No full textThe key objective of this article is to reflect upon the Rocafuerte Street and the Streets’ network neighboring the old town in Quito, which has been supporting a rich ensemble of social and cultural relationships that are characteristic features of the Andean region. This space is not only a popular trade zone open to negotiation among pairs and not pairs, but also, it constitutes a space of encounters and relationships with its own cultural practices. It is, on the other hand, a border space or threshold between the patrimonialized and the non-patrimonialized part of the old town.El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre la calle Rocafuerte y una red de calles y plazas adyacentes del centro histórico de Quito, que han servido de soporte a una serie de relacionamientos sociales y culturales característicos de las ciudades andinas. A más de ser espacios económicos, ha servido de base a la circulación de imágenes y representaciones relacionadas con la fiesta y la ritualidad barroca y con una “espectacularidad popular”. Henry Jones, albeit regarded as a minor figure within the British idealist movement, offers a meticulous analysis of these transformations, particularly with regard to the emergence and evolution of concepts such as meritocracy, competition, and civic engagement. The Digital Library of Charles Albert's library at the Racconigi Castle was established within the project "The recovery of the Carlo-Albertine Library, a meeting place between the public and private life of the sovereign" . One of the main aspects of the project was to make the library's heritage digitally accessible through cataloging, digitization, and the creation of a digital library. This creates new connections with the local area on the one hand, and new content that in turn generates further content on the other.Siti web e biblioteche digitali possono servire non solo come piattaforme per consultare e visualizzare contenuti digitali, ma anche come strumenti per creare connessioni con il territorio, fornendo un punto di partenza per sviluppare altri progetti ed esperienze inclusivi e accessibili. La Biblioteca Digitale della biblioteca di Carlo Alberto al Castello di Racconigi è stata istituita nell'ambito del progetto "Il recupero della Biblioteca Carlo-Albertina, luogo di incontro tra la vita pubblica e privata del sovrano". No full textThis paper presents the outcomes of the pilot development of a Digital Cultural Monument (DCM) dedicated to archival collections, specifically aimed at digitally regenerating a documentary series related to a centuries-old legal dispute over Civic Uses. Originally, the documentation was hosted in the Archive of the Capitolo of Laterza, but it was subsequently fragmented due to historical and legal events spanning approximately four centuries, from the 17th to the 20th century. Over time, the most substantial part of the documents was incorporated into the private archive of the dell’Aquila Family, while a residual collection of documents is currently preserved in the Archive of the Chiesa Madre di San Lorenzo Martire in Laterza. The project initially focused on digitizing both documentary sets and digitally reconstructing the original archival organization of the documents within the ancient Capitolo Archive. However, direct analysis of the original materials revealed specific characteristics that led to a new perspective on the usability of the digital collection. The study identified fasciculation and cartulation corresponding to document aggregations associated with various phases of the legal dispute. Consequently, the project sought to provide users with access to these individual aggregations by clustering them according to their respective cartulation references. Currently, research is underway to develop potential interface solutions designed to facilitate user access and consultation, ensuring an optimized and intuitive exploration of the reconstructed digital archive.Il paper presenta gli esiti del processo di sperimentazione di un Monumento Culturale Digitale dedicato agli archivi, focalizzato a rigenerare in ambiente digitale una serie documentale relativa a una plurisecolare vertenza sugli Usi Civici. Originariamente, la documentazione era conservata presso l’Archivio del Capitolo di Laterza, poi smembrata in seguito agli eventi storici e giuridici succedutisi nel corso di circa quattro secoli dal XVII al XX. La parte più consistente della serie è confluita nel tempo nell’Archivio privato della Famiglia dell’Aquila, mentre una porzione residuale di documenti è oggi conservata presso l’Archivio della Chiesa Matrice di S. Lorenzo Martire di Laterza. Il progetto ha previsto originariamente la digitizzazione di entrambi gli insiemi documentali e la ricomposizione in ambiente digitale della primigenia organizzazione archivistica dei documenti nell’antico Archivio Capitolare. In seguito, l’analisi diretta degli originali ha evidenziato alcune caratteristiche che hanno aperto una nuova prospettiva di fruizione della collezione digitale. Sono state rilevate fascicolazioni e cartulazioni relative ad aggregazioni di documenti funzionali a diverse fasi del contenzioso giuridico. Si è inteso, dunque, rendere disponibili agli utenti le singole aggregazioni clusterizzandole per cartulazione di riferimento. Attualmente, si stanno studiando le possibili soluzioni di interfacce di interrogazione atte a facilitare l’accesso e la consultazione degli utenti
Characteristics of sediment pollution study with trace elements in the Kufa River, Iraq
