    No full text
In the Italian landscape, Amelia Rosselli stands out among the key poetic figures of 20th-century both for her intricate poetic experimentalism and for her ability to blend words and voice into a fluid language. This study seeks to explore new avenues for examining the formal aspects of Rosselli’s work – particularly her use of meter, music, and prosody. Central to this investigation is a re-examination of her seminal essay, Spazi metrici, informed by data derived from a corpus of eight original recordings of Rosselli herself. These recordings are analyzed prosodically using the methodology of the Voices of Italian Poets project. The interdisciplinary approach taken here enables a correlation between the prosodic and textual dimensions of Spazi metrici, while also capturing the distinct features of Rosselli’s experimental modus legendi. Through this analysis, a comprehensive system is outlined, revealing a holistic poetic space where multiple dimensions of language converge. This integrated view highlights the underlying regularity and complexity of Rosselli’s poetic architecture, offering new insights into her work.

How bloody is your vessel? ‘Contrastive idiomaticity’ among languages and cultures

    No full text
Dealing with idioms, otherwise called templates, fixed or semi-fixed expressions in language in a contrastive perspective can be useful to promote linguistic and cultural awareness, mutual understanding, and inclusion. From a cognitive metaphor perspective, the interface between cultural variation and the universality of specific experiential and cognitive groundings and between motivation and linguistic variation are of great interest. This is especially true when considering linguistic relativism (Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis), embodiment, and emotion (Lakoff 1993; Kövecses 2000; Boroditsky 2001).  In this paper we will compare an idiomatic expression such as “to burst a blood vessel”, commonly used by English speakers when experiencing anger, vs. similar expressions in French, Italian, and Arabic, to explore their potential metaphorical grounding, usage, and emotional impact with a quantitative and qualitative contrastive approach. The degrees to which variation and similarities among the chosen comparable idioms occur is what we call ‘contrastive idiomaticity’. How these languages relate to these idioms’ metaphorical groundings will also be discussed from a cross-cultural persuasion and sustainability perspective

    Minori tra informazione e informativa

    No full text
This work aims to take a critical look at the systems of accessibility, usability and limitations of information, distinguishing the hypothesis in which the minor is an active subject of information and those in which he is a passive subject and therefore a vulnerable receiver of multifaceted and unconditional information. In this study, technological evolution will be a moment of reflection, its impact on the uncontrolled diffusion of information, as well as the analysis of the cultural and psychological implications that such innovations bring about in the construct of the personality of the minor and in his formation. With an important point of connection, the new centric recognition of the minor will be analyzed, offering insights on regulatory solutions.

Forest Futures in the Making: Legal Infrastructures and Multispecies Speculation in Planning Climate-Adaptable Forests

    No full text
Forests are increasingly thought of as a crucial instrument to combat a host of climate change associated stressors and threats such as soil erosion, atmospheric CO2, and heat stress. As such, forests have become enrolled in seductive progress stories of envisioning future climate change mitigation and adaptation. In this article, I trace how these seductive visions are materialized in practices of planning and planting new forests. Drawing on fieldwork and interviews with practising foresters in the Dutch National Forestry Agency, this piece tries to tell smaller, unheroic understories of new forests in the making. In so doing it creates the necessary empirical and conceptual space to attend to the way multiple temporalities become implicated in the making of “forests for the future”. Tracing the agencies of legal infrastructures, the rhythms of seasonal plant life and human labor, the intrusion of climate change, and the speculations on future multispecies becoming that characterize these practices of planning and planting, this piece highlights how temporalities matter to the way we think and practice our response-abilities in times of ecological crises

The article examines the processes of musealization and re-musealization of the Coleção do Nosso Sagrado, a collection of sacred objects that narrates a history of religious oppression in Brazil within a colonial context. An analysis of three specific pieces and their custodial processes at the Museu da República, managed in shared custody with researchers and religious leaders, serves as a case study for a critical, decolonial, and reparative museology.L’articolo esamina i processi di musealizzazione e ri-musealizzazione della Coleção do Nosso Sagrado, una collezione di oggetti sacri che narra una storia di oppressione religiosa in Brasile in un contesto coloniale.

