L’impiego della terra cruda nell'edilizia nuragica
With this contribution we aim to provide an overall picture of the problem relating to the use of raw earth in Nuragicconstructions, a topic that is little covered compared to the numerous studies dedicated to the much more widespread and monumental stone structures. Through the evaluation of published data, often problematic, relating to the entire long-time course of the Nuragic civilization, the evidence linked to the use of raw earth and the connections with some particular issues such as the interpretation of sunken structures or the possibility of using raw earth in roofng systems are analyzed.
Several Nuragic sites in Anglona (northwestern Sardinia) are presented, characterized by settlements on difficult-to-access hills, fortified with sections of walls built according to the standard Nuragic technique in regular rows. It is suggested that they derive from Copper Age megalithic walls (common in Anglona) and that they are older than the classical nuraghe.
A preliminary analysis of the “walls” of a historical region in northern Sardinia, Gallura, is presented, focusing on issues of attribution, function, and chronology, in the near-total absence of stratigraphic excavations. A classification into macro-typologies is proposed, highlighting that the walls are almost never isolated structures but form part of a broader hilltop settlement.
This essay posits an interpretative exercise on Malintzin's names using the concept of heteronym along with the postulates of Bolívar Echeverría on her figure through his concepts of cultural mestizaje and codiphagia; the contributions of Federico Navarrete on her agency in the alliances and negotiations during the Conquest of Mexico; and the gender approach of Yásnaya Aguilar who incorporates a contemporary indigenous critique. Finally, the name: Malintzin will be understood as an alternative cultural identity, which destabilizes the biased notion of Malinchism.
The Power of a Poster: Analysis of Political Posters as Strategic Communication Tools in Latin America and Beyond
This article analyses political posters from the 1960s to the 1990s in Latin America, uncovered by the exhibition Thinking Inside the Box, as a Strategic Communications tool. A discussion of visual communications theory summarises that the relevance of posters is not only in their message but in what they represent as a mean of communication. A history of their usage, production and consumption is then connected to dictatorships in Latin America in the 20th century, concluding that posters played a pivotal role as mannifestations of power and recruitment tools in this historical period
This article examines how Andean festivals, particularly in the Kayambi community, function as spaces of political expression where identities and power relations are negotiated. Using an ethnographic approach, it analyzes the effects of evangelization on indigenous ritual practices. The case of the Aya Huma’s baptism illustrates the local re-signification of Catholic elements and the tensions between imposed religious practices and forms of cultural resistance.
