Experimental Study on Previous Concrete with Various Mix Ratios
The pervious concrete is designed with cementitious material content just enough to coat the coarse aggregate particles so that a configuration that allows the passage of water at a much higher rate than conventional concrete. The pervious concrete has many advantages that improves city environment, recharges the ground by rain water and could be used as pavement for light vehicles, pedestrian pathways, parking lots, also it reduces the tire pavement interaction noise etc. In this paper, structural property and permeability of pervious concrete made without and with different ratios of fine aggregate and pozzolan. 9.5 mm maximum size of crushed gravel and constant aggregate/cement ratio of 3.6 were used. Mix design void content is tested 20%. The specific gravity of fine aggregate 2.53 and the specific gravity of crushed stone 2.56. Type I Portland cement and water- reducing and retarding concrete admixture were used. Mix design is based on the no slump method from the American Concrete Institute’s Committee 211.3R-02, “Standard Practice for Selecting Proportions for No Slump Concrete.” This research work was divided into third/three sections. The first section is without pozzolan and fine aggregate and second section is with two different ratios of pozzolan third section is without pozzolan and with fine aggregate. Pozzolan is used as a supplementary cementitious material to partially replace Portland cement in pervious concrete mixes up to 20% by weight. Fine aggregate partially replace as a coarse aggregate in pervious concrete mixes up to 10% by weight. Mix design void content is tested 20%. This concrete is tested for its properties, such as density, void content, compressive strength and water permeability. The most important property of pervious concrete is its water permeability
The Modelling Concept of Volume and Duration of Parking for Various Types of Landuse in Surabaya
Both parking fee and parking tax are the potential income for most local authorities in Indonesia since they are considered as the parts of of local authority’s revenue (Pendapatan Asli Daerah, PAD). However, currently many local authorities including that in Surabaya has a problem in determining target as well as the achievement of annual parking revenue. This situation takes place due to the lack of reliable method to estimate the parking revenue including both parking fee and parking tax either on-street parking nor off-street parking. Meanwhile, there are growing investments of public and private facilities in many capital cities of both regency and provincy including apartments, hotels, malls, campus, hospitals, convention buildings, terminals, offices, restaurants and mixed uses in which many parking spaces will be provided to support their activities later on. The providing of new parking spaces will therefore potentially contribute to the local authorities’s revenue as the consequences. Main variable to contribute the parking revenue are the number of parked vehicle as well as the parking duration (when progressive tariff is applied). The concept of both number of parked vehicle and parking durations for several landuses will be introduced in this paper so that they can be elaborated more in depth as a mathematical model. Furthermore they can be used as references for estimating the anual parking revenue of local authotities as the part of local authorities revenue (PAD). Moreover, these models will be useful for parking facilities investors to analyse the their financial investment
Sea Surface Temperature Mapping at Medium Scale Using Landsat 8 -TIRS Satellite Image
The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) retrieval from satellites data has been available since 1980’s both temporally and spatially. Some researchers have established SST inversion models depending on the correlation between the TM/ETM+ TIR radiance and the in-situ data. The objective of this research is to evaluate the performance of Landsat 8-estimated SST from 4 existing algorithms: Planck, Mono-Window Algorithm (MWA), Syariz and Split Window Algorithm (SWA) algorithms on 4 different tested areas: Eastern Bali, Bangkalan, Bombana and Poteran waters. Algorithm of Syariz dan SWA produced acceptable accuracy on all tested area with the NMAE ranged at 0.2-19.6% and 3.4-9.9% for Syariz and SWA, respectively. However, MWA and Planck produced NMAE larger than 30% on Bali and Poteran waters. Following the successful of SWA algorithm, the same algorithm was developed using insitu data collected on Poteran waters. The estimated SST by the developed algorithm produced acceptable accuracies on all tested water areas with the NMAE ranged from 0.401% to 16.630%. It was indicated that Syariz, SWA and the developed algorithms were applicable for SST retrieval on all tested water
Flood Vulnerability Analysis Using Remote Sensing and GIS: A Case Study of Sidoarjo Regency