Reliability Estimation of Dependence Structure System For Huang-Kotz Iterated FGM With Lindley Marginal

    No full text
Huang and Kotz (1984) proposed a two-parameter extension of the original Fralie-Gumble-Morgenstern (FGM) family to model the higher association between the random variables. In this problem, we develop an iterated FGM (IFGM) based dependent stress-strength reliability model using Lindley marginals. Some important statistical and reliability properties of the proposed distribution are also derived. The prime goal of this study is to investigate the effect of stress-strength reliability parameters with respect to the variation in the dependence parameters α and β. Further, we compared the IFGM stress-strength reliability model with the original FGM using graphical representations to assess whether reliability was over or under-estimated. Finally, we investigated the performance of the proposed estimators through both Monte Carlo simulations as well as real data sets

We study boundedness of weak solutions to elliptic systems of partial differential equations in divergence form, under the so-called p,q growth conditions. Examples are obtained by writing the Euler system of some double phase functionals.

    Immaginari

The essay analyses the epistemological status of the notion of the social imaginary as it developed in French culture and in the thought of Bronislaw Baczko. The centrality of this notion is punctually traced and highlighted in all Baczko’s works, both those more directly dedicated to symbolic history and those devoted to the Enlightenment and revolutionary practices.

    No full text
This paper aims to describe a text-mining approach on a domain corpus (cork) within the theoretical framework of the dual dimension of terminology to create a terminological dictionary and correlate it with an ontology. We will make some considerations on (i) domain specificities; (ii) lexical markers; (iii) automatic corpus processing using Sketch Engine; (iv) representation of lexical networks using CmapTools; and (v) representation of the concept system using Protégé. The goal of the ontology is to logically support the coherence and quality of the natural language definitions contained in the terminological resource.

Potential salinization of tropical soils formed from basement complex and sedimentary parent materials by sole and combined dried animal manures and wood ash

    No full text
The hypothesis that sole and complementary application of dried animal manures and wood ash will affect electrical conductivity (EC) of some tropical soils under controlled and uncontrolled conditions was tested. Treatments: control, poultry manure at 90 kg P ha-1 (PM), cattle manure at 90 kg P ha-1 (CM), wood ash 5 t ha-1 (WA) and the mixtures of manure with wood ash (CMWA, PMWA) were applied to soil in incubation, screen house and field experiments. Samples were taken monthly (0, 4, 8, 12 weeks after incorporation/planting; WAI/WAP) for soil EC determination. For screenhouse and field experiments, maize seeds were sown in two cycles. Data on soil EC were analyzed and significant means separated. Result indicated that EC of soils were in the sequence of Soil 1 (0.16) > Soil 2(0.13) > Soil 5 (0.12) > Soil  4 (0.08) > Soil 3 (0.05) > Soil 6 (0.02 dS m-1). For amendments, the EC was in the order of WA (4.39) > PMWA (3.03) > CMWA (2.78) > PM (1.87) > CM (1.43 dS m-1). In incubation experiment, application of CMWA increased EC by 126, 65, 79 % above control, CM and PM respectively in Soil 1 at 0WAI, by 338, 46, 218, 52 and 133 % than the control, CM, PM, PMWA and WA in Soil 6 at 4WAI, by 279, 77, 130, 66 and 61 % respectively than control, CM, PM, PMWA and WA in Soil 6 at 8WAI, by 67, 74, 188, 114 and 79 % than the control, CM, PM, PMWA and WA in Soil 3 at 12WAI. Salinization potential of the amendments was CMWA > PMWA > WA > CM > PM > Control in the incubation experiment. In the screenhouse experiment, the salinization potential of the amendments was CMWA > CM > WA > PMWA > PM > Control in the both cycles at 0WAP, CMWA > CM > WA > PMWA > PM > Control and WA > PM > CMWA > Control > CM > PMWA respectively in the first and second cycle respectively at 8WAP. In the field experiment, CMWA raised EC by 250, 232, 174, 152 and 174 % in comparison to control, CM, PM, PMWA and WA at 4WAP in the first cycle while a 185, 118, 76 and 118 % rise in EC was recorded above the control, PM, PMWA and WA at 12WAP in the second cycle. The salinization potential of the amendments was in the order of CMWA > CM > PMWA > WA > PM > Control and CMWA > PMWA > CM > WA > PM > Control repectively in the first and second cycle. The salinity of dried animal manures, wood ash and the potential secondary soil salinization induced by their application is greater in CMWA. The intensity of salinization among the soils was time cycle specific, and soils from basement complex parent material were more prone to salinization than soils from sedimentary parent material