No full textThe deterioration of water quality due to increasing industrial and urban activities poses a growing threat to riverine ecosystems. Sediments, acting as both carriers and sinks for contaminants, are critical in evaluating environmental pollution and identifying its potential sources. This study investigates the concentrations and spatial distribution of selected heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, Ni) in the bottom sediments of the Kufa River, located in Najaf Governorate, Iraq. Fine sediment fractions (<0.02 mm) were analyzed using the Geoaccumulation Index (I-geo) to assess pollution levels. The findings indicate that heavy metal concentrations were generally low and spatially homogeneous across the three selected sites. Most metals fell within the "unpolluted" to "moderately polluted" categories according to the I-geo classification. Nickel exhibited slightly elevated values at some sites, suggesting localized influence. Areas with low hydrodynamic activity showed marginally higher concentrations due to potential accumulation. These results provide a baseline understanding of heavy metal behavior in the Kufa River and highlight the importance of continuous sediment monitoring. The study supports the development of long-term environmental management strategies to preserve river health and prevent future degradation

No full textThe contribution focuses on the issue of remote surveillance via CCTV systems in the workplace. The paper begins with an analysis of the impact of EU personal data processing regulations in Irish workplaces, examining decisions issued by the Irish Data Protection Commissioner alongside significant legal cases where the Irish courts have applied principles on personal data processing with reference to employment relationships. The author then draws attention to Italian law, noting that the impact of EU legislation on personal data processing in Italian workplaces has long been affected by its coexistence with Article 4 of the Workers’ Statute. Consequently, the essay analyses the evolution of the relationship between this statutory rule and personal data processing regulations in Italy, reflecting on the present and future of Article 4 of the Workers’ Statute.La contribución se centra en la cuestión de la vigilancia remota mediante sistemas de CCTV en el lugar de trabajo. El artículo comienza con un análisis del impacto de la normativa de la UE sobre el tratamiento de datos personales en los lugares de trabajo irlandeses, examinando las decisiones emitidas por el Comisionado de Protección de Datos de Irlanda junto con casos judiciales significativos en los que los tribunales irlandeses han aplicado principios sobre el tratamiento de datos personales en el ámbito de las relaciones laborales. Posteriormente, la autora dirige la atención al derecho italiano, señalando que el impacto de la legislación europea sobre el tratamiento de datos personales en los lugares de trabajo italianos ha estado durante mucho tiempo condicionado por su coexistencia con el artículo 4 del Estatuto de los Trabajadores. En consecuencia, el ensayo analiza la evolución de la relación entre esta norma estatutaria y la regulación sobre el tratamiento de datos personales en Italia, reflexionando sobre el presente y el futuro del artículo 4 del Estatuto de los Trabajadores.Il contributo affronta la questione della sorveglianza a distanza mediante sistemi di CCTV sul luogo di lavoro. Il saggio prende avvio con l’analisi dell’impatto della normativa UE sul trattamento dei dati personali nei luoghi di lavoro irlandesi, esaminando alcune decisioni dell’Irish Data Protection Commissioner e taluni significativi casi giudiziari in cui le corti irlandesi hanno fatto ricorso ai principi sul trattamento dei dati personali con riferimento ai rapporti di lavoro. L’Autrice focalizza, dunque, l’attenzione sull’ordinamento italiano, rilevando come l’impatto della disciplina europea sul trattamento dei dati personali nei luoghi di lavoro italiani abbia a lungo risentito della sua coesistenza con l’art. 4 dello Statuto dei lavoratori. No full textIn the first part, the essay analyses the timing and modalities of digitalisation in the last-mile logistics sector, describing the forms that algorithmic management takes in the management of drivers' and porters' activities. These observations are then applied to the corporate structure typically found in the examined sector in Italy, i.e. the subcontracting chain, to identify the legal issues posed by this intersection to the interpreter. In this way, the authors seek to answer two questions: can the management of labour by means of algorithms by client companies be considered an instance of illicit labour brokerage, and what information tools are available to employees of contracting companies to “unveil” the algorithm and its user?El ensayo analiza, en la primera parte, los tiempos y modos de digitalización del trabajo en el sector de la logística, describiendo las formas que asume la gestión algorítmica en la organización de las actividades de conductores y porteadores. Estas observaciones se ponen en correlación con la estructura empresarial típicamente difundida en Italia en el sector analizado, es decir, la cadena de subcontrataciones, identificando así las cuestiones jurídicas que plantea al intérprete esta intersección de planos de análisis. Los autores intentan, de este modo, responder a dos preguntas: si y cómo la gestión del trabajo mediante algoritmos por parte de las empresas contratistas puede constituir un supuesto de intermediación