Sidoarjo Regency is one of the regencieslocatedin East Java Province Indonesia.Topography of some area in Sidoarjocan be categorized asin low altitude topography, so it makes this regency haspotential risk for flood disaster. Flood incident in Sidoarjo occurs almost every year. The cause of flooding in this district is an accumulation of several factors, such as heavy rainfall in the rainy season for every year, the low altitude areas in several sub-districts, land cover dominated roads and buildings in the some sub-districts, and the existence of several rivers flowing through the district. Application of Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing is generated in this study to present information on the mapping of flood vulnerability zones in Sidoarjo. Integration of satellite and GIS datasets are carried out to prepare the flood zonation mapping of Sidoarjo Regency. Rainfall data fromTropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), topographic map, land coverand the distance to main channel data are the datasetsused to identify the flood vulnerability. Flood vulnerability information includes the spatial distribution of flood hazard vulnerability in all sub-districs of Sidoarjo Regency. Spatial information is represented in the form of a map image. By knowing the spatial distribution, it can be known the level of vulnerability of areas to flooding. Most of Sidoarjo regency is flood vulnerable area, which is 76.24% or 658,702,719.91 sqm. It consist of 33.14% very high vulnerable area and 43.10% high vulnerable area. Very high vulnerable flood-prone areas in Sidoarjo Regency include most area of Jabon, Porong, Tanggulangin, Balongbendo, Krembung, Taman, and Waru sub-districts, while others are some parts of Candi, Sidoarjo, Buduran, and Gedangan sub-districts. High vulnerable flood-prone area include Tarik, Prambon, Tulangan, Wonoayu, and Sukodono sub-districts. The most dominant factors causing flooding in Sidoarjo Regency is the change of land cover, heavy rainfall, and high drainage density, while other factor also contributing to future flood vulnerability are land subsidence
Performance Evaluation of Irrigation System in Cikeusik Irrigation Area, Cirebon Regency West Java Province
West Java Province is known as an area that plays an important role in agricultural production in Indonesia. Cirebon is a district in West Java which is in the eastern part bordering Central Java. Many areas of irrigation or Irrigation Network who experience a decrease in performance, one of whom who experience decreased performance is Cikeusik Irrigation Area. This time, the Irrigation Cikeusik Management implemented by Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai (BBWS) Cimanuk Cisanggarung, Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. The Irrigation Cikeusik receive water supplies from Dam Cikeusik in the Cisanggarung river with the area in 6899 Ha. The purpose of this research is to analyze and calculate what percentage in the performance of the Sub Regional Irrigation Maneunteung West and Sub Regional Irrigation Maneunteung East on irrigation area Cikuesik using the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No. 32 / PRT / M / 2007 on Guidelines for Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation. Some aspects of the irrigation system set out in the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No. 32 / PRT / M / 2007 are physical infrastructure, plant productivity, supporting facilities Maintenance Operation, Maintenance Organization Operations personnel, documentation and water user associations (P3A). The research method is by direct observation, questionnaire and test methods research is done by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The performance evaluation of irrigation systems shows the percentage of different figures. Assessment is based on a survey conducted in West Sub Maneunteung irrigation area is 75.95% and 71.70% based on the respondent data. A difference of 4.26%, thus the performance of the irrigation system is ranged between 71.70% up to 75.95% or an average of 73.82%. Assessment is based on a survey conducted in Sub irigation area East Maneunteung is 76.10%, while 72.41% of respondents based on the data.The difference of 3.69%, thus the performance of the irrigation system is ranged between 72.41% up to 76.10% or an average of 74.26%. Based on the percentage of those with regulation of the Minister Public Works No. 32/PRT/M/2007 condition Sub irrigation area West Maneunteng and East Maneunteung have good performance
Road-map Pengembangan Intelligent Transport System di Surabaya
Teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) di bidang transportasi, diharapkan memberikan pelayanan operasional yang efektif kepada masyarakat dan dapat memberikan kelancaran pada sistem transportasi secara umum. Pemerintah Kota Surabaya telah membangun Adaptive Traffic Control System - Intelligent Transport System (ATCS-ITS) dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan keselamatan lalulintas, serta peningkatan kelancaran lalulintas. Sistem ATCS bekerja dengan inputan kamera dan sensor. Input tersebut kemudian diolah di ruang control oleh operator, kemudian hasil dari inputan tersebut bisa berupa pengaturan traffic light dan Variable Message Sign (VMS). Selanjutnya, sistem ATCS – ITS ini dikembangkan, dengan melengkapi komponen Advanced Public Transportation System (APTS) yang meliputi manajemen armada (fleet management) dan manajemen revenue (e-ticket). Manajemen armada yang berbasis pada transportasi cerdas memberikan solusi operasional lalu-lintas yang efisien, menyegarkan kembali kapasitas ruas jalan, memperpendek mileage, mengurangi waktu tempuh, menekan konsumsi bahan bakar dan tingkat polusi dari emisi gas buang, mengurangi kelelahan pengemudi sehingga mengurangi resiko kecelakaan.
