the soundness of the overall trade union system for sixty years.
In this perspective and after retracing the various phases of negotiation - from the different strikes up to the referendum and subscription of the separate agreement of January 22, 2009 which reformed the bargaining system, the author highlights the fact that two separate contract systems were created as a result of this separate agreement, each endowed with different sets of rules, more and more distant but the facto in competition with each other.
These are the basic assumptions that the author moved from to investigate the consequences of such a competition through the analysis of the abundant jurisprudence produced since the agreement was signed, with the aim of proving the case for a renewed unity of the trade unions through a new inter-trade union agreement concerning union representation, as was the one subscribed later on June 28, 2011.
A research which stems from theory to praxis in order to show the fragility of an industrial relations system based on unanimity and highlight the need for a reform combining the reasons of union democracy with those of labour productivity, while facing global competition. The essay investigates how the controversial dispute connected to the subscription of Fiat collective bargaining for the relaunch of productivity in Pomigliano plant impacted the Italian system of industrial relations.