ilícita de mano de obra; y qué instrumentos informativos pueden hoy reconocerse a las trabajadoras y los trabajadores empleados por las empresas subcontratadas para “revelar” el algoritmo y a su usuario.Il contributo analizza, nella prima parte, tempi e modalità di digitalizzazione del lavoro nel settore della logistica dell’ultimo miglio, descrivendo le forme assunte dal management algoritmico nella gestione delle attività di driver e facchini. Tali osservazioni vengono quindi messe alla prova della struttura societaria tipicamente diffusa in Italia nel settore esaminato, vale a dire la catena di appalti, individuando così le questioni giuridiche che tale intersezione pone all’interprete. Gli autori cercano, in tal maniera, di rispondere a due domande: se e come la gestione del lavoro mediante algoritmi da parte delle società committenti possa integrare un’ipotesi di interposizione illecita di manodopera; quali strumenti informativi possano essere riconosciuti oggi in capo a lavoratrici e lavoratori dipendenti delle società appaltatrici per “disvelare” l'algoritmo e il suo utilizzatore

No full textOn 7 February 2025, the National Commission for Special Libraries, Archives and Author Libraries, together with the AIB section Campania and the Library of the Agricultural Area of the University of Naples Federico II, promoted the study day Nuovi strumenti per le collezioni speciali: dalle linee guida IFLA alle realtà professionali. During the meeting, translations of two tools issued by IFLA, Gifts for the Collections: Guidelines for Libraries e Competency Guidelines for Rare Books and Special Collections Professionals, were presented. The panel discussion on the competencies of special collections professionals offered a plurality of voices and mapped out the most pressing issues to be addressed. The day ended with the presentation of the book edited by Lorenzo Baldacchini, “Le collezioni speciali: esperienze ed orizzonti. Atti della giornata di studio promossa da Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Roma, Commissione nazionale AIB Biblioteche speciali, archivi e biblioteche d’autore”. The meeting addressed some key issues in the treatment of special collections. Firstly, the terminological issue, which was also addressed in relation to foreign vocabularies; the difficult management of the complexity inherent in such collections; the need for hybridisation of skills; the role of special collections in relation to community involvement and public history; university training of future professionals and the regulatory framework governing the certification of skills.Il 7 febbraio 2025 la Commissione nazionale Biblioteche speciali, archivi e biblioteche d’autore, insieme all’AIB sezione Campania e alla Biblioteca di Area Agraria dell’Università degli studi di Napoli Federico II, ha promosso la giornata di studi Nuovi strumenti per le collezioni speciali: dalle linee guida IFLA alle realtà professionali. Durante l’incontro sono state presentate le traduzioni di due strumenti emanati dall’IFLA, Gifts for the Collections: Guidelines for Libraries e Competency Guidelines for Rare Books and Special Collections Professionals. La tavola rotonda sulle competenze dei professionisti dei fondi speciali ha proposto una pluralità di voci e ha delineato una mappa delle questioni più urgenti da affrontare. La giornata si è conclusa con la presentazione del volume curato da Lorenzo Baldacchini, “Le collezioni speciali: esperienze ed orizzonti. Atti della giornata di studio promossa da Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Roma, Commissione nazionale AIB Biblioteche speciali, archivi e biblioteche d’autore”.L’incontro ha permesso di affrontare alcuni temi chiave nel trattamento delle collezioni speciali. In primo luogo, la questione terminologica, che è stata affrontata anche in rapporto ai vocabolari esteri; la difficile gestione della complessità propria di tali collezioni; la necessità di ibridazione delle competenze; il ruolo delle collezioni speciali in rapporto al coinvolgimento delle comunità e in chiave di public history; la formazione universitaria dei futuri professionisti e il quadro normativo che regola l’attestazione delle competenze

No full textIn October 2023, C’è ancora domani, the first feature film directed by Paola Cortellesi, was released in Italy. After being in theaters for almost a year, it totaled 44 million euros in takings, surpassing foreign titles such as Barbie and Oppenheimer. The economic success and the cross-cutting consensus received from spectators and critics inevitably make C’è ancora domani a case worthy of attention. In this framework, the article adopts the perspective of media industry studies to understand which factors linked to the film’s production and distribution may be able to explain, in a substantial or accessory manner, its success. Secondly, C’è ancora domani is used to track down and discuss critical issues in the Italian film industry. Using Cinetel data and statements released by various stakeholders, the study shows how the film was differently promoted in two consequent phases (firstly hiding its committed nature, and then exploiting word of mouth), thus aggregating two different audiences over time. From this perspective, C’è ancora domani demonstrates how, in order to valorized films, it is always important to develop ad hoc strategies, and that the prototypal nature of films also concerns the promotional patterns.In October 2023, C’è ancora domani, the first feature film directed by Paola Cortellesi, was released in Italy.
