Selection Effects in Entrepreneurship
No full textMy work is positioned within an emerging trend in entrepreneurial research which revises prior work by considering the impact of selection effects. Prior research on the individual-level determinants of start-up size, performance, and exit has ignored that individuals select into entrepreneurship and this might seriously bias our understanding of the post-entry process. I'm particularly well positioned to investigate the nature, the extent, and the consequences of these selection effects because I could access extraordinary data on the Swedish population, which allows me to incorporate information on individuals who were at risk but did not enter entrepreneurship. Yet, the overall contribution of my dissertation goes beyond flagging a selection problem and developing a method to cope with it. It comes up with reexamining and even questioning some of the most prominent theoretical explanations to fundamental issues in entrepreneurship, such as the notion of initial size, the liability of smallness, and the interplay between entrepreneurial performance and firm exit.My work is positioned within an emerging trend in entrepreneurial research which revises prior work by considering the impact of selection effects. Competenze ICT certificate e curricula universitari: l’integrazione è possibile?
No full textL’ormai accertata pervasività dell’ICT in tutti i campi del mercato del lavoro rende necessario un costante aggiornamento delle competenze da parte di coloro che si affacciano per la prima volta a questa realtà come gli studenti universitari. Si presenta un caso di integrazione di uno schema di certificazione delle competenze nell’ambito di un corso di laurea triennale in Economia e Management. Si discutono le possibili ricadute di tale approccio nelle prospettive di docenti e studenti.L’ormai accertata pervasività dell’ICT in tutti i campi del mercato del lavoro rende necessario un costante aggiornamento delle competenze da parte di coloro che si affacciano per la prima volta a questa realtà come gli studenti universitari. A design theory for e-service environments: The interoperability challenge
No full textThe delivery of e-services across organizational boundaries poses a number of issues in terms of design of inter-organizational systems that support service delivery effectively. In this context interoperability emerges as a mandatory requirement for the design of Information Technology (IT) platforms supporting collaborative e-service environments. In this paper we address this issue by presenting a design theory for IT platforms supporting e-services based on both a deep understanding of the interoperability concept and a design research approach. No full textIl punto di partenza di un dibattito sulla società digitale, sulle opportunità e i rischi emergenti e sul governo delle nuove for-me di cooperazione rese possibili grazie al continuo sviluppo delle tecnologie digitali, non può prescindere da un’analisi preli-minare sulla natura stessa di questo tipo di tecnologia e della realtà sociale che con-tribuisce alla sua diffusione e al suo svilup-po. Una riflessione ontologica sulle tecno-logie digitali costituisce dunque un buon punto di partenza per identificare i princi-pali elementi in gioco, le relazioni tra que-sti e i fenomeni emergenti di cui tener conto per accompagnare l’evoluzione di questo complesso sistema in continuo adattamento.Il punto di partenza di un dibattito sulla società digitale, sulle opportunità e i rischi emergenti e sul governo delle nuove for-me di cooperazione rese possibili grazie al continuo sviluppo delle tecnologie digitali, non può prescindere da un’analisi preli-minare sulla natura stessa di questo tipo di tecnologia e della realtà sociale che con-tribuisce alla sua diffusione e al suo svilup-po.