An Investigation on the Adaptive Modal Combination Procedure for Seismic Evaluation of Buildings Considered Soil Structure Interaction
Nonlinear response history analysis (NL-RHA) is a powerful tool for seismic analysis of structures. The seismic performance of structures can be estimated accurately due to a set of ground motions. However, NL-RHA is an onerous task to estimate seismic demands due to its complexity for practical design applications. Therefore, nonlinear static procedures (NSPs), which are rooted in structural dynamic theory, are developed as an alternative to rigorous NL-RHA. NSPs are now widely used in engineering practice to evaluate seismic responses of structure in the inelastic range. The main objective of this study is to assess the bias and accuracy of the adaptive modal combination (AMC) procedure, which is modified from the modal pushover analysis (MPA) procedure, for seismic evaluation of buildings. Three-, 9-, 18-storey buildings were analyzed due to two sets of strong ground motions having 2% and 10% probability of being exceeded in 50 years. The influence of soil-structure interaction in the analysis was also considered by using Beam-on-Nonlinear-Winkler-Foundation modeling. The assessment is based on comparing seismic displacement demands such as target roof displacements, peak floor displacements and inter-storey drifts. The AMC estimates are compared to results from nonlinear response history analysis (NL-RHA) and results from AMC procedure considered only first mode (AMC- 1st mode). The obtained results show that the AMC procedure provides reasonably accurate results in estimating seismic demands of studied buildings
Analysis of Electricity Demand to Increase the Electrification Ratio (Case Study: Madura Island)
Abstract- One of the Indonesia’s problem as an archipelago is uneven electrification ratio in the entire of archipelago. Especially for small and isolated island are not effectively to build a large power plant due the ratio between population and investment are immense. In here, a strategy to increase the electrification ratio in the islands is a challenge for Indonesia Government. In this research will be used the dynamic model approach to analyze the demand of electrical energy in Madura Island to increase the electrification ratio in the Indonesia’s Islands. The result shows that the growth of electricity demand in Madura Island is 9% and the most important factor that affecting electrification ratio in Madura is number of electricity customer and power plant capacity to increase the electrification ratio
Public Open Space as Urban Architecture: Design and Public Life
Public open space (POS) does not become an adequate priority in urban planning and design in developing countries, including Indonesia. The cities are almost ‘full of buildings’ and ‘less of POS.' Meanwhile, many studies show that the POS has a significant effect on citizens’ quality of life. By this situation, the research means to explore the quality of public open space in relation to its utilization. The study observed POS in several small towns in North Sumatra Province, where new urbanized area had been rising by autonomy regulation. A visual survey was carried out to record, map and identify the quality of the public open spaces. Besides, the visitors were interviewed to get their perception of the quality of POS. The investigation indicates that almost of public life did not always equal with the design of the POS. Almost POS have no pedestrian linkage to make it connect with the other urban space. Thus, the majority of POS was alienated with the other part of cities.There was no integration with public transport, too. The facilities were less of maintenance. However, the community kept coming to the place and doing many activities. The respondents perceived the POS as quite good, but not good enough. Still, they mostly believed that the POS have a real impact on their quality of life
The Effect of Si/Al Ratio to Compressive Strength and Water Absorption of Ferronickel Slag-based Geopolymer
Geopolymer material is inorganic polymers that are generally synthesized from aluminosilicate materials, such as ferronickel slag. In this study, synthesis of geopolymer material using NaOH 7 molar and Na2SiO3 solutions with different Si/Al ratio to make paste. Paste is molded in a metal mold with dimensions of 5x5x5 cm3, then released from the mold and heated in an oven at 80 °C for 24 hours. The specimens that have been heated further left at room temperature for 28 days and then tested for compressive strengthand water absorption. The results indicate a trend compressive strength increases and water absorption decreases with increasing the Si/Al ratio. The optimum condition is obtained when Si/Al ratio is 3.5
